Poe still feels the scars, wakes in a sweat in the middle of the night remembering the sharp edges of Ren’s mind tearing through his to get information. 

I won’t give up on him. Neither will you. Whatever it takes.

The pilot stands on the other side of the cell, safely out of reach. Though he wants nothing more than bring down the shield. To reach out to the boy he once loved and remind him of who he was. 

He wants to deny the nightmares, but it’s impossible. They blend in with dreams of another time. Two boys climbing the Force Tree on Yavin IV. Ben showing off his growing skills. Touching his mind. But then the darkness grows and he’s being torn into. No one asks questions. They all have their demons. Few people know what Ben Solo meant to him so long ago. 

The pilot takes a breath, refusing to rise to the bait that is being offered. He knows what Ben is doing and he’s not going to give in. “Ben...You don’t have to do that. It’s all over.”
