Are you a spy or something--
Her thumb pressed down on the melting plate of butter, sinking all the way down to the bottom of the holder. What an uncomfortable mess but it was a necessary distraction from his response. Was she a spy? In a way, yes, but for no one but herself...
"I am not a spy, I am a person who is very curious." Now that was not a lie. See? It was possible to do this without lying.
She attempted to look interested and happy when he spoke about his interests. Her hips started waving gently back and forth like all of those females she witnessed in her video tapes back at the apartment; if she made it apparent that she also had those interests, it would be a starting point for them!
"I also love all of those things," she smiled, "The beach is my favorite, and studying mechanics is a great passion-- Ku-uhh!"
Even she knew what a stalker was. Is that how she appeared? Had she not properly investigated into common mannerisms of the human female... Probably not.
"I do not stalk! I am simply a curious individual who is very interested in many things. I..." her mind raced back to the first tape she watched, the issues the characters faced, the trials they experienced... "Do not have many companions as I am new here. It is unclear how to go about doing so. I hoped to... to learn more; is this discomforting?"
Something Lost
There isn’t really any time given to reply to anything she’d said until the inquiries came to a full stop. Discomfort is plain to read on his face, & as a habit of showing his unease, Kaien itches at the back of his head, laughing slightly.
“ Y’sure have a lot of questions, Tomoya-san. Are you a spy or something? “
Of course, it’s meant as a joke. On the contrary, he has the feeling she must be into him or something. What with the random appearance ( not like he would have expected her anyway ), overly rehearsed way of speech, & array of personal questions, it was obvious this stranger had some sort of interest in him. &, while he didn’t feel threatened by her, he wondered whether this interest was developed just when he’d opened the door, or even before then. He can’t remember seeing her before.
” I live here alone, yeah. Sometimes I have friends over. I’m a mechanic for a living, & cars are a real passion of mine. I also like the beach. ”
If she was going to be asking him such questions, why not joke with her a bit? Perhaps she’d be forced to reveal why she’s really here.
Plus, Kaien’s a pretty open guy, in some respects, & honestly, would have answered almost anything, within cordial boundaries. Things like; ’ Are you lonely? ’ isn’t a question he’d answer right off the bat.
” Hey! Wait a minute! Are you my stalker? Boy, aren’t I flattered! I’ve never had a stalker before! “
#wieldingwaves#omg I'm dying#Kaien calm down#everyone calm down#Imagine her though just showing up at the beach every day#and he's never there but she's just 'today is the day he will be here'

Divulge as much truth as necessary.
There was an interesting twist. Was it his attempt at a compromise, at meeting one halfway? Despite her actions the Zanpakuto did enjoy telling the truth, and this was likely as close as she was going to get to passing through while avoiding confrontation.
She was silent for a long while, obviously considering in her head the best way to go about explaining this to him without revealing too much information...
While ordinarily she disliked hiding things, in this instance she was afraid. She was afraid that if this person knew the truth he'd subject both herself and her Master to horrible experiments, dissect them like lab specimens and attempt to discover the intricacies behind their circumstance. It was not something the Zanpakuto would ever have believed... before their accident.
Asa grabbed the middle of her sheathed sword, holding it up horizontally to present it as an example to the curious Shinigami, "For reasons that I do not know, my Master and I have switched places. He is in here, and he can not escape without the remaining part of his soul which is presently missing.
"No, I did not attack my Master. If you seek the culprit, you would find more answers in the Division called "11". No, I do not know the name. But I will find his soul, I will retrieve it and I will bring my Master back."
Wisp

"I am not you. I have no reason at the moment to lie. I will admit, I have told the entirety of the truth to someone close to me, but I did not lie either. I merely did not divulge the details. If you choose to see it as a lie then so be it. Unlike you, I can be honest about my intentions."
He released his grip on the handle of his sword, choosing to drop his arm to his side. Regardless of her reasons, he refused to let her pass freely through the Soul Society doing as she pleased. Whether he told the truth or not, it had nothing to do with this situation at present.
"The fact remains that you have a choice, to divulge as much truth as necessary for me to allow you safe passage to continue on your way, or we can sit here and continue this circular conversation while your goals remain unaccomplished and without the aid and protection of the other captains."
Surely that is a compromise. Perhaps he will not get the entire story, but enough to appease his suspicions and allow him to sway the others to at least allow her passage to take care of her business. They can always have the second division monitor her to make sure she told the truth. A fair enough compromise, or so he hoped. Though he did not particularly like this, he could bite the bullet for once, he supposed.

