the thing is...why would you want daniel not to be an asshole. like. what do you gain, story-wise, from him already beginning as The Voice Of Reason (he's not!) and beyond criticism. that man has an ego the size of brazil, his accomplishments and age have given him tools to work with but not much empathy, his family hates him because of the things he does and says, he feels superior to everyone including Louis and Armand, he's self-indulgent and he's a bully. And he still has time to you know. Improve at least some of this. So why would you want him to be The Good Guy, or god forbid, The Audience Substitute (he's neither!) in this series.
