Waving goodbye to normality, to everyday routines and structure. This rhythm is something that has always been a part of me. I often wonder where that comes from?

Something I came across on my way back home from Leeds to Fife
DUNBAR BATTERY HOSPITAL, DUNBAR, EAST LOTHIAN (Demolished)
This small isolation hospital that was set up in the Napoleonic battery that had never seen use, but had been maintained, more or less, since it was built. It was turned into an isolation hospital in 1874, a belated response to the 1867 Public Health Act.

The Viewing Room
I’ve seen this view many times, but it is only now that I understand the depth and beauty of it all. Like the old wooden plaque that reads ‘Holmsgarth’ on the outside of my door, the door I’ve used my whole life, which now reveals and speaks, through its definition to the current state of affairs.

I have been submerged into my past life. It's confusing. All the things I left, in the same place. The creaks of the floorboards that before, weren’t heard, now ring loud in my ears. I will be here for a while. Curiosity overtakes me. Maybe it’s time to explore this place. Explore it from a new distance.

Sense of Space
What is the difference between the physical and virtual space?
Halie Chametzky writes: ‘No, You’re Not a Bad Person If You Don’t want to take Virtual Dance Classes’. As she states: “These classes, and the posts from students taking them, are often accompanied by language about how class is essential for dancers’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, and how this is an opportunity to connect with one another in a time of social distancing” (Chametzky, 2020)
But does that work if your ideas about dance are formed through the physical relationship in space with others? Without real time feedback or the dynamics and energy of friends and teachers, it remains difficult to feel connected.

Listening again to this space - It might be better to gather images, a journal, a sketchbook of thoughts that I can use for future possibilities. I am thinking how much material is here in this one space, from the series of views, from childhood memories, to details of the house…

The View From The Window
Like a painting it is set before one, But less brittle, ageless; these colours Are renewed daily with variations Of light and distance that no painter Achieves or suggests. Then there is movement, Change, as slowly the cloud bruises Are healed by sunlight, or snow caps A black mood; but gold at evening To cheer the heart. All through history The great brush has not rested, Nor the paint dried; yet what eye, Looking coolly, or, as we now, Through the tears’ lenses, ever saw This work and it was not finished.
