All Gilen wore in terms of coverage was a simply black, zipped up jacket with the hood up. Not a whole lot of insulation. It was his fault for not realizing it would get colder later on and only throwing on a jacket under a short-sleeve shirt. Bad judgement, which he mentally kicked himself for. He’d been walking home from a local record store with a few CDs in a bag, too excited about the new music to notice the cold until now. Really, he should thank Teisius.  

He was about to deny him yet again… but then he mentioned Belarus. He perked up, stopped walking, and turned to look at Teisius again. She’d been a strong source of support for him — and still is to this day — so there was no way he could deny her, even if she was merely mentioned. He exhaled before nodding. “…Fine. Alright, I’ll get a better coat. How is she, Nastassia, by the way?” That was one way to get him talking.

      “Oh?” ...he hadn’t really expected Gilen to bother continuing to talk to him, but it was a pleasant surprise, “Uhh, she’s doing fine.  Good.  She likes to visit my dacha in the early fall because it’s quiet and not as hot.  But it’s less quiet when she practices the flute...” he winced at that.  He was pretty sure his sister did it badly on purpose sometimes.

       “Have you not spoken to her recently?” he knew they got along pretty well, even if Nastassia was a bit of an oddball.  Teisius wouldn’t have it any other way, really, he loved his little family.  Reminded him that he ought to call Latvia soon and set something up, it had been a little bit since they had hung out.  The modern world was so busy.

Gilen jumped at the familiar voice and his head turned to face the source. As soon as he saw just who had spoken to him, he looked ahead again with a stony expression. Clearly, he’d recognized  Teisius. He shook his head as he responded through signing, “No. I am fine.” His hands trembled slightly. Almost instantly after he’d settled his hands back in his jacket’s pockets, his body betrayed him by showing exactly what he’d denied. He sighed, rolled his eyes and continued walking. Just his luck, running into Teisius like this. All he wanted to do was to walk home in peace and alone.

Teisius blinked- the other was clearly in need of a better coat if he was shivering that much.  Perhaps with fur or cotton lining.  “Gilen,” he followed after the other, keeping pace as well as he could, “Do you need a new coat?  I’ve got coupons to a department store, Nastassia just bought herself a new coat and she gave the coupons to me,” he supposed that Gilen didn’t really need to know all that, but still, he was never known for being quiet when nervous, and he still felt a strange sense of responsibility towards the other, even if it had been a long time since he had been the responsibility of himself and Poland.

“Ahh,” he rubbed the back of his neck.  “Or we could get a drink?  I haven’t seen you in a while.”
