MIDDY JUMPSCARE-

Hello. Bonjour. Greetings. Hola. Despite all accounts, i live once more. After 7 years of this blogs existance and more then a few of those being inactive, i once again crawl back to my sweet gal. She never really left my brain but yknow-

Anyway. I'm having thoughts. I am tempted to return to this blog!.. After overhauling it, of course. Updating art, deleting old shite, rewriting pages, all those fun chores.

But middy, dont you have fefe on a mulltimuse?

He sniffs, fingers itchy for a cigarette at all this tension. Maybe one of the kids had a sneaky pack somewhere he could confiscate.. “We have rules in place, i’ll be outside their rooms at night.. You just gotta figure out all the fancy stuff. Mediate.”

Granted, he didn’t know what he was doing either. He couldn’t ted talk the kids himself and was sticking witht he only other adult around. Ennie figured he’d stay up all night as he promised, but other then that.. He had no game plan. But it didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try and help around.

“Don’t get complacent in letting them die. That’s it.”

——— “I am trying.” He snaps back. “But I’m smart enough to know that even I have limits. And I’m… “

He hesitates.

“I’m terrified, alright?! I’m terrified that they’ll hurt eachother and that I’ll be helpless to do anything.”

——— “If you think I wouldn’t try that, you’re mistaken. I just… I don’t know how to protect them all. I can’t keep an eye on all of them, twenty four seven. They wouldn’t want me to. I don’t know how else to protect them…”

He never really knew how to protect anyone. Even his methods to protect his own daughter had backfired tremendously- he tried to engage her to a soldier he knew who would protect her for the rest of her days. She ran from the engagement, and from him.

——— He flinches. He hated how he knew that Ennie was right. “I.. I do care. I do care, I just… even I don’t know what to do here… I can’t teach what I’m unsure of for myself. I feel so… useless.”

He'd had a hell of a long week, work had been harder then usual. Ennie thought he saw it all before, but god damn if people could get bodily fluids in some tight fucking spaces.

... Not in the fun way, either.

He simply glanced to the side when he heard someone take a seat next to him at the bar, giving them a look up and down before back to his drink.

They were cute, but he didn't have the energy to say much, so many late shifts...

——— “And I know how teenagers are. I care for them, but it’s inevitable. I’m just being realistic.” He gets defensive.

Ennie seemed to sour a little at the comment. “Shouldn’t you have some faith in them? What happened to the whole ‘i care for these kids’ from earlier??”

“Sorry, it’s pretty much ingrained into my being at this point.” Asshole.

Off he goes, occasionally passing some students. Some were looking for supplies, others were just poking around, and then there was a small group who were messing around and wading in the ocean, their shoes left on the beach as they splashed each other and generally seemed to have a good time.

“… Guess it’s not all doom and gloom, right?”

——— he sighed. “I suppose not… though, I’m assuming it’s only a matter of time before one of them breaks the rules and winds up dead.” He didn’t seem to have much hope or faith in their group.

——— “Cut the sarcasm, would you?” a sigh, but he follows the janitor regardless of his lack of patience for antics.

——— A sigh. “Fine, fine.” It was clear the professor had a hard time trusting anyone in this situation. “Though, those are the words I’d expect from someone hiding some secret evil.” He remarks in half-jest.

——— He nearly stumbles forward due to the force of it. He straightens his tie after recovering his balance. “Yes, well… let’s just hope they stay out of trouble.”

——— “I suppose. Yes. But I’m going to encourage you all to use this time productively. Find resources, learn about this island. Try to fish or hunt or gather. Learn it’s layout. Pretend this is a hands-on assignment. “

Ennie finally spoke up, he’d been having issues with some sleep fears more recently, and this situation surely wasn’t likely to help it, so why not use that extra time to be useful?

“… Also i’m not a teacher so i’m not legally responsible if someone tries something shady and get a mop to the face.”

… Well, he was getting the point across at least. No leaving your rooms after nine or deal with a grumpy janitor.

A few hands went up before coming right the fuck back down, seemed they got their answers.

——— “Ahem.” He didn’t seem too fond of the Janitor’s methods but… they seemed to work, so he kept his critique minimal. “Let’s not promote threatening anyone here.”

As more hands went up, he’d answer questions one by one. 

“Now… due to the circumstances, I will not be assigning new homework. I expect us to need to keep busy with our survival on this island. Thus, education will be a secondary priority for now. No penalties will be delivered for last week’s assignments being overdue, and no tests will be administered.”

The janitor simply watched from near the door, quietly looking over the students and their reactions as their teacher spoke.

There were some more murmurs among the crowd, but nothing loud enough to be a complaint or rebuttal. Their supplies were indeed limited, no doubt to create a motive to begin the slaughter, but hopefully through some foraging and smart planning they’d be able to last for a while.

“Er.. Sir?” A student near the back raises their hand, the horror fx artist who was practically blinding with their choice of pastel pink attire. “… Is there gonna be like.. A schedule or something?”

——— The professor gives a nod. “I think that would be beneficial. There should be at least a curfew. I’d say, everyone should be in their rooms by nine, and out of their rooms by seven the next morning. We’ll need to hold each other accountable, and we should try to stay in groups of three minimum at all times.”
