hi all,
it's been a fun ride over the last few months. I've been working for a bit on a google drive of every monkees episode in 1080p HD, and I'm pleased to finally be able to post it! hit the readmore for the link 🐒
it is now monkee time ✨🐒✨
please feel free to spread this -- to friends, discord servers, upload it as a torrent, whatever. all I ask is that you use good judgement and not tell a million zillion people, or publicly post it to large audiences on twitter/reddit or something. less eyeballs on the link = more time it remains available for us. I'm sure there are other monkee google drives out there, but I would love for this one to stay up as long as possible 💖
ALSO if you have free disk space, I highly recommend you download the episodes from google drive and watch on a computer using VLC/mpv/etc. not only will you have the files saved in case the drive is taken down, but most episodes have extra audio tracks with commentary! the commentary tracks will not play from google drive, you have to download the MP4 files to hear them. subtitles for all episodes are also available.
that's all I've got for now -- I'll be starting 33 1/3 this weekend, but wanted to do this first. enjoy, and let me know if there are any quality or playback issues. --monkeesmvs

I’m not really active here any more, but I am still around and of course I heard about Mike today.
I don’t have a favorite Monkee, irl or in the show, and I stand by that. But Mike’s music....I’ve always connected with maybe a little faster than any of the other guys original stuff. This is an acoustic version of “Tapioca Tundra” that’s really more of a demo, but it’s just Mike and the guitar in one of my favorites of his.
His humor, his wit, his silliness, his vision, and his presence, will be missed.
“It cannot be a part of me, for now it’s part of you.”
An acoustic (I assume demo) version of Tapioca Tundra. It’s slower than the released version, which is actually closer to what Mike wanted originally, but the slower tempo really lets the beautiful, poetic rhythm of the (admittedly nonsensical) lyrics shine through. Taken from here.

So I’m watching White Collar (s3e3) and a character is informed she needs to put on a Manchester accent for an undercover protection detail.
Her response is “A dialect? Are you joking?”
It’s probably a coincidence but I choose to believe it was a shoutout to Davy.

I was just asked on the BML FB page about Burgess’ “strange cameo” on The Monkees. Here we go!
The Monkees and Batman were each other’s big competition (Monkees on NBC and Batman on ABC). Burgess was actually offered a role in one of the earlier episodes of The Monkees titled “Monkees in a Ghost Town” to reprise his role as George in Of Mice and Men with Lon Chaney Jr. - who was in it! It would have been such a cute episode and a real treasure but sadly NBC would NOT allow Burgess to appear.
So as soon as it was known that Batman was not going on for another season, they asked Burgess to appear on The Monkees, but this time dressed in a VERY Penguin-esque outfit (notice how they only allude to the Penguin - minus the dark brown hair, purple hat & nose appliance). This was a pretty huge deal that Burgess did this and was really meant as a diss and slap in the face to ABC. Burgess’ cameo was shot totally separate and alone and was used as kind of a stock footage to be placed in an episode later - which is why you see him sitting alone at the table and never actually seen in the same shot with The Monkees. His footage was used in the second to final episode of The Monkees titled “Monkees Blow Their Minds” - video of part of his cameo below! Click here to see the entire footage and whole episode.
