“Oh hey!” Honey called out before grinning at the women. “It is! I haven’t been here in ages...” And by ages she meant yesterday afternoon. “I thought of another book to get. Well, actually three more. All good things. Only one of them is fiction!”

Browsing through the bookshelves lining the inside of the small bookshop, Meg smiled to herself. When she heard some movement behind her, she couldn’t help turning her head to see who it was. Upon seeing the face, her face lit up with a huge smile. “Oh, hi there,” she said. “Fancy seeing you here…”

Honey smiled at the girl. She was a frequent customer at the Lucky Cat Cafe and always had a craving for chocolate. Honey didn’t mind that at all since she adored chocolate herself but she didn’t think she would ever be able to have as much chocolate as her! “Thank you! You have a cute face!” She giggled. “And I agree. There’s never a bad day for hot chocolate.”

Anna knew what season it was, her extra cute overall jean shorts would tell anyone that it was warm enough. Though, the redhead still had her cup co cocoa happily placed in her hands. “It’s never too warm for a good cup of hot cocoa. Chocolate comes in many forms to be consumed whenever, where- wow you have amazing eyelashes.” She complimented the person as she smiled.

Honey was surprised by the question. She carried herself with such optimism all the time that no one really questioned if she was happy. But now that the question presented itself, she had to really think about it. Did she look miserable? “I...Oh! Don’t apologize! It’s okay to ask these things!” She drummed her fingers on the table in front of her and thought for a moment. “I think so. I wasn’t for a while, but now I’m sure I am. Are you happy?”

“Are you happy?” the girl asked tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. It was a random question that has just popped in her head, but one that always lingered at the back of her mind. Maybe because she constantly asked herself the same thing. But her question also came from a place of genuine curiosity. What people even thought happiness was? But then she realized one thing, that not only she was invading someone else’s privacy, but hers could be easily invided as well. “That was a bit too personal, I suppose, sorry.”

Upon being given half of the croissant, Hiro’s face visibly brightened up and he eagerly munched away at the treat. It was always nice when Honey took pity on him and slid him a treat, but he was hoping to test just how far this generosity would take him. “There’re plenty of things with substance here,” he pointed out. “We have paninis, smoothies, baked goods – y’know, technically the chocolate chip cookies fit into two of the five food groups. They’re made with flour and milk chocolate chips, so it’s gotta be healthy enough, right? Just one won’t hurt.”

“Now Hiro, you know that’s not what I meant.” She shook her head at him, but still giggled a little. “All of those things are sweets and will keep you up all night. And if I’m the one who let you eat all of those sweets, I’m sure Cass would be disappointed. And I don’t think either of us want to see her disappointment face.” She felt bad for telling him no, but she knew she couldn’t always say yes to him. Right? “One cookie maybe but then you need a sandwich or something!”

Zarina couldn’t help but let out a noise as someone collided with her frame. She was observant but no amount of moving could have cleared the way for this situation. With her hood over her auburn hair and her eyes low to the ground, she did her best to stay out of sight, not wanting to be spotted by people that didn’t concern her, at least not today. Her head was filled with ideas, new possibilities and results that she hasn’t tried yet. But it didn’t matter when she heard a familiar voice. 

“Honey?” The girl couldn’t believe that she was even talking to the girl that had abandoned their friendship. “Mad? What are you ––” she was just as lost as lost could be. “Stop talking for a second,” she couldn’t help but let a smile crack. “I’m not mad? I’m uh ––” she couldn’t let herself do this again. She was taught by a certain individual that she was left behind and she tried to remember that but she couldn’t help but stay put. “Why aren’t you mad at me?” 

Now Honey was the one confused. Did Zarina smile at her? Was she dreaming? “Why would I be mad at you?? I’m the one who did something wrong--I think!!” She had to of been the problem. Things were fine and even after her incident Honey attempted to stand by her, even when she wasn’t physically there to defend. Honey couldn’t even imagine what being mad-mad a Zarina was like!

“I’m nowhere near mad at you. I’m worried because we haven’t talked in forever, but not mad! Why aren’t you mad at me? I’m confused, which I really don’t like very much. Do you want to get coffee and talk? If you have the time, I mean.”

“Maybe a little bit,” Honey said with a giggle. “It’s working though, isn’t it? You can have another brownie if you want to!”

“This is freaking amazing,” Audrey said, a couple crumbs falling out of her mouth as she spoke. “Hey, you’re trying to get me to happy dance, aren’t you?”

“Oh! Sorry for bumping into you!” The blonde said with a small frown on her face. She was so caught up in trying to bring her chem purse back home before someone noticed it wasn’t a normal purse and wasn’t even thinking about watching where she was going. Not working on her things at her old apartment was starting to bother her a little bit, but it was manageable. She wasn’t the type to complain even if she really wanted to anyways. After securely tucking her chem purse where it wouldn’t turn on or mess with anyone, she noticed that the person she ran into was none other than her old friend, Zarina.

