It's not on the news because they dont want the wide population to find out and put up a fuss, but people are. I encourage you to be more mindful of whats going on online and the laws that are passed on your accessibility to art and other contents that are in your right to purchase without payment processing businesses interfering.

There was a subreddit that popped up on r/all for me recently called r/HarryPotteronHBO, a post about some characters that had just received their casting announcements for the new HBO Harry Potter show. 

I was intrigued to see what the discourse on that sub would be regarding J.K. Rowling’s politics, and was confused when there wasn’t a single word about it…

…until I saw the subreddit rules.

One of their rules states that discussing her politics is not allowed, with the following explanation:

“To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment, this subreddit does not allow discussions about J.K. Rowling’s political beliefs, public statements, or involvement in real-world political or social issues.

This community is for fans who want to discuss the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO and the wider universe including the books and films. Conversations about the author’s personal views often lead to division, heated arguments, and discomfort for members who simply want to enjoy the world of Harry Potter.

We recognize that J.K. Rowling’s political commentary has affected how many people engage with the franchise, and understand that her activism has negatively impacted transgender individuals. However, this subreddit exists to focus on the fictional world and to give fans of all backgrounds a space to enjoy that world without being drawn into broader political debates.”

Obviously, this is a load of horseshit. 

If you’re literally saying, “we recognize that we’re promoting the work of someone who is actively harming a marginalized community buuuuut…”, feel free to stop right there and begin reflecting on why you value your entertainment more than the lives of other people.

You know she’s harming trans people.  You know she’s using her wealth to do it.  You know promoting her new show will add to her wealth.

You know your promotion of the show is harming trans people.

The rule begins with, “To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment…”

There is nothing inclusive about promoting content that harms marginalized communities, especially when you recognize that the content is doing harm.  You don’t have the ability to say “I had no idea!”, you’re literally acknowledging that she’s doing harm. 

Just say what you really mean.  Just say that you don’t care about trans people.

I’m more mad that you’re pretending to be inclusive.

Listen, I loved Harry Potter growing up, I did!  I was the same age as Harry as the books came out and it was touching and fun to read.

…but sometimes we need to decouple ourselves from things we used to enjoy when they cause harm. 

In the case of Harry Potter, it’s not like there aren’t other fantasy book series out there, there’s plenty to choose from!  If you’re still consuming Harry Potter content in 2025, just admit that you value your nostalgia more than other peoples’ lives. 

At least you won’t be a liar.

Life of Lamb #11: Meeting Bear

We're finally introducing a second character! This is Bear, based on my partner @bearabouttown. They'll be showing up occasionally in comics going forward!

I do have some other side projects in the works I had eluded to last week, but in the interest of not burning myself out, I'm not going to be giving an ETA on any of them at the moment.

I realized in the middle of the week that I had bitten off more than I can chew, so I'll be taking some extra time to properly take a break before I engage in anything besides the regular Saturday comic uploads. Thank you all for understanding.

- I am mildly allergic to, very specifically, romaine lettuce. Apparently it's not supposed to sting.

I’m trying to be a bit more ‘out there’ with my gender expression so I’ve been wearing makeup and some pretty ostentatious earrings while at work (and my trusty pride badges in case it wasn’t completely obvious that I’m queer af.)

It definitely presents a conundrum to some people as I’m quite obviously masculine (what with the beard and all) and I’ve had some funny looks but nothing negative. The two kids were just being typical early teenagers with their no-filter discussion of me but they ended up being very cool about it and I think I may have made a couple of fans.

Full disclosure, I don’t have all my stuff in yet, but I’m working on it!

It’s bizarre how many flaming hoops that trans people need to jump through to get medical care in America.  Like, I totally get that there’s a need to make sure the patient is capable of making these decisions and are aware of the risks involved, but beyond that, the amount of “are you surrrrreeeeeeeeeeeee???????” we need to go through is silly.

Like, I’m not sure how many people wake up one day and on a whim think to themselves, “You know what I should do today?  A major surgery that I never thought about until this very moment.”

According to the horrific political ads that swayed the hateful and ignorant of the USA, doctors are just giving out trans surgeries on the street corners, forcing them on people, even.

As someone who is desperately trying to get this type of medical care, I can confidently say that no, doctors are not lining up to force Americans to be trans.

If you believe that, or voted for people who were spreading those lies even if you didn’t believe them, I don’t know what to say other than the following…

Shame on you.

I wanna talk about Nocturna

she's a pre-crisis on infinite earths character, and i'm not sure if she ever really came back afterwards. or at least, not without fundamentally revamping(ha) the character. She certainly isn't one batman's better known rogues, or even one of his better known love interests.

but here's the thing: i adore her. she is so clearly and completely a noir femme fatale, to the point that she is LITERALLY black and white because of a medical condition and Commitment To The Aesthetic.

her morality is hilarious. she's not concerned with "good" or "evil," she is ONLY concerned with "elegance." stealing is fun, violence is crude. she is obsessed with the "Beauty of the Night" and literally wears some kinda drug every single night to heighten Whatever The Hell That Means. bruce gets super high from being near her. it is unclear whether he actually loves her or if he's literally addicted to her presence. and i don't think she realizes this, because she's high out of her mind every night already.

She knows he's bruce wayne and is uninterested in spilling the beans because she wants him to come to her willingly.

Most importantly to me at this exact moment, she hasn't particularly shown any jealousy over bruce standing next to other women. unlike EVERY OTHER ONE OF HIS LOVE INTERESTS RIGHT NOW. and, you know, knows his identity so there's no tired misunderstanding fights.

anyway, 10/10, bring this character back, i think she's a really solid rogue/love interest.
