"Have One On Me" comparison :
-Right location, Wrong decade-
As Joanna said in an interview, a model in a some parisian art studio around 1920 in Paris (France) is one of the inspirations for the HOOM cover photo. Here we are back again in Paris, at the Alphonse Mucha art studio. More than the general view of the atelier, the pictures of the female models posing are much known (often depicted in art books or exhibitions). In doing my reserchs, I found colored versions of the black and white photographs, it is an other paralels withe the HOOM cover. In the 1900's the hand painted photographs was less colorful or bright than the ones made in the 1920's. But with the models posing like that, with those look and attitudes, I canot do otherwise than making a link with the Joanna Newsom cover album. So, here it is!
Once again I'm not sure if all the colorisations are from the same time or was making later , in a more modern work, but they are beautifull and seems authentic so I post it as true ones.
Fun fact : the not so much dresed gentelman plaing harmonium on the lasts pictures is no other than the famous french painter Paul Gauguin. He was a close friends of Alphnose Mucha and share his art studio for a time (due to a lark of funding after his first tahisian trip). As we can see here, they were close enough for one being allowed to appear pantless, and the other to take a picture of him in that garment!
