Eddie would show Steve real music this, Eddie shows Steve the wonders of Lord of the Rings that----I get it. But have you considered....... Steve gets Eddie into those ridiculous, smutty romance novels? The ones that even if they're bad, they're good. Have you considered Steve getting Eddie into the Indy 500? NASCAR? What about cooking shows? Cheesy soap operas where Steve literally knows every insane storyline by memory?
WHAT ABOUT EDDIE GETTING INTO STEVE'S INTERESTS???
Steve gets adopted by Hopper, gets a bi crisis, and gets to kiss Eddie Munson. Not bad.
A very sweet snapshot fic of Hopper adopting Steve and becoming a dad to him and El over the years. All told through the lens of Eddie's issues with authority, or just some shitty teenagers. It's a nice, sweet read with Hopper being the biggest ally for his son.
I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.
My family was firmly middle class, though my mother liked to act like we were far better off. We had family friends who were wealthier than us and she'd always be spending money trying to fit in with them. She'd always have extravagant demands for holidays or her birthday and would guilt my father and I into spending beyond our means for her. She turned her nose up at diamond earrings because she didn't like the posts. Made me, her (at the time) teenage daughter, waste every dime I made at work on designer purses. She kept us in a financial chokehold for years until I finally bailed, six grand in debt.
As a kid, when your parents are poor, you're poor. If they don't have money, that means none of you have money. But if someone's parents are rich, that doesn't necessarily mean the kid is. Sometimes rich peoples' kids aren't rich kids, they're just some rich freak's exotic pets that can talk but aren't allowed to.
You know when you're checking out a new fandom and you stumble across a writer/artist you loved in a previous fandom and it feels like running into a childhood friend at a bar
I need Steve to hotwire something in season 5 because he’s actually so much more Observant than people give him credit for and he learned just from watching over Eddie’s shoulder and I need him to have his moment please
Also I love that Steve was genuinely interested in watching Eddie hotwire. He’s like “I’ve been hunting monsters and screwing around with government operations for years, how come I don’t know how to hotwire?? And I love cars, I’m a car guy, why don’t I know how to steal one?? This is a skill I need, show me now.”
