We should absolutely be polite, kind and empathetic to RC's staff about the update delay. It's always been clear they work really hard and want to deliver the best product possible. I wish they'd announced earlier that the update wouldn't be out today, but their statement this afternoon was great.

But at the same time I don't really understand the perspective I've seen repeated a couple of times that we should be 'grateful' they're introducing these new social features. They're a business who introduce new things, because they want to increase the app's success and profitability. It isn't altruism even if they do want to make their fans happy.

It's great they listen to feedback and take suggestions on board, but at the end of the day these will be business decisions.

Personally I have zero interest in using RC as a social app, so I won't be trying out these new features. That doesn't mean I don't want to see the company thrive! I'd just prefer to financially support them another way (like if they had an international merch store).
