“Still, very incredible!” she clapped her hands and found herself giggling not unlike a child. There were a good number of competitive swimmers all over the islands that made up the region and they boasted some pretty powerful forms themselves.
“You should enter a competition sometime! Maybe challenge the visitors from the Hoenn region~.”

A few seconds pass before he realizes his question was likely a pretty rude one, and he briefly shakes his head, raising a hand to knock his knuckles against it after.
“Sorry. Um–I just… N-nevermind. Anyway, you’re kinda right about the recluse thing. If I don’t have to go anywhere, I usually just don’t bother leaving.”
That line from her about how someone who was a captain wouldn’t do exactly as he does (though of course, she couldn’t have known his schedules completely either way) prompts him to frown, and he tilts his head to one side.
“Well, I dunno. The captain situation on Ula'ula has always been kinda.. weird. Maybe the Kahuna just doesn’t care ‘nd that’s why someone like me was made a captain. ‘s not like I ever claimed to be a good one in the first place…”
Now it was Hapu’s turn to frown some. Not only did he appear to be underselling himself, but the kahuna of Ula’ula as well. Why would he do such a thing? It was baffling, but more than that: saddening.
“I think Officer Nanu’s decision is sound. Both you and Acerola are fine captains I believe, exceptional in your respective fields. Please do not think you aren’t worthy...”
