I'm rewatching Derapchus Lifesteal VODs in their entirety for the first time and about 30 minutes in he says something I personally find really intresting. They got on the topic of discussing revives and bans on the server and he says something that I was really surprised to hear because of how he was saying it.

"I genuinely thought it would be really funny if I banned myself on first day" [...] "The Unban recipe is so expensive." [...] "It's really hard this season. Like it's very hard to revive people."

It's so intresting to me how Derap could have been one of the first players to be banned and he wanted to be. Especially considering the fact that in the end, one of his only goals was to have everyone unbanned. Not just that, when it comes to discussing the crafting recipe, Derapchu actually crafted and used the most Revive beacons this season (And I honestly think he has the record for the most revives done in a season but don't quote me on that.)

Derapchu of all players knows that the beacons are expensive. In his final moments in Lifesteal we see that they're so expensive he can't actually create his final Beacon that he needs. However we see Derap is actually REWARDED for his efforts on keeping everyone and the server itself gifts him the last of his materials to craft it.

In my opinion, while he was no where near perfect, he still was deserving to be chosen by the server to be rewarded for his preservation, accomplishment and the actual process there. Derap never held his ability to revive when people over peoples heads (Both those who needed to be revived and those who wanted someone revived), he never expected kindness from the people who he did revive, and finally he revived players that other people.

I might get into it all in more detail in a big master post about Derapchu however this connection to Revivals and Reviving players makes him stand out so clearly against the rest of the players because his connection with lifesteal doesn't lay with Bans and Being Banned.

That's the norm, and what's expected, but Derapchu despite everything, made a conscious effort to not let himself conform to the cruelty of bans. He may have done it himself, but he brings those players back each time. He made a conscious decision not to ban himself at the beginning of the season and stuck by that the entire season. Players such as Mane and Flame however, who dedicated themselves to banning players however, cracked and had to ban themselves.

(A little Extra:

Derapchu, despite seeming like he never wants to create a revive beacon, is the only player actively rewarded by the server itself for doing it. He set himself two goals this season - Protect PrinceZam, and to have no banned players - and he completed them almost perfectly. One of the few players to do that, by the way. It's almost like the server is thanking him for making sure everyone (even Spoke) gets to end the server without this restless feeling of Being Banned. He's rewarded in many many other ways, too, like Midmystic giving him her mace and if I remember correctly some of her hearts. I really want to make a separate post just about how he got chosen by the server in the end however I thought these belonged here! :P)

I do think it's safe to say now that Derapchu's goal for the end of the server has shifted. Not that it doesn't revolve around Zam anymore, obviously, that could never change in the very end of the season. It's more about the exact details.

"At the end of this server, the only thing I want is to still be your teammate" was what he said all those weeks or maybe at this point even months ago (paraphrased). These were the words of a man, who more than anything feared being abandoned again, who finally found his stability and a person who returned to him, whose entire existence was defined by having someone, Zam, his sun, by his side.

"...But, I guess, at the end of this season, my goal... is to keep you alive" was what he said to Zam a few days ago ("A Prince's Legacy"). Spawn only matters because of Zam, all those buildings matter because of Zam, everything only matters because of Zam. Notice how he's no longer part of the sentence. It's no longer "You and I", it's just "You". There's no "I want to be Yours", only "Keep You alive". These are the words of a man who has pulled himself out of the equation, who abandoned all sense of self in the name of one person. He is but a dwarf planet circling around the Sun. He is Pluto, and he does not mind being excluded out of the Solar System if it means his Sun gets to shine in the end.

Therefore, I am a believer that this "betrayal" plot is either forced by an outside presence (a 3rd side) or is a self-sacrificial mission focused on keeping Zam alive no matter what, no matter if he can be there with her or not; a Pangi-like situation, he doesn't see it as a betrayal but as a means to an end, a way to eradicate the infighting between those against Doomsday or something along these lines. It doesn't excuse him, it doesn't mean it's not a betrayal, but it's the only thing that makes any semblance of sense considering Derap's character on Lifesteal so far. A true betrayal would never make sense for him, not when he spent all this time fighting tooth and nail to stay by Zam's side.

Hmm yeah, at the root of it all, Derap is a liar. He’s manipulative and conceited and lies every other second. He’s forgetful as well which leads to accidental lies. He’s loves hiding things to make himself look better. He loves lying about how things happened to make himself look better. He’s constantly sprouting little white lies as well. His story changes everytime he tells them. He doesn’t have many real morals and anytime he claims to have one, he’s probably lying

walked around a little bit. thought about the tulip crumbs from "paradox // survive" a little bit. i have a silly doodle in mind but i also now have angst in mind. ohhhh i have a mini-comic in mind.

so yk how my derapchu design has two wilting tulips on his chain. and yk how derapchu wrote "im never speaking to wemmbu again". do you see what i am putting down. so..?

Just thinking about Derap again :// 97 days. Yknow, like spent alone. Building that stupid ship miles away from spawn, from everyone else. Just how long he was alone for. Months. Building that ship in the middle of nowhere for someone who didnt like him. Visiting an empty Zaun that no one cared about but him. Just him building, interspersed with trips to the Nether for quartz. All alone.
