She gasped dramatically.
"We absolutely are pirates!" she said, scandalized. "Beverly, don't ever let doubt seep into your heart again!"
Pluto snarled at him. "Je vais rester ici justqu'au moment que je veux partir."
Isabella was about to fall asleep at the helm when one of her crew caught sight of a ship flying the jolly roger in the distance. This would be her first encounter with fellow pirates. She instructed the first mate to signal them in and put on her best coat in preparation to meet their captain. Then, she waited on deck as her crew dropped anchor.
Hatchet, who had been trying all night to get Pierre to utter a word without fail, looked up from his spot near the stern with a hesitantly excited smile. Looking to Isabella for orders, he realised there was no way she actually knew what she was doing. He changed his focus and looked to Pierre who was already reaching for his knives tucked in his clothing, looking at them from under his wide brimmed hat.
They both were pirates at heart but couldn’t complain when Isabella recruited them, since even though she just seemed to be some kind of merchant with a fancy for sailing, she paid everyone well and even read stories to them at times-which was great, since Hatchet couldn’t read and who knew what Pierre’s deal was?
Meanwhile Alexander, staring out over the sea with his black eyeshadowed eyes, didn’t even look at his crew behind him. Instead, he simply murmured a, “they’re dropping anchor, do so as well” to his right hand man.
“Tell everyone to be prepared too, I’d rather not. Grab me my coat on your way back too, if you’d be so willing.”

"Your image is intact, sir," he said softly as he grasped his hands. "You're the most feared pirate in all the world, a single tiny spell of illness cannot ruin that."
Pluto rubbed his knuckles gently for a moment, looking up into his eyes. The devotion in his blue eyes went beyond the fearful submission most of the crew showed. Pluto would stand by Alex long after he had nothing and no one else.
He let go slowly and inched away before turning tail and scurrying out to the deck.

"Good grief, Captain, you've been struck down with fever," said Pluto sheepishly as he pulled on the tunic. "Perhaps you should sit," he added. "You collapsed on me."

"Captain," Pluto grasped his hand before he could stop himself. "You're ill. You'll be fine, you need medicine, that's all."
He let go of Alex's hand as he shuffled past Beverly to search for herbs.

"We are not friends and he is a god."
Pluto glared down at Beverly. His voice was icy cold and his eyes were dark.
"We are not friends. We are not equals. Your absolutely daft, lily livered, rich girl who plays the role of captain passed on an illness to him and I don't need your help to fix him but since he's here already you've made it your job. If you fail him I will gut you and that's not a threat my dear that is a promise."

Teddy Marino, one of Bella's scrappiest rascals, couldn't hold back his grasp. "Pierre, you- you're- your beard! I knew it was too perfect! Besides, a man with your jawline wouldn't grow a real beard."
"No, no, that's cashmere. Goat fur. Do you like it?" Bella chuckled as she watched his eyes wander.
"Oh yes, he does. He always cuts them first though, get the blood flowing so the sharks know their supper's ready."
Pluto grinned cruelly at her.

"You can call me sir," he said bitterly. He pushed the journal back. "I don't know how to write."
He was pretending. Pluto had come from nobility but had run. He knew everything there was to o ow about posh, comfortable life and he tried desperately to forget.
"That one's poetry," she said earnestly. "Most are fiction. A few are instructional manuals for surgery and the like.

Pluto half glared down at her, arms folded.
"Pass it on to who?" he asked with a sneer.
Isabella nodded.
"Come, come, to my cabin. Come along. In the meantime, call your crew over! My men will make them comfortable!"

'A couple of weeks, perhaps?'
Pluto looked down the aisle. How had this happened? How had he been railroaded into marriage like this? It made no sense. He didn't know the girl, she didn't know him, so why were they doing this? All to stop a war?
In truth, he did understand. But he didn't like it.
Belle was just tired. She knew she couldn't stop this marriage without causing other people harm, but she wished for a way out anyways. She studied Pluto as she stepped closer, barely avoiding tripping over the long dress she was in.
