Bittersweet perfection that gives you that gives you that push to start your day, but what is the perfect cup of coffee? Well of course it all depends on your taste. Or sometimes more if you order Ubereats? Well to save your dollar you can make your fav. creations with Homia coffee maker!
Rule 1: It’s all about the beans!
Every good coffee expert will tell you that your bean selection is key to a great cup of coffee drink. Pick fresh beans from your nearest farmers market if you want to support your local farmers, otherwise you can purchase your favorite beans from the supermarket or coffee shop.
Don’t buy big name brand coffee beans, try and get less processed local products.
Check roast date, the fresher the better.
Don’t buy in bulk just what you need since the beans level of acidity may change the more time passes.
Rule 2: Store correctly
Once you get your beans empty them onto an airtight container and store them in a dry dark area of your kitchen. Oxygen and bright light can jeopardise the quality of the taste of the sacred dark nectar!
Never refrigerate!
Buy bean in vacuum sealed bags and sturdy boxes; this will definitely ensure their freshness.
Rule 3: Choose your beans wisely
Between wine taters and coffee taster we don’t know who’s worse! The best tasters in the world differ in their opinion about which beans are the best; but they all agree on not recommending big name brands on their lists!
What to keep an eye on for good beans!
Let’s recap, to get high quality coffee beans they need to be vacuum sealed inside a sturdy box or an airtight container away from the light. Be sure to purchase them from a local coffee shop or a specialty store for the best conditions.
Now this is where your preference comes in to play, choose a brand that clearly state the country, region or place of origin on the packaging. Here in the Sunny State we enjoy a good Cuban coffee but some coffee expert top 5 are Colombian, Brazilian, Peruvian, Italian and French.
Arabica and Robusta:
According to the coffee experts there are two main types of beans, the Arabica and Robusta. The Arabica beans are much more produced in the market and are characterized for being rich in flavor and are blended together with other variants to create different flavors. Many tasters prefer this bean because of its wider range of flavors, enriching once palate.
Robusta beans are blended into the less expensive brands, taters consider it to be bitter and it contains a much higher level of caffeine. These beans are not so popular among coffee experts because it’s limited flavor variants.
Rule 4: Ground your own:
According to experts the best way to make sure that your coffee is fresh is to STAY AWAY from store bought ground coffee. The moment beans are grinded they start to lose quality and compromises the taste.
For optimum taste, the best way to make your coffee with any method is with freshly grounded coffee beans. Especially when you using our Homia coffee grinder that completely pulverise your beans into even and fine texture; the finer the blend the more you can detect and appreciate the taste! Also who can resist that powerful arome dancing across your kitchen during the grinding process. Especially when browsing with a one cup coffee maker, espresso machine or coffee machines.
Rule 5: Clean water makes a happy cup of Joe!
Using clean water during the brewing process is key to not only a tasty but also a healthy cup of coffee. All the chemicals like chlorine and other minerals that resides in tap water compromises that balance of the fresh beans as well as possibly causing health issues.
Use filtered or bottled spring water during the processes and a quick tip NEVER use distilled water in your coffee because it will damage the taste and quality.
Rule 6: Keep things clean:
Clean storage containers and grinders every few weeks to remove any oily buildup. At least monthly, run a strong solution of vinegar or specialty coffee-equipment cleaner (e.g., Urnex) through your coffeemaker to dissolve away any mineral deposits. Rinse thoroughly before reuse.
Top 2 Best Brewing Methods
Single Cup Coffee Maker
The hero of hectic mornings is here! Our single serve coffee maker can brew the freshest cup of coffee with just the touch of a button!
If using whole beans, grind the beans with our Homia coffee grinder to a uniform consistency. Transfer the grounds into a k-cup filter, then place in the machine. Pour water pour the amount of water needed paying attention to the blue scale inside the coffee maker.
Close the water compartment and press the power button, but don’t forget to place a mug under the drip!
The machine will turn off on its own once the coffee is done brewing. Be sure to clean your machine once a month by filtering through a mixture of water and vinegar or descaler, which removes any built-up residue.
Pour Over Method:
Now if you have more time and want the best tasting coffee, this method is numero uno! Like creating a caffeinated work of art with its delicious and aromatic undertones for a perfectly complex cup of coffee.
First, bring water to a boil in a kettle.
If using whole beans, grind the beans to a uniform consistency similar to granulated table salt.
Meanwhile, put a filter in the brewer and rinse with hot water. This removes the papery residue on the filter and warms up the brewer, keeping your coffee hot for longer. Discard the water used for rinsing.
Add the grounds to the filter, making sure the surface is level. When the water is between 195°F and 205°F (about a minute after removal from heat), slowly and steadily pour just enough water over the grounds to saturate them completely, starting from the middle and working your way outward. Stop pouring before the coffee begins to drip through. This is called the "bloom" pour, which allows the coffee to de-gas.
