Reasons to ride

This is my lesson horse, Phoenix, I did so much with her- galloping, jumping, dressage, trail riding, reining, and my first near-death experience. Here's how it happened- one day we were out on the trails, when all of a sudden, a deer comes sprinting out a little more than 2 feet in front of us. This, of course, spooked Phoenix, who galloped down the hill with me holding on to her mane for dear life, we came up to a stream and did that stop her? Nope. She galloped over, leaving me horseless with a concussion and no sense of direction. She came back after noticing that I was gone, and we rode back to the barn where I was taken to the hospital. The End.
It’s been a while guys! Maybe even a few years?! But I've been busy! Going through my BHS stages and am now training for my stage 2 coach after passing everything with distinction /brag) then stage 3! If it all goes to plan by the end of next year I will be training for my stage 3 teach! fingers crossed. busybusybusy!!
Okay so I had a fall in august from a 16.2 horse when I was in canter. I used to be really confident but since the fall the thought of canter terrifies me. I mean I used to jump! I've just got a pony to loan(not far to fall off if I do😂) but I'm so scared to canter her. Any advice! Im confident in trot it's just the thought of my last fall works it's way into my head when riding!
first of all I have no idea how old this question is so it might not even be relevant and for that I apologise Id suggest taking it back to basics! go onto the lunge or even take your stirrups away and work from there. make sure your seat is super secure and then maybe try a few strides in cantering the lunge! then your confidence will come back unfortunately it will be one of those things where you just have to face it straight on cause avoiding it won't help you learn anything!
