now that’s interesting cause as far as I know here in hungary we usually make it without cream so it looks a lot more red because of the paprika

BUT☝️ since that looks extremely good I had to try it and now I can totally live with the thought of people thinking this is hungarian mushroom soup🙂‍↕️ (oh and I added lemon and all I can say is you should absolutely do it too!!)

It looks like this. Pretty basic, just broth with mushrooms, paprika, cream, herbs. I saw a couple recipes that added a dollop of sour cream and some lemon juice which sounds sooo freaking good I will have to try it sometime.

okay sorry in advance this got horribly long but it just shows how good your video essay is

finally got around to watching this and oh god I have soo many thoughts. first of all: fantastic job!!! you put all of this together soo well! it’s a hard topic of course but it’s important to talk about it. a country like the usa that got used to it that coming from its geographical position it doesn’t have to expect any possible danger on any of its land borders or even on the coasts (I know it's not the main issue in the era of long range weapons and cyber warfare but still it's important that us troops never really had to and probably never will have to fight for their country ON their own land) and the last time that it was physically attacked on its own land by another country was in ww2 so since then to prevent any similar event it has the urge to become the biggest military power possible and has its troops deployed all around the world and feels obligated to “keep order and peace in the world” (guys everybody look up how many active military base the us has everywhere in the world rn it’s frightening…) and when senses the slightest aggression towards itself strikes back with full power immediately using the situation to serve its own purpose and yet (or more like because of this) can’t do anything against an attack within its borders… and this was such a generational trauma that it could be used to justify the whole process that was already in motion. jesus christ the whole thing is just a big lie and hypocrisy dressed up in a fancy dress (or wooden camouflage lol) you just built up the history context so good it shows how much energy and effort and research you’ve put into this. maybe you could’ve mentioned the gulf war too because of its pretty direct connection to gwot but I know all these topics are huge enough by themselves and you didn’t want it to be too long - it’s perfect in the way it is anyway.

also I’ve learned a lot from this about modern-day veterans and holy fuck… the us already has a history of treating the veterans like shit but now I can see the situation hasn’t gotten any better. there are so many good films about the effects of war on the human soul and what kind of life and reception the vets should face after coming home. of course the most (in)famous case are the vietnam vets if we think about "the deer hunter", "born on the fourth of july" or even "apocalypse now" in a way (hell even "rambo") but if we're talking about the gulf war then "jarhead" is a so unique piece as well (the whole film but especially the vietnam vet bus scene at the end or the last scenes showing how impossible it is to readjust to civilian life after an experience like that even if he hasn't even fired his gun...) or if we're getting to the iraq war era then I know "american sniper" is a much more conventional piece but at least it shows perfectly how one can lose their connection to reality and even to those who're supposed to be the most important for them and used to be the anchor for their sanity... america sending out its children to fight its mostly incorrect and unjustified wars and after they sacrificed their mental health (or even more) for your cause you don't even provide them a chance for a clean start or the opportunity to deal with the trauma after they get home (IF they get home) is crazy cause of course fancy parades and annual memorial days will fix everything. having the whole "thank you for service" cult but in reality those are just empty words... it makes me sick. you finding and using those blogs of the vets made this whole thing so HUMAN and it was like a punch in the face seeing the real effects of the war this clearly and from this close...

so sorry again for the novel on your post but I was so excited on your video essay and it was just soo good and made me think about so many things and aspects.. but I guess that's the main job of a video essay and if your main purpose with it was to be thought-provoking then well done