Walking over to the young girl out of boredom, Chopper's bored expression turned to a gleeful grin. Rushing over to her, he finally stopped in front of the girl, reaching his hoof out to poke her leg and get her attention. "Excuse me!" He called out joyously, hoping to make a new friend.

What in the worlds--
The Zanpakuto glanced carefully at the unfamiliar creature there. What was it? A Zanpakuto? But it did not feel like one...
Still, it did not feel dangerous. Hiringu took a step back and crouched down, hugging onto her knees.
"Yes, do you require something of me?"

"Hnn--hnnn." In a way what he described sounded almost like learning how to live again. It went against everything that she knew, both as a Zanpakuto and in her personality itself. That she was born to be a follower was an inherent fact and the idea of taking control of her actions entirely was a terrifying prospect.
The Zanpakuto meant it as no disrespect to herself, but to be a supporter in any form was what she craved the most. Whether it was Minoru or another master, or a companion as he described, she would prefer to live under a person than beside.
"There is plenty of light, even in the fact that you have suggested anything at all." She was appreciative of his assistance when she was sure he had so little reason to give it. Not everyone was as selfless as her Master, and a terrifying thought was that the more time she spent on the outside, the more selfish she became.
"... I can feel myself changing," her head dropped to one side, looking down at her hands, "I am not the same as I was before he disappeared. I am becoming angry, and doing horrible things." At least by her standards.
"Is this a normal thing to happen? Perhaps if I find this companion, I will be able to go back to what I was."
From his own personal experiences the difference was great, nothing being similar to how things used to be, nothing being even remotely close. It was better, something to actually live for; to work towards. Despite missing some advantages of having someone to ‘work’ under, so to say, it was more of a relief.
Thinking over each word the spirit was letting out a sigh, his form straightening up as lids were held almost lazily over his eyes. Expressing exhaustion even though this interaction had only just started.
”The difference between a Master and a Companion is that you are not there to serve them, under any circumstance. Each choice will be entirely up to you, but with someone beside you for guidance if needed.
They can not wield you, they can not use you— but they can remain at your side.”

”Your life does not depend on them.”
That was the biggest difference of them all. If one were to die, the other would not have to face consequences that matched such as with Master and Zanpakutou normally. There would be grief, in the instance of a companion, but if one chose to live after the loss… they could have the choice of doing so.
”Whether or not you see any light in my suggestion is up to you, I’ve simply offered some— words of advice, shall we say.”

"You are doing the same," she popped one eye open, the other closed loosely, meditatively. "You do not know me." Which was the basis of his suspicion, but continuing to speak in circles would help no one.
Even if she'd gladly do it for the same of not having to fight anyone.
"Have you ever told a lie?" she wondered out loud, once again closing the second eye, "Have you ever thought, 'perhaps if I conceal the truth, it will keep someone safe.' You do not do it to be cruel or evil but rather when the truth itself can cause cruel and evil things to happen, it is better to keep it hidden.
"Just once in your life. Even when you were smaller. If you tell me that you have not lied, then that in itself must be a lie." Everyone lied for whatever intention.
"Do not proceed to get angry with me, it is an honest question. I am making conversation."
Wisp

All Byakuya could do at this point is shake his head at her accusations. Such accusations are baseless, making assumptions. Had he not told her more than once that once she revealed her true intentions, he could support her?
"You know nothing about me and the assumptions you make are baseless. I shall only repeat myself one last time. Telling that information will allow the Soul Society to support you. Once more, only someone with evil intentions dare hide."
Byakuya held no intentions of attacking her, of making that first move. As a patient man, he could wait for a long while yet. He wasn’t one to rush into things, standing there, hand on the hilt of his sword.

