Scarlet nodded, motioning to the other to go grab the gun. The tiny black haired girl nodded, moving out of the room for only a minute or so. The ginger had yet to smile at all, though she did seem in a better mood than usual. 

“So, on a purely client based curiosity, what is it that ya do? ‘S not often we get folks like you in here. Usually it’s either people who are tryn’ to commit somethin without their name on it, or people who’ve been comin’ to us for years. It’s nice to see a new face an’ all, but you gotta admit, ain’t nothing wrong with bein curious.” 

Lilith returned, holding the gun case out to Kris. It seemed brand new, and hopefully it was exactly what the girl wanted. 

“Oh, I’m sorry. I can understand how tough that must me. Older ones are always more reliable. What exactly happened to it?” The southern drawl was more obvious now, as it had always gotten when something really piqued Scar’s interest. Though her face stayed blank, it was obvious she had somewhat of an idea what she was looking for when going through her current supply.

“I’m guessing glocks are what you’re most used to. Darlin’ we got quite a few of those. Some even personalized because someone has too much free time and likes to get into shit.” Cue a giggle from the girl in the corner.

“We also have machine pistols, though they’re generally harder to use due to their size. For you, I think sticking to a glock would be best, since it’s what you’re most used to. We got all kinds of those, our most popular being G27′s. Though a lot of our buyers just go from what little knowledge they do have.”

It was rare to come across other weapon dealers with such a pleasant attitude, honestly it made the dealer feel just a bit more relaxed. It was a nice relief from constantly having to be on guard, a needed change, something she wished she could experience all the time.

“Y’know, maybe a 27 would be a good change.” Momentarily a rare facial expression is seen, one of thought. When you hardly have time to think, you tend to forget how to, and just go with instinct always. Another reason she liked these sellers, they gave you time to think, rather than just pushing the issue and trying to get you to buy the most expensive gun around that would bite the dust within a few weeks.

“Fuck it. Hook me up with one of these bad boys.”

“You forget I know you better than you think I do. I learned from the best, after all. Yea! They really like the custom designs I can do! I’ve been getting a lot better at them! Scar is really happy about it all, too. I think her dad woulda been proud.” 

She seems to be waiting expectantly for his response to the hat. The guy who made it called it ‘The Madison,” but Lil knew very little about hats in general. She thought it would fit him, though. “Trust me, we did pretty well on our own! But next time we go on a trip, you should come with us! we went out and did a lot of fun stuff, too! I missed you a lot!”

Lil bounces a little once she’s on the ground, reaching into her over-sized bag, obviously new and probably expensive. From it emerged a circular box. A hat box. “Awww, you’re gonna make me blush, Kal! Buuut here. It’s custom made. And trust me, you’ll get to hear all the juicy stories from the trip!”

“Guess you caught me there. Can’t believe my lie was seen through so easily, maybe I am getting old. Your company is growing though? That’s wonderful, Guppy. Looks like you guys are going to be playing with the big fishes soon.”

He has a genuine smile and honestly can’t find it in himself to attempt hiding it. He’s just happy to have his friends back and to know they were doing well. He reaches to take the box and look it over a moment. “I better. You know I have to make sure no one gave you two trouble while you were gone.” He chuckles and opens the top of the box, peering into it.

Scarlet talks with a monotone, laying out the catalog of weapons they have on hand. Another girl sits in the corner, playing on a small console while the transaction goes on.

“So, any questions?”

“Well honestly, I was just looking to replace my glock, I had a fight and it got fucked, poor baby’s been with me since day one.” Pain seemingly coated her face for a few small moments, surely no one could be that attached to their gun, yet Kris had actually cried when the glock bit the dust. “But now…. all these guns are so cool and unique, it’s definitely going to be a hard choice.” She couldn’t replace her favorite gun with just anything after-all, it had to exceed her expectations, feel amazing in her hand, and have just enough kick to it for the adrenaline to rush through her.

“I’m really at a loss here. Maybe you could recommend me something? It has to be portable, and shoot fast. Though it doesn’t have to be automatic or even semi-automatic, just have a quick reload time, nothing that takes forever to reload.”

He should have seen this coming. He should of known sooner or later this was going to happen. What did he really expect? Did he really expect to not be betrayed? Yes. That’s the worst part to all of this. He didn’t see this coming. He didn’t think she’d be the one to kill him. He didn’t see her to be the one behind the trigger.

Yet here she was, standing before him with a gun pointed and hands shaking. She doesn’t want to do this, he can tell. Where was Scarlet? Why wasn’t she here? What was going on? Why was he more worried for them then for himself? Had he really grown so foolish?

There are tears in her eyes as Lilith holds the gun. Never aim the gun unless you are prepared to kill them. She knew if he survived this, he’d never forgive her. Hell, she’d never forgive herself. But she had to. For Scarlet. They had her and they would kill her unless… Unless she swallowed her guilt and did this one thing. 