Slowly pour in the remaining water, keeping the water in the dripper between half and three-quarters full. This should take 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully remove the filter, then serve and enjoy.
Fun Facts
Water temp. Is not just for tea!
It turns out that if water is too hot it makes coffee taste bitter, so to avoid compromising the taste of the dark nectar is best to keep your temp. at 200 degrees F.
Reheating, boiling or prolonged holding on a warming platform will make your caffeinated friend bitter.
Measure your treasure!
The standard measure for brewing coffee of proper strength is 2 level tablespoons per 6-ounce cup or about 2 3/4 tablespoons per 8-ounce cup.
Using less coffee and hotter water to extract more cups is a big nono! Since it not only makes the brew bitter, the reality is that your drinking colored water, not coffee.
Good filter make or break it!
Experts can’t stress enough that using cheap paper filter will really damage the quality of your coffee! Look for "oxygen-bleached" or "dioxin-free" paper filters.

KFC Fried Chicken Recipes in Droid Air Fryer
Ever since the Great Depression, KFC has been bringing fried chicken to American tables - or buckets, to American families everywhere! Most of us remember having family dinners on Friday evening with the coronel since grandma never cooks on the weekends!
The signature red and white bucket passed around the dinner table greeting up your hands. Instead of noting your mom's remark on your table manners, one by one you lick your fingers with a smile of sweet revelry! Hence the phrase "It's finger likin' good."
The crunchy kfc 11 herbs and spices recipe was sought after for decades by many! Almost as much as the very popular red velvet cake. Yet we must admit that our childhood bucket kentucky chicken doesn’t taste the same as it use to be.
A big change from then and now is the chicken itself and the use of MSG, so we were thinking,
“Hmm, maybe we can make a copycat out of the original kfc chicken recipe and make it healthier than the one sold today!”
Of course no one used/fed antibiotic, hormones, etc. to our chicken during the Coronel’s era and definitely no time for MSG! We admit it was a challenge trying to recreate the 1940’s kfc fried chicken recipe. So we decided to up our game and take it further! Homia appliances decided to take this kfc recipe and air fry it with our Droid Air Fryer!
So before we get down and dirty or should I say sticky? We should talk a little on how this super secret, not so secret recipe got leaked! Well, there are two versions to the story but they have a common element!
It turns out that a nephew of the Colonel Harland Sanders, other say this person had married into the family, found the recipe handwritten by the Coronel himself and sold it to the press. Although the recipe was locked inside a safe, but one of the original slipped under the radar glued on a scrapbook, who knew!
So this recipe can be used for every part of the chicken but what makes this recipe so successful is that they soak their chicken in buttermilk overnight! The natural acid base of the buttermilk kills any germs that the meat may have but it increases tenderness for that signature juicy chicken!
Ok, here we go!
Ingredientes:
2 cups of all purpose flour
Buttermilk (as much as needed)
1 egg
2/3 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons white pepper
1 tablespoon black pepper
1/2 tablespoon basil
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon dried mustard
2 tablespoons garlic salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1/3 tablespoon oregano
4 tablespoons paprika
1/2 tablespoon thyme
Now be prepared to to have messy and sticky hands to make this healthy copycat kfc recipe!
Instructions:
In a container large enough to hold a whole chicken and pour the buttermilk along with 1 egg and mix. Then submerge the chicken (or chicken pieces) in the mixture and let it sit overnight.
The next day, begin your dry mix with 2 cups of flour and the 11 salts and spices.
Dunk the pieces of chicken in the dry mix multiple times (7 to 10 times) for complete coating.
Place the chicken pieces (wings, thighs and breasts) in the air fryer at least an inch apart from each other. Set the heat up to 395 degrees fo 18 - 20 minutes.
This recipe calls for 4 tbsp of paprika, however you can reduce the it to 2 or 3 if you have less amount of chicken. Also, for extra crispiness be sure to coat multiple times and try to avoid white or “bald spots.”,mm
For our other KFC classics, it all depends on how you cut your meat! For example, the greatest mystery in the fast food industry is which part of the chicken is the nugget!?
Well my friend the infamous Popcorn Chicken and its cousin the nugget come from deboned chicken thigh and/or chicken breast chopped into these shapes and coated with “The secret formula.”
Instructions:
Now, for these cuts specifically you do not need SO MUCH paprika 2 tbsp will suffice.
Coat each piece and cook in Droid for 15 to 18 minutes or until gold.
A great take away of our little experiment is to apply a bit of spray on oil on any white spots on your chicken and gold it at 360 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes. Try these recipe with your own Home goods and let us know how it turned out through our social media pages!
