ToKillAKing: The King is Dead, Long Live the King https://awal.lnk.to/videogames So it’d be odd to start this without mentioning what a worrying time this is, we hope you are all well and safe and able to keep sane during this strange hand we’ve been dealt with recently. We’ve always had the most thoughtful, kind fans so I know that you will be doing what you can, even if what you can do is stay indoors, out of peoples way. So it’s been ten years since To Kill a King first started writing music together and we decided way back in December, which does feel like an age ago now, to release a track a month as a sort of retrospective to mark the mile stone. We decided to call it ‘The King is Dead, Long Live The King’ After recent events we decided we should go ahead with the release as people probably need entertaining now more than ever. These will all be tracks never released, although some of our loyal patreons maybe remember them. They were never considered to go together in the same way as our other releases, each one is an independent snap shot of a time and should be seen as such. As you probably know our line up and sound has changed over time, so as I say in terms of a flow of an album this is going to be pretty patchy, but I’ve picked the songs because I like the songs, and I think you’ll enjoy them too. There’s some demos of songs that never quite fit into an album, there’s live tracks from shows that perhaps you were at, and covers of songs we love like this one. We recorded Video Games when we were just starting out and everyone we knew was obsessed with this song. I heard it got voted track of the decade and for once I agree with such a lofty claim. Anyhow enjoy it and keep checking in because there’s going to be a track a month until this year is done. 10 tracks for 10 years. This King is dead folks, long live the King. Lots of love Ralph, Ben, Grant, Josh and James

sheet music!
Mostly Bastille, a few Charlie Barnes, and To Kill A King // through here
Over the past years (2013-2019) I’ve been making sheet music, first off purely because I could never find sheet music of songs I wanted to play at the time and couldn’t play by ear. This turned into figuring out every instrument I could possibly hear, so that’s mostly what these ones are. Some at first made in GuitarPro (6), then moved to MuseScore (v2).
Note :: .1 If you’ve found ‘the descent’, ‘oil on water’, and ‘and yet…’ on the musescore site, that’s my account there. The point is I wanted to share more than 5 scores, which is their free limit.
.2 Some parts may not be quite accurate (soundwise or other) or entirely complete, this is because I’m human and have limitations.

Ralph Pelleymounter: There is a gap between writing a song and being able to release it. You have to jump through various hoops, squeeze through a variety of oddly shaped holes and dance a handful of complex dances before the song you made in your bedroom can make it all the way out into the big bad world. This time can seem endless and frustrating, as you have this big secret you want to share with everyone right now, but you can’t and other than the odd friend or stranger you might inflict an earbud on at a drunken party, when the desire becomes too much, the songs are basically yours and yours alone. Then you’ll release them and it’s the oddest thing. They don’t feel like yours anymore, they belong to anyone else who cares to have a listen and perhaps make a little room in their heart for them. As I’ve been through this process a few times now and as the days before I let this new batch of songs roam free dwindle, I’ve decided to make the most of them. I had a little walk today and listened to this album through start to finish and I’m so excited for them to belong to you. 📸 @mdchicks