The look on Kalahan’s face. He had to feel so betrayed right now. would he defend himself? God part of her wished he would. That he would pull the gun on her, shoot her dead before she could even pull herself together But no, he wouldn’t do that. He was too good to them. That’s part of why she loved being around him so much. 

She heard her name. No, not Lilith. Guppy. He wanted a reason. She couldn’t give one. It was part of her punishment for not paying enough attention. It was what those people wanted. 

Hands shaking, she tried to look at him. The face that would haunt her nightmares. The last she’d see of him whether this ran him through or not. Lilith couldn’t deal with the emotions of it all. 

The first shot was nearly deafening, and it was almost like she missed on purpose. It hadn’t even hit him. The second one landed before he could get his questions out. 

The gun fell from her hands as he fell, sobs wracking through the room, the sounds of apologies falling from her mouth. They’d gotten what they wanted. They’d have to let her go, now, right? They had to keep up their end, right? 

That was when she bolted, the feeling of bile rising in her throat. Emptying her stomach into an alleyway behind the building as her phone rang. Loud coughing and a spit was heard before answering, the voice on the other end congratulating her. 

She screamed, throwing her phone to the ground, smashing it to bits under her foot. 

She would not let this go. Not now. Not ever.

Lilith had already started pulling the candles out of her pockets. They were pastel pinks and purples with a fun spiral shape. She seemed the most excited about this, but she was always excited about birthdays. The small girl was the only reason Scarlet even did anything for her birthday. Lilith’s own was another level entirely. “Well, it was more or less a question of how to do birthday stuff for someone who doesn’t like theirs. Lukily for y’all, I’m the princess of birthday parties!”

She’d never admit that this childishness stemmed from her not being able to have a good childhood, and she pushed those thoughts aside in favor of a smile of her own. Careful hands placed the candles in the cake, shortly moving to Kalahan and motioning fo him to hand her a lighter. 

“I’m glad you like it! I was really hoping so, since all I had to go off of was what I heard. But we both like flowers and pink, so there was something I could work with! And you kind of remind me of Scarlet, my girlfriend. She did admittedly help me with the cake and some of the presents.” Again, she was rambling on, looking back at Sylvia with a big, child-like grin. 

“Also, you seem very nice, and very important to Kalamari, so of course I’m happy to make this a good day fo you! Should we sing, or do you just wanna blow out the candles and make a wish?”

“I’m going to assume Kalahan told you that…” It was true, she never liked her birthday. The day for her always seemed ordinary at best but with the added feeling of needing to repay anyone that got her presents. Though she’d forced herself to stop thinking she owed anyone anything years ago. Plus she in general didn’t know how to deal with receiving presents or the type of attention that came with her birthday. So needless to say birthdays for her weren’t exactly the best of days. Typically she just spent them with Kalahan, drinking wine and snickering as he made a fool of himself by getting drunk off his ass. It was one of the few times he ever got that drunk and one of the few times she laughed. So maybe birthdays weren’t all that bad.

She almost smiled at the girls excited rambling over something she saw as so silly. But she caught herself and kept herself from actually smiling.

“Thanks. I…” She glances to Kalahan then to the girl again and this time doesn’t stop the faint smile that forms. “I do appreciate this… Candles and a cake, I haven’t really had those for my birthday in years. That’d be nice.”

Lilith’s smile never faltered, even making sure the cake didn’t fall as she was hugged. She was kind of proud of herself, mostly because she did something good for someone Kal cared about. She was careful as she put the cake down, moving to hold out her arms as a sort of ‘surprise!’ gesture. “Happy birthday! I know I was told you hate your birthday, but it seemed so important and just-- I had to help out! I made a cake, and I helped pick out presents!” 

She rambled a little bit, but she was too excited to care. Birthdays were important to her, no matter if she knew the person or not. 

“I hope you like it, though! I have candles if you wanna put them in the cake! You’re also prettier in person! I’m so excited to meet you!”

[This is late bc i forgot bc im a dumb buuuut] A very tiny woman has brought a very decorative cake for Sylvia's birthday. There are presents, too, but she's not the one carrying those. Her responsibility was to make sure the cake got there in one piece.

When Sylvia got offwork and came back to her apartment the last thing shewas expecting to come home toowas a stranger in her apartment. Shewasn’t surprised to see Kalahan grinning behind the smaller girl but shewas surprised he’d managed to sneak her inwithout Sylvia noticing sooner. She looked between Kalahan and the strange girl before looking to Kalahan. “Was this your idea?”

“Nope! Thiswas all Guppy’s idea!” He grinned brightly and slapped his hand on Lilith’s shoulder, balancing a stack of presents in one arm as another stack sat on top of the coffee table. He seemed genuinely happy and excited for this little party he and Lilith had planned. “Oh and by theway, Lilith this is Sylvia, Sylvia this is Lilith. My best friends finally get to meet each other!” He uses his arm to hug Lilith closely.

“You did this?” She asks looking to the smallerwoman clearly surprised that thiswasn’t Kalahan’s doing. She goes silent for a long time not sure how to respond until finally. “Umm… Thank you…? You can stay. If you like.”
