2020 Character Rigging Demo Reel (Toon Boom Harmony)

This is a toon boom rigging  Demo showing some really nicely done models.  i think creating some animations with rigged characters would look good on my showreel and portfolio so i might try my hand and at this for a while.

Rigging with Bones in Toon Boom Essentials Ive been trying to learn a bit of rigging on toon boom harmony. im not a fan of this type of animation but i feel like it will be essential to learn for getting jobs in the industry. i can see how having a rig could speed up the process of animation greatly and if done well can look just as good as traditional animation

This is a Film Created by Giant Animation they are an Irish Animation studio based in Dublin. i am hoping to apply for a job or paid internship with them in the future they create some amazing work and it would be a great experience into the animation world.

This is a short video i created to show off the Art of Mob talk it will be shown with the rest of my work in the Virtual degree show. it shows character designs and concept art. it also shows the production process from story board to fully coloured line art.

This table shows different events and Festivals that i can use to show off my Final Film. It shows the total costs that I will need to enter my Film into these events and what File Format is required to enter them. unfortunately, I haven’t got all of the details from the festivals. I have emailed a few but with the current Covid 19 Pandemic feedback has been slow. I found most of the events on film freeway which is a really handy way to find film Festivals as I was originally unaware that Belfast even had a film festival. My goal is to show off the film to as many people as possible and hopefully get some interest in my work and if I was lucky win some awards which would be great for a CV/ Work Portfolio

Tomm Moore | A Deeper Perspective This is a video looking into the work of Tomm Moore an irish animator who Co created Cartoon Saloon. Its interesting to look at how Moore uses backgrounds and perspective to create danger. Moore’s backgrounds were inspired by old Irish art and Rock carvings. I’m not usually a fan of background art and prefer to look at the characters in my own work so its interesting to see how a background can be used to create an emotion in a film.

Feed back on Book

Mario, Steve and Pete had a look at my Art of the Film Book. They commented on maybe brightening some of the images and trying to line the images up better which is something i will fix straight away although the Book Wright Software can make it difficult. Steve seeing my work for the first time commented on the lack of text explaining what each page was showing so i will add some informative text to explain what the images are showing and what each page is about. Mario asked everyone to add a page on Festivals as a way to show off our films so ill be creating a page on certain festivals i could enter my film into and the cost of each festival entry. Pete Talked about adding a page showing where the film idea and inspiration came from. show i will create a page talking about my inspiration from TV shows and Films like “The Sopranos” and “Good Fellas”.

This is some environment concept work i’ve drawn for my Art Book. Im working on creating some extra art work for my book to fill it out. I used clip studio to draw it, i think it looks nice, its a more up to date version of my 3 minute film set

New Show Reel This is an updated version of my Show Reel with animation from my 3 minute film. i used the same music as before. its nice to see all my work through out the years put together.  i might need to re edit it but will see

Movie poster Update I have slightly edited my Movie poster moving the Movie title into the centre and putting the characters on top. I  was also inspired by “Good Fellas” Poster and added the Names of the Actors but its Just me So i thought that was kind of a funny twist.

This is an update on my animation with colour no sound on this yet i just wanted to see the animation go. i can already see some places i missed colouring so im going to have to back and fix that. i feel like its looking really nice i like the backgrounds even though they are kind of basic. im really satisfied with the way the camera turn came out. i had to do individual backgrounds and i was afraid it would look terrible but it does the job

Coloured frames These are some coloured frames from my animation with the backgrounds. I think its looking really good i cant wait to get it all coloured and put together. My laptop is struggling a bit with the rendering but hopefully it will survive until i’m finished

Update

These are some of the backgrounds i have done today they look like some wild pieces of modern art but i promise they look nice in the final film I've got 15 seconds fully completed at the moment so hopefully i can pick up the pace and get this done and dusted

Background art These are the first two pieces of back ground art i have done i have started with the last shots the shot of the “Mobopoly” board will probably be the most detailed background i have so im glad its out of the way

This is the first piece of coloured animation i have done. i think it looks really nice and i look forward to getting the rest done.
