I like Ellis’ stuff to preface so I’m not trying to pile on, I’ve just never seen sturdy claims that she’s Jewish before this post and usually the opposite but that she knows some Yiddish phrases a lot of Americans do which may have sparked the debate

You know thinking back on it it's absolutely batshit insane that the take Lindsay Ellis got cancelled for was "Raya and the Last Dragon cribs heavily from Avatar: The Last Airbender" when she's said in no uncertain terms that she doesn't like The Prince of Egypt, literally one of the most universally beloved movies of all time like yes I know it wasn't really about the quality of the movie it was about her being white a criticizing a movie that's about Asian people by comparing it to another piece of media about Asian people but like objectively it was also an extremely lukewarm opinion