"Hn?" Her head dropped to the side, waving both hands back and forth at his gesture, "Please do not do those things, your head is higher than my own." Not only was he older, but her Master's rank was beneath this man's -- she could tell by his uniform. He should not show that kind of respect.

"What you know should be enough! Who is to say that what you know is not as important as someone else, even someone who is not secluded?" Perhaps a person with more experiences might have more knowledge, but that did not make Shira's knowledge incorrect.
Hiri realized that she... knew quite less about the world than she was letting on. She, too, lived a secluded life and it was not until recently that she was able to learn more about the world. However, through the eyes of her Master she did experience a lot.
"There are many people like that, yes. People who work for their own ends... People who will betray you, and see nothing but value in their own selves; believe that no other people hold any worth. However, those are not the only kinds of people. There are some that give themselves completely to others. It is for that reason that I also give myself completely, in the hopes that the shared burden will lessen theirs.
"Is this confusing? Life is very confusing... especially as of late. I apologize."

"I- What? Are you… Suggesting I live by my own rules? I know only what I know though, there is very little one can learn all lonesome and secluded. And the gods know that I’m far tired of such a life as that. Information does nothing if you simply sit all patient in waiting and amassing it. I’m sure the world’s genius didn’t sit idle by in polishing for all their lives.”
"I have every right to be hurt! But, uhm… I’m afraid you’re giving me a flurry of confusion. However I may have gotten wrapped up in some— previous experience so perhaps I lost my state of focus along the path."
"You speak as if your vocabulary in the types of people is strong; however did you go about that? I do imagine that some are far more interesting than others. I can only imagine the different patterns of selfish, vengeful, needy sorts— just the idea is enough to make me gag… But make me curious all the same.”

Hiringu decided that she liked this woman. It was not a very difficult thing to do given that she was attracted to many types of personalities, but perhaps their values and morals matched in more ways than at first apparent. Though the Zanpakuto had taken to being distrustful as of late, she as a whole believed... it was better to trust a person until given a reason not to. It opened a world of possibilities that would otherwise not be available if you lived your life believing that everyone wanted to destroy you.
Though she was at first hesitant, she eventually accepted the invitation and moved across the room to sit beside the other, daintily resting on her knees. She, too, removed her blade, though when she set it down she kept it so closely to her leg that she was practically on top of it. She looked as a guard dog watching over something precious, ready to snatch it up and run if someone threatened to remove it.
"If the only price is answers, then that is not a bad price to pay." Being honest was a specialty of hers, although... "I will answer anything you ask of me, provided it is something that I know, or something I am permitted to offer."
For example, if the question could somehow put her master in danger... she would have to decline answering.
∞ “I suppose that you could take that approach dear.” The blonde kept a soft gaze to the females form. Her voice gently entertained by the cynicism in her logic. Just what happened in her past to bring on such thoughts? The spiritual pressure that exuded from her hinted to the blonde that the years had not been kind. There was a sadness and distrust that spoke louder that she even could have stated. But just how deep did it run? And how could she show that she posed no threat.
“But I prefer to take an opposite one altogether. I place trust within the individual until they prove otherwise. I rely on my instincts and the hope that there is more good in the individual than bad. Perhaps it is rather a irresponsible way to look at the world but I find that people can surprise you when given the chance. Who am I to take that from them before knowing who they are and their truest intent. Regardless I see no reason for shouting. You have neither done anything wrong nor am I upset by your presence.”
Delicate footsteps led the two women to tatami mats placed out under the cover of the manor, between them a tea set steaming and a fire lit burning brightly to the side. It had been a place of refuge for the noblewoman within her own dwelling. A habitation where she could enjoy the silence and speak away from the peering eyes of the clans elders. Shifting to her knees, Asuna extended a hand out, welcoming the other to do the same while freeing herself of her zanpakuto. Removing him from his bindings at her thigh to place his small sheathed form to her side. With a warm smile Asuna motioned her hand moving over the petite blade in a loving stroke as if in a gesture of petting a beloved pet before again returning her gaze to her guest.

