sure, i threw a post canon verse on this blog for funsies and said i can't get too in-depth with it or develop a lot because i haven't read much of the manga... but i still find myself thinking about it
thinking about gojo who likely takes weeks, months to recover, because rct alone can't insta-heal all the trauma his body and brain went through. who was likely in a coma for a short time, during which he "dreamed" the airport scene, probably more than what we were shown, and woke up confused about why he was hooked up to medical equipment and why shoko looked so much older. it takes a bit for the reality to come back to him. it's over ten years later, and he lost.
sometimes he wishes it hadn't been a dream
iirc, the fate of what remained of geto's body, if there was anything, was left a bit ambiguous... here, they retrieve it, and it's properly taken care of this time, likely while gojo was still out of it. he's finally grieving. he hides it in company, but he has so much free time and not much to do with it while he recovers, that the feeling inevitably creeps up when he's alone too long and runs out of ways to distract himself
forget 24/7 infinity, or any strenuous use of cursed energy, while his brain tries to heal, to adjust and figure out what the hell he did to it during the fight. it leaves him feeling vulnerable.
he sleeps more than he ever had in his adult life, six eyes be damned. sometimes he dreams of his youth. other times he has nightmares of geto's death, of the prison realm, of the slash that nearly, and probably should have, killed him. sometimes he swears he can feel it, and wakes up having to make sure the rest of him's still there.
(sometimes he dreams of the fight itself, and he'd be lying if it didn't still exhilarate him, in a twisted way)
sometimes he comes across more snarky or rude than before. sometimes it's him. other times it's the brain trauma, or the grief. sometimes he gets too restless and impulsively just... warps off somewhere. walk into his room and he's just. gone. he comes back eventually.
he has scars, now. on his torso, his arms, his forehead. sometimes he sees megumi or yuta and can't help but feel he didn't do enough, no matter how much he brags about how amazing his students (and everyone else too, i guess) are for defeating sukuna, or how often he jokes about he and yuta having matching scars.
he tries to act like it's all fine, because even after everything he still has trouble expressing vulnerability or appearing weak in front of others. but he has a lot going on, and may just have to finally learn how to lean on someone other than himself.
#just throwing all my random unpolished thoughts into this mess of a post#me making this verse for fun but then immediately start picking at g.ojo's mind... what's in there... show me...#( verse: post canon. )#( headcanon. )#this blog really does make me read up on the most random stuff. today it was physical therapy after arm replantation. okay i guess!

Choso didn't sound very convinced, but Gojo wasn't about to try any harder to get him to believe him, either. It ultimately didn't matter much, did it? It haunted him in ways he didn't expect it to, but if he hadn't gotten around to opening up about it to Shoko, or anyone else, Choso sure as hell wasn't going to be the first one he admitted it to. No offense to the guy.
"How kind. Not like you're the one who actually put me in there. Though, if I had dealt with you from the start..." Who knows how much less death there might've been, or if he wouldn't have gotten as overwhelmed, or... "Well, it is what it is, or whatever they say." No point in thinking of the what-ifs.
"Anyway, let's back up." He leaned forward slightly, chin still propped lazily in his hand. "You just said you didn't know why you're here. But I thought you wanted to make amends, right?"
that was quite the response - so cheery and sudden considering the current and previous topics that the half-curse flinched slightly at the singular word. but then gojo spoke on it a bit more seriously and he frowned. it sounded... a bit too familiar, he thought, and he tried to shake said thought as quickly as it had come. this wasn't about him.
"...Sure. Piece of cake.." he didn't believe that. what he did believe was that it was likely hard to talk about. likely at least mildly traumatizing. those sorts of things are usually hard to talk about - he should know.
"Well... I'm. Sorry all the same.." did it make it better or worse that his personal goal back then had had nothing to do with the sealing of satoru gojo in the slightest? that he was just part of the steps to get to his own goal..? . . . he wasn't about to ask.
#eldestoften#( verse: post canon. )#realized we didn't really give this a location but i made the assumption they're sitting somewhere sdjfakljs

Ann hides behind the tree and Gojo laughs— a small snicker from her joining in on poking fun at Kuzuryu turning into genuine laughter at everything that comes after. Some of us just don't throw like we're in fifth-grade dodgeball trying to show off. He's not even going to deny it, though it makes him believe his taunting had at least a little bit of an effect. "Damn, you can take it and dish it out. Who knew!"
After being around each other enough times via Hatter's meetings, and seeing her in action in the games, she stands out to him more than many others at the Beach. But despite that, he doesn't feel like he knows her all that well (not that he's made much effort to try.) So this? It feels like seeing something new, a glimpse, even if a small one, at another side of her.
"For the record, I am amazing at dodgeball." Present tense, spoken as he gathers more snow and whips it at one of the other players who had hit him earlier. It gives her the opening to successfully get him again, and he grins over his shoulder.
"Wow, I actually felt that one. You're getting better already."
It's his turn to take shelter, ducking behind a different tree. Another handful of snow later, he momentarily rests his head against the bark and breath fogs the air as he smiles to himself, before he reemerges and throws it at her.
It feels weird. Despite the provocation and encouragement to participate, this isn't the movies. There's no sudden RECONNECTION WITH HER LOST CHILDHOOD, no sudden urge to throw herself into these antics. It feels just as ridiculous to throw is as Ann had anticipated it would, though not with the heaviness of mortification that it could potentially have. ( Especially if she had missed - but Ann has good aim. )
And, though she certainly WILL NOT admit it to Gojo's face, the look of bewilderment turned delight does help untangle the threads of ridiculousness that thread around her like chains. They're not gone, but they are lighter than before.
She is tempted to point out that this world doesn't care bout fun. Not peace, nor relaxation, nor fun. BUT THEY ALL KNOW THAT. The Beach exists solely to provide that escape. " That doesn't mean I can't have my own fun. " She retorts - but does give a small grimace of agreement. " Kuzuryu crunches numbers for fun if I had to guess. Especially given how much he talks about statistics. " Which even she finds dreadfully dull to do. Just because she's good at it and can do it does not mean it is particularly fun to do.
THE COMMENT EARNS SLIGHT NARROWING OF HER EYES. Ann isn't a competitive person by nature, not is she excessively proud the way some around here were. That doesn't mean the comment doesn't have an effect. " You're exaggerating that. " Ann calls him on his tactic. " Some of us just don't throw like we're in fifth-grade dodgeball trying to show off. "
This time Ann manages to dodge the snowball coming her way and she seeks temporary refuge behind a tree as she gathers up some snow. It's ridiculous, but it's kind of nice. A game with no death on the line, just fun. She pokes her head out and then hurls it at Gojo as she moves away from the temporary shelter.
#'i'm amazing at dodgeball' *keeps getting hit*#first hot day of the year where i'm at. perfect time to finally reply to a snowball fight lol. sorry it's a little shorter this time!#i went with the assumption that they've probably been in at least one game together at some point?#but that doesn't have to be the case if you'd rather it not be!#sharpsuite#( verse: alice in borderland. )
