Prayer for the Mother
This prayer I recite is for the mothers, for those who are mothers, for those who wish to be mothers, for mothers who have gone on to the hereafter, and for the mother I call my own.
I pray to the Queen Frigga, All-Mother that You watch over all those that call themselves mothers and those who take up that position. Help guide them and protect them. For a mother’s work and love is most precious.
I pray to Angrboda, Great Witch of the Ironwoods. That You guide and protect mothers who care and love their children that are considered “outcasts” Children who are considered “monsters” because they look different. Children who would be thrown to the vipers because they are ill. For those mothers bear the most responsibility and sorrow.
I pray to Freja, beautiful Fertile Goddess. That You give hope and love to the ones who are eager to bring forth life. For they are the most easily frightened. Grant their wish to bring their children safely into this world and many others the gift of motherhood they so very much desire.
I pray to Sigyn, most steadfast and tragic mother. That You console those who have lost their children. Bring the mourning mother comfort and peace for her sorrow and grief is unmatched. No matter what age, a mother’s loss of a child is devastating. Give them the light and comfort that so desperately need.
I pray to Rindr, one who became a mother under vile circumstances. I pray to You that You help and heal those that were given motherhood forcibly. Help them to become strong and to carry on, even when the world is against them. Console and comfort them as they mourn themselves and search for peace.
I pray to Eir, Healing Goddess of Asgard. Give comfort to the ones who will never be mothers or cannot be mothers no longer. Encourage them to fight and stay strong. Help them with their health and illness, for it has rendered them unable to have children or care for any child. Help make people see them as a person rather than someone who should give birth.
I pray to Hel, Goddess of the Underworld. I pray that the many mothers that have passed through Your Hall are helping and guiding their children in parenthood. That they bless them with good fortune and love and chase away the mothers that committed evil acts of evil against their own kin.
I Hail and praise these Goddesses in hopes They protect the people who we call mother. No matter whom they might be, no matter if they were mothers, are mothers, or will never be mothers.

Mongolian manuscript from the 19th century, full of charts and diagrams that astrologers (generally Buddhist monks) would use to calculate the best time to do certain things, such as depart on a trip or remove a dead body from a dwelling: https://publicdomainreview.org/essay/a-mongolian-manual-of-astrology-and-divination

Abu Yahya Zakariya ibn Muhammad ibn Mahmud-al-Qazwini (ca. 1203-1283 CE), is known simply as al-Qazwini,  Kitab Aja'ib al-makhluqat wa Gharaib al-Mawjudat, literally “The Wonders of Creation,” compiled in the middle 1200s in what is now Iran or Iraq.
This Human Rabbit painting was likely done in India later and is from the 17th or 18th century version of the manuscript
