           his silence doesn’t come as a surprise. she’s expecting             him to lash out, get all of the negative feelings of her out.            instead, he’s gentle and then he’s kissing her.

                         surprise is evident in the moment she hesitates,                           though it only lasts a beat before she’s kissing back. 

                                 ’ does it make me selfish to want the same thing? ‘ 

           he lulls in the moment of silence, fears it was wrong,              almost     but revels, cherishes, when she kisses him            back, like it's the best feeling in the world, like he'd            spend his very last breath on this.
