“Oh don’t mind Milah. She just worries too much.” Though he had to admit, the sooner Ruby left the easier things would be for him.But then maybe not. Milah had a way of dissecting everything he did. If it wasn’t letting a were wolf in the house it would be something else. 

And then he listened intently as she told him about his son. He’d always know Bae was special, but never in that regaurd. It made him wish that he could buy some animals to keep around the house. But they didn’t have the money for that. “I’ll try to help him nuture it,” he promised. That was after all the best he could do. 

“There is a farmer not far from here, he helps me some times, I could ask him about letting your son work on the farm, he could care fro the animals, help bring in some money for you and your wife. I will of course take him there and home. It’s a very special gift”

Grinning, Killian’s tongue darted out to wet his bottom lip, neck stretching slightly beneath her grip. “Consider me warned then, love.”

She rolled her eyes and let him go;”fine then, I’ll give you a chance to keep up with me...love” she said still standing close to him though. “However, I was under the impression you were more in to...blonds” 

“I’m not jealous.”

“Never said you were, darling. You were the one to bring up such feelings, which makes me think you just might be.”

He was rather stunned when her eyes started to glow, and he was even more stunned when he heard her voice. “How…” he asked, very startled. He’d never had a conversation with a wolf before, even if it was a werewolf. She was still in wolf form and he hadn’t known this was possible. “I mean uh… yes. Yes I can hear you. And I’m glad you are feeling better, but you don’t need to worry about leaving. You just focus on recovering, okay?”

“I can hear your wife worry, I don’t want to trouble you...so I will leave when I can” she said looking over at his son.  “Your son, he has a very special talent with animals, my instincts tell me to trust him and he calms me down when I normally might have snapped and bit...I don’t think there is a word for what he is but he really should nurture his talent”

He had gotten up in the early hours, spinning even when it was dark. he didn’t really need the light to see by as his hands were so practiced. And he couldn’t waste money on a candle or risk waking anyone else up. So he’d just been spinning when he heard movement. He turned his head and saw that their guest was drinking water. 

“Good morning Ruby,” he greeted softly the way he would if she were in human form. “Do you need anything other then water? I can get you some food, and look at your injury again if you think I should.”

Ruby looked up at him and moved over, she knew she had to give him the gift to be able to talk to him but it really wouldn’t hurt, moving up she let her her rest on his lap and looked up in to his eyes, letting her eyes glow so he would be able to hear her thoughts.  “Can you hear me? I am feeling much better, I heal fast and should be able to leave soon”

Maleficent sighed, but let Ruby slip from her grip. She took a seat as she watched Ruby unpack the food she had brought home from the diner. “I know I said the wood work in the living room didn’t need to be repainted, but I think I might paint it anyway. If it’s all white it’ll let in much more light.” She said as she crossed her legs and turned the glasses over, before pouring water into them. 

Ruby smiled and nodded;”you just can’t decide” she said kissing her cheek as she sat down and handed her a burger;”well I am sure it will turn out lovely, maybe a light gray? So you don’t get to much light in, don’t wanna hurt my eyes when I sneak in for my morning snuggles after wolves night”

Bae came back and snuggled against her, careful not to hurt the wolf. Rumpelstiltskin made sure the nest of blankets was going to work before he walked back over to his bed where Milah was already waiting. “Whose to say she isn’t going to attack the moment she’s better?” his wife asked.

“No one I suppose,” he mumbled, laying his staff on the floor and slipping under the sheets. 

“If you cared for Bae at all you’d…”

“I love Bae just as much as you,” he interrupted for the first time in a long time. “And I’m telling you he’ll be fine.”

“I just hope you’re right.” And with that they both tried to sleep, both with considerably less success then the lad sleeping on the floor. 

