Crimson-stained hands shook uncontrollably as adrenaline surged through his body, doing their best to evaluate his fiancé for signs of immediately fatal trauma. The vehicle had mounted the sidewalk, thrown the other man into the air and driven off into the night, leaving Oskar with the sickening thud of bone hitting concrete echoing through his mind. At his instruction, witnesses called in the accident, offering their assistance as much as they were able, but it was the worrying onset of unconsciousness that demanded Oskar's attention. The sable tungsten band hugging his ring finger still felt alien, a surprise proposal brought to a horrific conclusion.