“Please sit and join me for some tea but I must warn you that it will come at a price. You see, I have many questions dear.”

"Lying is the worst sin of all. It hurts those that you hate, and those that you love." Hypocritical given that she did it all the time, but it was only slightly better since she admitted that sh did it...
Most of the time.
"That is a smile."
Don’t be absurd I don’t know what you are talking about ” he said turning his head back toward his work, he had indeed been smiling slightly as he watched her do random things. It put him at ease knowing she was doing OK,until she caught him smiling at her. No matter she had no proof.

Hello! I'm sorry for my inactivity here. I've lost a lot of motivation for this muse and it's made coming here seem like a chore, which I hate. I'd like to try and revive it so please forgive me if replies are very sparse.

"Whatever my actions, you will find that none of them include reaching for my blade." She could almost feel his uneasiness, though she supposed it wasn't entirely unwarranted. The Zanpakuto felt uneasy as well, but resorting to violence was something she did only if provoked.
"I am seeking a Shinigami, likely older than yourself," seeing as she did not recognize this person. "He has been gone for hundreds of years. He was very kind and very loyal; do you know him, have you seen him?" No, he's gone, presumed dead.
"You look to be a person of high rank; will you lend me some history?"
{{✿桜 侍✿ }}—- Assist her? And what was it that she needed of him? Byakuya glared coldly at her for he then remained cautious, lips parted only to the close once more for he had no answer. Not at the moment. A foot had soon lifted then another for he had slowly moved away from her. Curtains of ebony had scattered partially around his face but had soon feel along his shoulder and around his face.
“What is it that you desire? Perhaps if I find you a bit off the. Perhaps I will dispose of you, it depends on your actions”. He had come to answer her, fingers grazed themselves over the hilt of Senbonzakura.

"Is it poor of me to believe that excessive kindness is almost shameful?" It hurt hr even to think such things. She did not always used to be this way and slowly she could feel herself losing that special optimism that she'd gained from Minoru.
"But it is; to give so much and receive nothing in return. Is kindness not meant to be given and expect nothing in return? Sometimes, I do expect things in return..." How sickening.

even though he were asleep he could still hear her , in his asleep state he would be in a old memory of his zanpakto room , her words roamed the copy of his world and he would answear her but he couldt duo to himself being asleep , but it certainly was a good question , he wouldt think anything bad of her even if she had the idea of leaving him so that idea wouldt say much abou her anyway in his mind

This apartment was not too different from her own considering they lived in the same complex. It was actually more space than she really needed as she had nothing to do but sit, plan, perhaps read... But the only things she was interested in reading were the books that she saw Kaien picking up.
It might give her some kind of clue as to who this person was and whether or not he could be of any use to her.
"Ah? Baking?" Right, right! She did tell him she was baking. "Doughnuts," she spat out the first commodity that came to mind. The Zanpakuto passed a doughnut shop every day on the way to the library -- those were baked, right? Shit, were they fried?
"It is a... new recipe," she took the sugar from him, bowing double as thanks, "I hope it is delicious. You may have as many as you like if I am successful. Do you live here alone? Do you have no family? Are you lonely? What are your interests?"
Maybe she came on too strong.
Something Lost
As she entered, he shut the door behind her & walked the short distance to his kitchen for the sugar she requested.
The apartment is only enough for a single individual. One bedroom, one bathroom, a decent living room, & a kitchenette. All of which are spaced quite close to one another; a few feet of hallway separate the rooms from the entry area. So, as a single man, Kaien doesn’t stock up much on certain commodities that are usually unneeded or rarely used.
” I only have about two cups of sugar left.
What exactly are you goin’ to be baking? I might take you up on that repayment? ”
He strode back around to the living room, holding the jar of sugar out to her.