The next morning Ruby was very confused over why she was still in her wolf form, but her trying to move and the pain that hit her reminded her of why. The boy that held on to her fur made her relax though, he was something special...she had to remember to speak to his father about it. She had healed very well, but she needed a little bit more before she could transform back in to human form, and she didn’t even have her clothes here... She needed water, finding the bowl the man had put out, she frowned a little, now in her more awoken state she felt like a common house pet as she got up and moved to drink from it.

         Belle bit her lip nervously, a small smile tugging at the other side of her mouth at the compliment. Her dress, long and midnight blue, fell loosely at the skirt and she almost felt like she was going to a ball again. “T-thank you.” she stuttered, biting back a giggle. “As do you.”

“Why thank you” Ruby said smiling at her she was dressed in a long red dress, her hair put up in a bun.  “It’s a little silly no? All the fancy stuff?”

Bae turned back when she whined and Rumpelstiltskin realized that it wasn’t good for Ruby to be without him. Great. “Okay, get ready from bed,” he told his son as he moved toward his son’s bed. 

“But Ruby,” Bae complained. Milah was looking a bit smug, as though she was glad Ruby was going to have to spend the night without Bae. Well, she was wrong.

“I’m putting some blankets on the floor next to her so you can sleep there. So now hurry up. Don’t want to keep Ruby waiting.” Bae smiled and hurried to do as he was told while Milah scowled. 

“What on earth are you thinking? That is a wolf!” He just rolled his eyes and placed the blankets down, arranging them in a cozy next for his boy and patting Ruby gently on the head. 

“Yes and she needs all the help she can get,” he told his wife before focusing on Ruby. “It’s okay. Bae will be right back. I promise.”

Unable to speak she simply presses her nose against his hand and licks it before letting her body relax again, her breathing slowing down as she started to drift off to sleep, not completely though, she wanted to wait until Bae was back.  Once he was, she pressed her head against him, licking his face before falling asleep with him close.

“Are you trying to change my mind, love? Because you’re doing a rather poor job of it,” he hummed, swaying closer a couple steps. “I’ve no problem with a woman…overpowering me in such intimate settings.”

With one fast motion Ruby had Killian pressed tightly up against the wall behind her;”fair warning” she said simply, holding him in place with no effort what so ever;”you don’t play with a wolf Killian” 

“I’m not jealous.”

“Never said you were, darling. You were the one to bring up such feelings, which makes me think you just might be.”

Maleficent grinned and wrapped her arms around Ruby, holding her young lover close to her. She bend her head and buried her nose in Ruby’s long dark hair and inhaled deeply. The familiar scent of the wolf, calmed the old dragon. “Dinner sounds perfect,” she said as she ran her hands down over Ruby’s back, stroking her buttocks affectionately. 

Ruby groaned a little from her touches;”after dinner love...we need out fule” she said softly, kissing Mal’s neck before she pulls away from her, smirking as she opened the take away bags.

Maleficent pocketed her mobile and cast a quick glance in the mirror. She ran her hand through her hair, before she left her house. The drive across town was quiet and when she parked outside Ruby’s place, she hadn’t passed a single car on her way. She locked the car and headed up to the door, knocking it quietly. 

Ruby hurried over and opened the door, smiling at her before pulling her inside. “I have made you awesome dinner, or well I got some from the restaurant, but still I made it” she said pulling her in to a hug.

Bae patted her head, looking concerned at her lack of enery. He was too of course, but he could only hope that she’d be better by morning. He’d done all he could do, it was up to her body to fight. “Okay Bae, let’s let Ruby get some rest hmm? We can make sure she’s fine in the morning.” Not that he was planning on going to sleep or anything. He was going to stay up to watch and make sure shew as alright. But Bae did need to get to bed. And as reluctant as he seemed Bae obeyed, standing and coming over to him.

Ruby turned her head when Bae left, whining slightly as she tried to get up, wanting to follow him, he calmed her down, she wasn’t sure why but he was calming for her. But he was unable to get up, simply sliding back down again as she looked towards him, her gray fur moving as she shivered.