“I’m sorry! Again. Please don’t be mad! I know we aren’t umm..talking anymore and I’m talking too much but I just wasn’t trying to bump into you and I hope you know that.”

“Hey Go Go....can you say, no sing......MOOOOVING DAAAAAY!!!?” She grinned at her friend. “Thank you so much again for letting Speckles and I move in. We are going to be the best roommates you’ve ever had! It’ll be like an endless sleepover!! And if you’re okay with it, I was hoping to cook something for you tonight! But only if you’re cool with it! ha-ha!” She was rambling because she was nervous. Moving in with your best friend was really nerve-racking, but exciting! She grabbed the remaining boxes she had left  and waited for Go Go to tell her where to put things. She wasn’t about to take up too much space.

Honey turned to look at her recipe and gasped. “Huh...it’s not supposed to bubble like that. Maybe I added too many spices....” She was trying to make a new kind of  brownie mix but there was no way the batter supposed to be bubbling like that. And since she wasn’t in her own apartment anymore, she was trying to be more careful. “I better start over....But I can do that later! Do you want me to jut order take-out?”

“ Oh gosh, I actually think…uh, ” Cruz bit her lip as she stared at Honey’s project bubbling in front of her. In all honesty, she felt a bit lost when asked questions way out of her field, “ I’m so sorry, I couldn’t even tell you what I’m looking at, let alone know how to help. But it looks fine to me! ”

Considering how bubbly Honey could be, Hiro should have anticipated the tight hug that shortly followed her greeting. He’d never been big on physical affection and often shied away from it, but Honey was the exception. She could pinch his cheeks and wrap him up in warm embraces all she wanted, simply because he knew she was that kind of person. To deny Honey a hug would be the equivalent of kicking a small puppy, as far as Hiro was concerned. Too bad her hug was getting between him and a few treats. “Actually,” he chuckled, eventually released from the embrace, “I haven’t. I was probably going to – oh, I don’t know … grab a few cookies? Maybe a slice of pie? Y’know, those chocolate croissants don’t look half bad either.”

The moment Hiro started bringing up sweets Honey put her hands on her hips and gave him a stern look. “Oh no! You know what your Aunt Cass has been saying about you cutting down on the sweets.” She looked around to see if Cass was watching them at all. She leaned forwards and whispered to him, “okay maybe one chocolate croissant.....” Looking around one more time for Cass she quickly turned around and grabbed a croissant, splitting it in half before handing one of the halves to Hiro. “There you are! But after this you really should eat something with substance.”

“It’s the best, and I love how she records some of her songs in Spanish and English. I mean, what a truly iconic queen of the music industry,” she gushed, dramatically placing her hand over her heart. Molly had always been a music lover, so it seemed that her list of favorite artists was always growing. “Ooh, I love outlets! You get such a wide variety of cute stuff and you don’t have to pay nearly as much as regular stores,” Molly agreed with a wide smile. 

“And have you listened to her early stuff? She is also the queen of all genres. I loved it when she was angsty, she umm...really got me through my younger years! Like young-young, years.” She blushed a little. It was a little embarrassing to admit, but hey, not everyone was polished and perfect. At least that was what she told herself. “I agree! It’s a complete steal! But without the actual stealing.”

“HONEY!” The moment the blonde walked into her cafe, the excitement that the cafe owner had been feeling momentarily released, as Cass GIDDILY skipped and grinned at her. She clapped her hands together, beaming at Honey before making her way towards her. “You’re finally here! Oh, this is so PERFECT!” Cass then said, knowing that what she was saying does not make much sense to the younger woman. She was just so excited about revealing her SURPRISED for Honey, knowing that the other was going to love it even before finally telling her!

Cass let out a small laugh. “Oh, no. I didn’t forget to turn over the closed sign or ANYTHING like that!” She reassured, brushing that idea off right away as she paused right besides Honey. “I very much intended to leave it on for the day because TODAY? You aren’t going to be working at all!” Cass exclaimed. She wanted to elaborate right after, pull out the gift certificate for two to a day trip at the SPA, yet she kept it in because she also wanted to build up the SUSPENSE just a bit more. “Would you like to know WHY?”

Honey was a mix of worried and excited. Cass’s excitement was contagious yet at the same time she wondered if she should be worried that she was excited. Was she trying to bury some unresolved feelings? Was she just happy? Honey was hoping it was the latter, but she needed to be sure. She needed the cold-hard facts. “Woo perfect!!” she said with a laugh before looking around to see if she could figure out what was going on. Since the Lucky Cat was closed, maybe there was a birthday or some sort of anniversary. Honey’s birthday wasn’t today and she knew her friend’s birthdays by heart....so maybe it was the latter. 

“I’m not going to be working? Okaaaaay....” She didn’t work at the Lucky Cat to make money per-say, it was really all about the people and the experience. “Well why would we have the cafe closed then? What are we doing? Is it a party?? Oooh I do love a good party!! I keep some of my karaoke CD’s in my bag!” She nodded her head at her friend. “I really want to know what’s going on! Like super bad!”
