So like warhammer 40k, are they in trouble because they only have 40,000 warhammers? Do they need more?

The Imperium of Man is said to have over one million inhabited worlds, if the thrones of planetary governors are any indication. Ignoring the warp routes and wilderness space, and considering that not all are so dense as the 30,000 or so hive and forge worlds catalogued by the Administratum, that's still well over ten million equivalencies to modern Earth, which is estimated by Ernesto's Encyclopedia of Hammer, Mallet, and Gavel Estimates at 4,000,000 hammers with a lower limit for functional construction rates at 3,500,000 hammers, the humans of Warhammer 40,000 would need over 3.5 trillion hammers to maintain their technocratic society.

So yes, they are in dire need of more hammers if they only have 40,000 warhammers, which are noted by Ernesto's Encyclopedia of Hammer, Mallet, and Gavel Functionalities to be incapable of efficient sledgehammering and ball-peening.

I bought this during the lockdown. I intended to do something. But there was a but.

But (see what I did there?), I want to do something now.

I've got a list of websites and YouTube channels. I'm going to dig out some Ogres and sacrifice them on the alter of experimentation.

Time is marching on. I can't keep saying I'll do it tomorrow or next week. They arrive sooner than you think, blink, and suddenly it's next month and the day has passed.

I'm off work soon. I'll have time. Best do something with that time.

Making a gift for a buddy who thankfully doesnt have a tumblr. @the two mutuals who know him dont say shit pls thanks lmao.

I was gonna applique this - i did for the other design, making a throw pillow - but this is so pointy there was no way that was going to work with the fabric i have. So im learning embroidery on the fly lol.

The nice thing about this being a symbol of chaos (its a warhammer thing) is that i dont have to be exactly perfect about it lol. Its supposed to be chaotic and weird and fucked up. Hopefully he likes it... hopefully itll be done by august lol.

Trials and tribulations of being a queer in this hobby -

So i moved. New job (yay!) New state (eh, feels like a lateral move). After a month or two to settle in, i went to the nearest LGS for their hobby night.

Homophobic as hell. I refuse to mother men older than me. So thats out.

Theres a coffeeshop near my place with a pride flag in the window that does art night. Awesome! But the lighting is awful for mini painting. Ive got other hobbies but i wanna PAINT damn it :(

Next step: show up at a card shop and see if i can bully them into art night. Or the library. Or both? I dont wanna have to spearhead something but i guess i gotta :/ running errands on tuesday anyway so ill report in then.

back again encouraging people to start using the hobby stuff they've been acquiring for years

reasons to start can include:

the hobby industry wants only for us to keep buying and never use, so using the stuff pushes back

some hobby items do not survive long term storage

if there's some craft or hobby thing that you want to do but feel your skills aren't up to, consider that those skills won't improve if you don't practice on other things

using it allows it to move from the hobby hoard to the [whatever you made it into] hoard, where you may be more likely to enjoy it more often than just when you specifically look at the hobby hoard

making things is good for the brain