"Every opinion contains importance; be it from the person closest to you, or the person who despises you." Not that she meant to imply that he did despise her but he obviously did not care much for her. It was expected, and not at all minded by the self-comfortable Zanpakuto.
The introduction of a Master alternative brought a momentary blank expression to her face -- as though she was so busy trying to figure out what he meant that she had no focus left for the muscles on her face. Was the Shinigami and Zanpakuto relationship not the perfect fit for creatures like them? Unless he was saying that she should not be referring to Minoru as a 'Master,' but as an equal.
"If I am to put effort into finding a companion to walk beside, might as well that time be put towards reclaiming the one that I once had?" While she referred to Minoru as though he was above her, it was only a symbol of respect for someone that she found so endearing.
"If I give up now, will that not have been wasted time? As opposed to moving forward, and making my search worth while." Even if she was sure that her quest would be a failure in the end.
It was she who had asked for advice in the first place, so she supposed she should be considering what he said more carefully.
"Between a Master and a companion... what is the difference to you?"
He knew it well. What it was like to simply sit and wait for a command, to be swung and have his name called, to do as was told and release whichever ability was needed of him. Yes, times like those were easy, and to be honest, he would still consider them as such… if he was not so bitter.
.That’s what fueled his words now; bitterness. Bitter towards a master, bitter towards any and all Shinigami.
Hated them, could do without them. Bitter, Bitter, BITTER.
The next words that left the spirits mouth had him heaving a sigh, his gaze slowly being brought back to her, but the annoyance on his face did not falter. If anything, it only seemed to grow. Part of him still latched on to past loyalties, yet the rest of him clung to his present self; clung to a life he believed to be better.
”I see not why my opinion on the matter would be of importance.”

”I care not how you live your life, I care not for the fate you throw yourself in to.”
Would he give himself to a new master? The unspoken answer was no, there was still too much left within him that remained loyal to an embodied poison. What he would do, and has done, is give himself to another half. Someone who will give what attention he has been starved of.
… but in turn he will return it all. It was different than what was asked, but just barely similar enough to have it reach his thoughts.
”However, I can tell you this…
Do not waste time seeking a Master, but a companion.”

The Zanpakuto's head snapped in Juushiro's direction, clearly surprised that someone had sneaked up on her. She thought she had monitored their schedules properly, but she did not account for the occasional late night walk or perhaps this person decided upon a midnight snack.
Initially she stared at him, taking in his appearance. He looked very familiar to her like someone she had once seen through her Master's eyes. Hiri could not tell whether it would be a good idea or a poor idea to reveal her identity, as some people could be so paranoid and suspicious... She had no idea what he would do with that information.
"You are excused," she responded, turning away from the room to offer him a polite bow, "There is no problem. I am merely here to observe." And find something. "I will not attack unless otherwise provoked. If there is anything else you desire to know, I will answer -- should I be able."
He hadn't asked her a thing, but the Zanpakuto wanted to make it rather clear from the beginning that she was not there to be troublesome.
In Storage
hiringu
Juushiro had felt the reiatsu enter his men’s barracks long ago, carefully monitoring it from afar as he waited to see what may happen. The being had stopped moving at one point, trying very hard to not be noticed as they waited or observed- Juushiro really wasn’t sure which or what they may be doing. It was a vaguely familiar presence- one that didn’t seem threatening or dangerous. That may be why he never acted against the being who entered, they didn’t seem dangerous even if they no longer belonged. His subordinates weren’t in immediate danger, so he decided to wait.
As the night continued on, he became curious. The reiatsu signature was well hid and hadn’t moved since it stopped. Masking his own presence, he carefully moved towards his men’s homes. He didn’t want to spook the other nor did he want to fight. He was curious. This was familiar, but distantly so.
"Excuse me..?" He asked softly when he saw her. Her lips had moved but the sound had been to quiet for him to hear properly. She didn’t look familiar to him at all, but that presence! He would find out why he had this nagging feeling of remembrance no matter what. There may be a hidden threat that he was overlooking and he refused to put his men’s lives in jeopardy.
