There will always be something about a hand on the upper thigh.
A hand, cold, in a hand, warm - clutched. A head on a shoulder, on a chest -
in bed, on the sofa. A kiss on the forehead,
on the knee, on the knuckle - before a kiss on the mouth,
on the corner, between the cheek and lips. A kiss, on the top of the head.
Tenderness at a distance. Silence on the phone.
Something about a cup of tea, just how you like it - without being asked how you like it.
Something about falling asleep, being sure of it - just knowing.
And waking up, warm, feeling just the same.
