ur some unpopular opinion(s) about ikeseries

Hmmm

I don't really know so many of the popular stances to know what's unpopular or not for most of them so these will be guess work based on what I've seen said/ignored/people take offense to, except ikevil where it's easier to see general opinions since it's newer, maybe. I tried to do two for each of these.

Ikevil:

Kate might actually be the worst MC, because she doesn't actually make sense with her background/knowledge when she reacts to various things and seems shocked by how dangerous the world is (Victorian London was very dangerous and a commoner would know that!). The vast inconsistencies in the most basic aspects of her character from route to route isn't actually a good thing, and it is not how Cybird has done the past Ikemen MCs, so the excuse she's there to be a self-insert doesn't work.

Not really an opinion, but the fandom keeps treating it as such: having sex with someone who wouldn't otherwise consent while they're under the influence of something they definitely didn't consent to is not dubcon, it's rape.

Ikevamp:

Since all of these LIs actually did all of their historical actions, Napoleon is definitely not a good guy and should be treated as more of a villain than pretty much any of the other characters. Drake at least was treated questionably, though even he got way more sympathetic writing than he deserved. Napoleon did absolutely monstrous things while he was alive. Also it's weird everyone keeps treating him like he has any sort of power or authority lmao

Do other people not have a problem with all of Theo's "dog" related talk? I never see people complaining about it even in older stuff, but it's always jarring for me. I don't care what the root of it is or that he like dogs, it comes across most of the time as him dehumanizing a WOC and it's weird as hell.

Ikesen:

....Hm, idk....The usage of the changing timeline affecting Mai's health/existence was already stale and boring after the first few times and it being an integral part of most of the routes/sequels feels more like lazy writing than any attempt at cohesive worldbuilding.

The game and its characters/stories can't be removed from Cybird's overt nationalism and imperialism. That all the ways that the imperial family could be depowered are ignored except for attempts by villains in a way that would destabilize the country is a good example of that. Kicho being more offended by what he was offended by than stuff like WWII and consumerism/capitalism, etc, is another one.

And along with that, Motonari is a blatant display of Cybird's colorism and his motivations are actually not bad but he's treated like some evil chaotic creature in most of the routes instead of being given sympathy for what is a far more noble goal than pretty much anyone but Nobunaga and his believers have.

Ikepri:

I thought of a good one lmao: The Belle system isn't that bad, actually. Is it a great idea? I mean, no, there's a lot of issues with it, but most of those are Cybird refusing to go deeper into Belle lore and worldbuilding than it is with the actual idea of a purehearted commoner woman choosing the next king. It's not actually worse than any of the other systems we've seen so far in the game and arguably better than some of them, because at least if she's influenced during her decision making it means that prince is probably someone that can influence others, as opposed to something like the prince just being good at ordering his siblings assassinated or the king preferring one prince's mother over another's.

Pretty much every single route falls apart in the end, even the best routes have some pretty shaky writing, senseless logic, and/or have to ignore other characters or even things that happened in the route itself in order to work. Some of them recover better than others and some people are more willing to overlook the massive faults either because they like that LI or the earlier parts of the route were actually good.

I think you guys forget that Salaì is actually SUUUPER smart. I mean, he was Leonardo's apprentice after all. He helped him build things and work on inventions. Leonardo would have bounced ideas off of him to help get his mind going. Even with Salaì not creating inventions himself, he listened, and watched Leonardo work on these.

Plus he knows a lot about anatomy. Not just from painting..but Leonardo used to dissect bodies to study anatomy better, so Salaì possibly helped with that.

He knows a lot about pigments, oils, lighting, anything that has to do with painting, and probably even a bit of chemistry for mixing paints.

I have this whack ass headcanon that Salaì managed to fix the door when it got fucked up. He can't tell you how he did it. He's never seen the blueprints. He has no clue how the door even works. But he somehow fixed it in the afternoon.

He could hold an actual conversation with Faust if he wanted to.

But he's just a compulsive liar and an alcoholic so everyone thinks he's just a little eccentric like Dazai.

Ik he's categories as a very strong gruff guy which is great but he is also so smart and literally an art dealer and appreciator,,,

Definitely gets his art history degree in the future

Does the most with his second gift of life

Helps underprivileged kids get into art

Funds unknown and poorer artists and gives them a place to workshop all the way to the modern era

Sarcastic and a lil mean but definitely 'unlearns' period typical behaviour the quickest

Is convinced by mc that the modern world has a place for kind of art from all different people

Always learns about different art mediums

His cover name never had to be too different to blend in, but the time period is very close to his original so I think he would take his wives name as a cover in public or at least include it somewhere is his name

Would love a family but feels guilty over his human life

Cant draw or paint so he gets really into photography!!!

Seeths the whole time but works on BBC sherlock

Personal vendetta on the actors for no reason

Before the door stops working asked comte to bring him modern medical and biology books so he can help the residents and most importantly the people of the era who are most at risk

omgg i don’t even care about making this post pretty i just had to get it out that salaì is canon. WTHHHHH they literally took your @yanderepuck EXACT story line. OMGG you probably have the most biggest ego for the Leonardo art they practically HANDED IN YOUR LAP.

okay so i was stalking your page trying to find out something about salaì and saw you mention the residents call him Gian. In the chapter i read, there was a guy who was friends with Leonardo who was called Giancomo. I searched him up on google only to find that was his MIDDLE NAME!!

bro. salaì WAS the first person leonardo bit (im low-key jealous wthhhhh) he was close to dying after being attacked by robbers who stole his money (he was gonna use it to buy a gift for his sick mother </3) so leonardo bit him and turned him into a vampire. after that they were so pure and when Leo had to move cities they were all like “let’s meet again with our eternal life” awwwww.

but then salaì lost the reason to love because his mom died so he got himself in a shit ton of trouble, so now people were hunting him. and he asked leonardo to kill him (my shayylaaaa) and leonardo, wanting to put him out his misery, did.

now my chapter analysis:

i almost cried when reading because Leo’s time with vampire salaì was soo good he started trying to see how to make humans have immortality. but now he felt guilty because he was the one who gave salaì the enhanced powers that came with being a vampire, in turn causing salaì to become a trouble maker, and inadvertent leading to his demise. that’s soooo tragic.

what makes it even worse is that leonardo was just unlucky. having salaì be the first person he turned into a vampire was ultimately what caused his trauma. because imagine the one time you bite someone it goes so HORRIBLY WRONG that you end up having to put them down. would you want to bite someone ever again? probably not. because one bad apple ruins the bunch.

and it wasn’t even truly Leonardo’s fault, salaì was the one who misused his powers. Even the mc acknowledges that all the residents are lesser vampires and they’re doing just fine. so it wasn’t a matter of leonardo making him a vampire, it was a matter of the character of that specific person.

this was a very heavy chapter, we got this beautiful but sad art work of Leo. and we finally have the reason why leo is so against turning people.
