𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓  𝐈𝐒  𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐓  𝐎𝐍  𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑,  the  girl  far  too  deep  into  a  world  of  darkness  that  success  is  never  enough,  that  revenge  is  a  dish  best  served  cold  and  bloody.  they  know  that  really,  truly,  the  best  course  of  action  for  their  future  is  a  lot  of  therapy  and  an  attempt  at  a  normal  life.  they  know  that.  but  the  call  of  the  void  is  hard  to  resist,  and  the  girl  must  admit  that  they  enjoy  the  feeling  of  blood  on  their  hands  just  a  little  too  much.  tearing  those  men  apart,  mauling  them  and  leaving  them  a  barely-human  mess  feels  cathartic.  that’s  what  they  all  did  to  september,  tore  them  apart  and  left  them  feeling  less  than  human.  those  men  took  their  body  from  them,  broke  parts  of  them  that  they’ve  only  just  learned  are  broken.  blood  and  guts  and  gore  feel  like  home  now,  and  there’s  no  safer  home  than  one  filled  to  the  brim  with  the  rot  of  the  corpses  of  men  who’d  abused  them.  they  long  for  the  sticky  and  disgusting  mess  that  is  blood  stained  skin,  long  for  the  hours  of  scrubbing  in  the  shower  that  never  gets  rid  of  the  pink  hue.  they  were  born  in  the  blood  and  gore,  they  spent  their  entire  life  there.  now  they  have  finally  learned  to  embrace  it.        ❛  you’re  right.  ❜        lie  seeps  through  tender  smile  so  easily,  sickly  sweet  words  reminiscent  of  candy  coated  razor  blades.        ❛  the  best  revenge  is  to  be  happy.  ❜        and  they  will  be  happy,  once  they’ve  had  their  fill  of  the  violence.

september sits at such an interesting nexus between being a brilliant liar and a horrible one. they’re good at being sneaky and keeping things secret, it’s a pretty big part of how the stuff with robert remains hidden for so long, but when it comes to actually being confronted about something and asked? they can’t lie for shit. i think most of september’s “lying” ability is in their general ability to be deceptive, to blend with a crowd and go mostly unnoticed even by those close to them. that comes with a huge limitation, though, in that it means that they don’t have a clue how to deal with actual confrontation. between never learning how to lie in a confrontation and the fear that robert put into their head about confrontation in general, any form of it leads to september being supremely anxious, often quiet and stuttering, and that very easy gives away the truth. sometimes they’ll still try to lie, but unless the person confronting them is oblivious as hell or just doesn’t care what they’re saying the person will be able to tell september’s avoiding/lying.

they want to. god, they want to. their hand trembles, gun gripped tightly, knuckles white. they’d taken it from their father’s room, had no idea exactly what they intended to do with it but soon found themself at will’s doorstep. it seems only natural that they’d end up here, all of their strongest emotions focused on will. anger is easier than grief, but it seems that slumber doesn’t get a choice in that — eyes are wet with tears, they’ve clearly been crying for a long time. the gun isn’t even aimed at will, it doesn’t need to be. they both know that they wont shoot him, they couldn’t. even if they pulled the trigger, the bullet would never reach will, would never pierce his flesh. if jane gets mad enough there’s a chance that the bullet would only end up in themself. maybe that’s what they want. ❝i should.❞ their voice trembles, their tears audible in their words. they know that if they do anything even remotely wrong that will could kill them in a heartbeat. this trip is just as much self destruction as it is revenge, they’re entirely aware of what will can do to them. so they raise the gun, aim it right at him, as if knowing exactly how this will end. they look at will as if it’s a challenge, because it is. they want him to do something, to hurt them, to disarm them, whatever he sees fit. their rage at will is just as much rage at themself, they truly believe themself to be just as at fault as will is. if they hadn’t gone to that dinner, if they’d just left with their father, if they hadn’t made him mad… maybe he’d still be alive today. most people are very aware that it’s a good thing that he’s gone, but slumber thinks otherwise. ❝you gonna stop me?❞
