I’ve seen ppl complain about Misty not being evil enough and not liking the dynamic between her and Opaline meanwhile I’m eating this up bc it’s like Belos and Hunter from The Owl House for a younger audience. This is good dynamic and I feel like I’m one of the only ppl who likes it.

When sunnys dad died, she didnt want to leave the lighthouse. so hitch and his mom stayed in the geust room for a while. It helped in one way, but didnt in a different one, as every morning sunny would wake up and hear someone puttering about the kitchen and think its her dad, only to remember he not there anymore. she temporarily moved into their home two weeks afterwards. Hitch still feels guilty, as it was Him making breakfast that set off sunny's tears frist thing in the morning - HB

The most rough thing about the lighthouse falling apart during the whole major event wasn’t just that they came deathly close to losing years of her father’s important research on ancient equestria, but also because it felt like all the memories that she had in it were shattered too. It felt like losing her dad a second time, and she was incredibly close to setting into a screaming-cry in front of all of those ponies. So, while ponies were helping construct the new Brighthouse, Hitch nudged Sunny to stay back home with him. Izzy was busy getting an earful from her father, as well as the twins from their mother, and it was likely that they would spend time back at their own houses while their brand new home was being built. And there was something so bittersweet about curling up in the same bed that she used to sleep in when they left the lighthouse after her father passed away and she had one too many moments of her heart hoping it had all been a dream. Hitch comes into her room the same way he did all that time ago, and curls up with her. “I’m so sorry about the lighthouse.” “Don’t be. It wasn’t your fault.” “So...have you figured that out yet?” And Sunny lifts one glowing yellow wing and sighs, “Nope.”

go along with their wishes to she her use it. her friends are great at knocking that sort of thinking out for a little while, her brothers position as the shrieff really helps, but its just them against a lot of ponies... and whats to say sunny's town is the only one that does it? its the one that hurts the most, but as rumors spread? how many other places will she be forced into this new (and now uncomfortable) skin?

She’s luck that she has a bit more solid backup in terms of Zephyr Heights. Queen Haven thinks the alicorn magic is simply astonishing, but she understands having such a difficult task at such an age.  After all, she’s been the queen for a very long time. And Sunny not only helped bring back the power of flight to all winged ponies, but she also did a lot for Haven’s own daughters. The pegasi of Zephyr Heights can’t exactly prod Sunny about her powers when the three remaining royal-blood pegasi that rule over them are protecting her. Alphabittle is a very scary pony. Sure, the unicorns of bridlewood don’t really have a “ruler” of any kind and are more just a community that works together on all things, but it’s an unspoken rule that Alphabittle is in charge when somepony needs to be. He’s the biggest and strongest in terms of body, and his super senses make him especially good at detecting things. Which is very lucky, him being Izzy’s adoptive father and all. The more he warms up to Sunny, the more he’s willing to kick ass for her because no young pony deserves to be thrown around like that.

While sunny is desended from twilight and had the magic nervous systems to have an alicorn form, shes also an earth pony who grew up in a fairly magicless era. Her new form is cool, but isnt Stable and her town is so caught up in the splendor of magic, of one of their own being an alicorn, a near mythical status that they dont see her unless she has that mode on. They dont see the girl that they almost killed, the one who lost her home. the one whose likely scared theyd turn on her if she doesnt

Alicorns were probably considered to be fake stories told to foals to keep them entertained, ponies were so horrifically torn apart in the aspect of living together that the very concept of a single pony that carried the aspects of all three was the wildest concept possible. The worst thing for Sunny is that she can't fully control it yet, despite the fact that she and her friends are practically the saviors of ponykind, nobody will spare her a passing glance unless she fires up her magic, or one of her friends does the same. She keeps the information that her ancient gramma was literally one of the most important figures in Equestria's history to herself for this exact reason once she finds it out for herself. Because she already has the subconscious pressure and the lovely little holographic message from her ancestor that was left for them to find, if the whole town knew...well it'd just make it worse.

My big hc reasoning for Sparky having such silly and slightly op magic fire powers is that he’s the son of some incredibly powerful old dragons. They have scarily wide-ranged magic attacks and are most experienced in transformation magic. The cutiemark switch is just a different form of transformation magic. Transforming a pony into another pony but not *actually* transforming them. Mostly likely because Sparky is a baby and can’t ACTUALLY turn a pony into another pony.

Honestly pegasi needing magic to fly makes so much sense. The way their bodies are built and their wings are made wouldn’t be good for flying on their own. Only gliding and higher jumping if they have strong enough wings. I remember seeing someone mention something before that if a pegasus were to be real, they would need massive wings bigger than their body and super strong bones in order for them to not shatter upon landing from flight. Obviously mlp isn’t realistic, but it makes sense that they can’t fly with just their wings, they need something to power the wings.
