“But uh I honestly don’t remember my brother played that more, not me. Maybe it’s just a weird coincidence the universe and multiverse is huge enough for things like that I guess. Your… Torchic? is pretty cute though. They look harmless enough.”

                      “---torchic’s not that dangerous!! here! y’can hold him!”           she shoved the pokemon into the other’s arms. “he spits fire, but only           sometimes. he hasn’t done it in a while--well, a couple weeks ago he           caught a cold and was sneezing li’l embers all over the place, but i’m           pretty sure he’s all better now. i think.

                   that’s not t’say that all pokemon’re like this though. there’s            a lotta wild pokemon that’ll attack you without even hesitating.”

She was definitely caught off guard with the other suddenly grabbing her out of the huge amount of people. For a moment Hanayo thought if she knew the girl from sometime before, but it didn’t seem to make any connection in her mind. An adventure..? There isn’t any way that she would know what this girl meant by that term, it can be interpreted in many different ways. If she didn’t ask then she wouldn’t find out! It could always be really fun!

“What do you mean…?”

           still wearing a sizable grin, may clasped her hands behind her and rocked back and forth on her feet. of course the girl would ask questions--who wouldn’t?!--but may wasn’t sure she wanted to answer just yet. she was more than willing to pay for the girl to be able to play a few games, but only if she said yes.

                “---is that a yes? ‘cuz i’m not gonna tell you unless you say yes.”

        It took Gary to analyze the Hoenn Trainer in front of him. Yup, definitely one of Ashy-boy’s companions. Although he did hear it from his grandfather.  Ever since he came here, all he ever does is research the mysterious appearance of Pokemon in Hive City. Some of the Pokemon he never saw before really did captured his interest. His Squirtle and himself had agreed to stick together.

       “My name is Gary Oak. I’m one of Ashy-boy’s childhood and best friend.”  The boy said, gesturing towards himself with a sincere smile on his face. Well, he hasn’t that arrogant type of Trainer everyone thought he used to be ever since he changed. A small smile formed on his face. “Pleased to meet you, it’s nice to see someone familiar at least once in a while.”

      “Squirt!” The Pokemon whined, he can’t believe his Trainer has forgotten him and Gary looked at him. He groaned, Pokemon usually take after their trainers… The boy cleared his throat and introduced his Pokemon also. “And this is Squirtle, he’s my Starter Pokemon.”

          ash. ash. ash. that named sounded familiar, and may had a feeling that maybe he was mistaking her for someone else? he seemed rather sure about it, though, so maybe she’d just forgotten something. giving him an odd look, the brunette decided to simply go with it. his surname definitely resounded with her. she put a bright smile on her face and extended her hand out toward him.

                    “---well, y’already know my name. can i ask you a question?             are you by any chance related to THE professor oak? i mean, i dunno             how common your last name is, so it could be a big coincidence, but--”

     torchic chirped at her side, prompting her to pick him up and give him a slight squeeze. he didn’t particularly enjoy being at her feet for too long, and knowing his trainer, torchic was sure that if he didn’t speak up she’d forget about him amidst the conversation.

                    “oh! and this’s torchic. he’s my starter pokemon.”

Squirtle was quite in a hurry today. He quickly took off in a sprint and Gary has a hard time keeping up with him. Boy, was this something. The Researcher groaned in annoyance. 

“Squirtle, wait up! I’m trying to keep up.”

“Squirtle!”

Squirtle was even stubborn himself. The turtle Pokemon pouted and looks at its Trainer. He was pointing something as if he saw a ghost.

“Alright, buddy. What are you trying to tell me?”

Then it dawned on him, Gary turned to see a girl in sporty clothes. Has he seen her before? Gary raised an eyebrow. 

“Hold on, I think I know you.. You’re one of Ash’s traveling friends. Am I correct?” He inquired, unfortunately he does not remember her full name. “What was your name again? June? July?”

           walking around mindlessly had quickly become may and torchic’s favorite pasttime. without other trainers, they didn’t have very much to do around hive city other than wander so it served to say that may had become pretty well acquainted with the city. she and torchic would walk around and battle the occasional wild pokemon that popped up, however without pokeballs they remained a two part team.

     out of the two, torchic remained the more vigilant one. while he was fairly comfortable with the new surroundings, he stayed on alert whenever he and may were out and about. especially when her eyes went out of focus. that’s when he knew she wasn’t paying attention to anything around them anymore. it was fairly troublesome, especially as he was now--keeping her in line was a lot easier when he was a blaziken. 

     so, it went without saying that torchic was the first to notice the boy arrive. chirping and nipping at may’s exposed leg, he brought her attention away from that particularly fluffy looking cloud and toward the kid. though, she would have focused on him as soon as she realized that a) he had a squirtle with him, and b) he seemed to be familiar with her.

                    “---may... my name’s may. um, who’re you?”
