Local freight on the Conway line por Kevin Madore Por Flickr: Crews from New Hampshire’s Conway Scenic Railroad prepare a local branch line freight in the yard just south of the old B&M freight house in Conway, NH during the railroad’s August 2019 Railfan Weekend. The power is the beefy former Candian National 0-6-0 #7470, a Class 0-18a Switcher built in 1921, originally for Canada’s Grand Trunk Railway. She’s been operating here on the Conway Scenic since 1974. On this particular day, the railroad operated a photo freight to Conway in the morning, and I was lucky enough to purchase the last of only about 15 tickets that were sold. All photographers rode in the caboose with the Conductor. The locomotive pulled the train from North Conway down to the freight house in Conway, where the train was arranged as you see here. Some freight loading demonstrations were then conducted, as well as a few run-bys at the freight house, before proceeding back to North Conway. Later in the day, the railroad also ran this train out to Bartlett and back.
