Honestly, I don’t have kids of my own but my family is really traditional. What I mean by that is they want me to spend time with them aside from working and sometimes it’s difficult for me. It’s not like I’m the only one who works but I get in trouble for it anyways cause I’m still their kid. Now things I’ve learned about trying to balance out my family life vs my work life are very simple. For instance, I try and plan everything around them meaning that if I have an event I’m going to go but I will most likely bring them with me if appropriate or even something as simple as doing the groceries or going to clean my car. Another thing I find important to do is to plan out my week so that I can see where to squeeze them in which can be difficult at times because not everyone’s the same. I`ll even plan out my meals so that maybe from Monday to Thursday I eat at home and then on Friday I can go to lunch with either my Mom or sister. The most important tip I can give you is do not get overwhelmed and forget about yourself because you are a part of the family and need to take care of yourself in order to take care of your family. Examples of that are yoga, nail appointment, physiotherapy or massages. My list can go on and on but as long as you follow these tips you should be set up for success and have less stress. Travelling while working can be stressful. Every time I travel and know that I only have the week it makes me go crazy and feel like I`m unorganized. So, over the years I`ve learned that I need to wrap my head around things and stay focused. Before each trip I ensure that I maintain routine meaning that before I travel to my destination I look at the reviews and excursions that are available. For example, where’s the best breakfast or is there anything this place has to offer that I need to try. If I find it interesting I`ll book it so that when I arrive I have a game plan. If I all in love with the place I`m at ill book some extra days in order to keep the magic alive and I recommend if you can do that to give it a shot because you will not forget it. Now for people who need to communicate with their job while on vacation the best thing to do is maintain an appropriate time on the phone and off the phone meaning that enjoy the moment while you can. Do not try and multitask because you really won’t get to feel relaxed or enjoy the time you have to yourself on your vacation. Finally, to end of this post the most important thing to do on vacation is to bring your family. No matter how bad you want to leave them, they are the ones that will make this an enjoyable and memorable time for you. More than half of people who leave their jobs do so because of their relationship with their boss. Smart companies make certain their managers know how to balance being professional with being human. These are the bosses who celebrate an employee's success, empathize with those going through hard times, and challenge people, even when it hurts.

Friend: Hey let’s hang out on the weekend Me: Sorry I am working How often do you have that conversation with your friends? Family? For me, it is every single week, I feel that I can never make any time for my friends or family which is devastating because I feel like I never get to see any of them and that I am living in my own world. It is important that you maintain these relationships because without socialization, you will change drastically. Because I work on the weekends, my only time to socialize is during the week. It is not necessary that you need to spend 4-5 hours with someone, a few mins of quality interaction are always more than enough if you have busy schedule. Some ways to work around work and socialization is that when you have a day off, go out with someone. I know that on your day off you may have to run errands, study, chores, etc. but what is better than doing with a little bit of company? If you’re going out to run an errand, pick up a friend or take a family member with you, that way you can catch up and socialize and complete your task. Another simple way to keep in touch is call them! We live in a world that is advancing in technology every day, so why not pick up your phone while you have some spare time (breaks, walking to the car, doings chores, or even driving). Even sending a quick text message or email will ensure that you stay in touch with the important people in your life. Most importantly, don’t forget your family, make sure that at least once a month you go out with all of them for a meal or just even a walk in a park! All that pressure and stress from work always tends to be forgotten about when you are with family or friends Take a look at this link: https://trans4mind.com/counterpoint/index-goals-life-coaching/mignott.shtml

You don’t realize that your health is deteriorating until you hit rock bottom and trust me that is not a good feeling. Nowadays the world has become so materialistic that we are forgetting to take care of ourselves. We prioritize work, school, family, and social life more than ourselves, and take on more than we can which results in our health going downhill. I was recently put on anxiety meds a few months ago because I started getting anxiety attacks. When I moved away for school, I was working over time because I had rent to pay for, and I had no time to even relax. After two months when I went home for reading week, I was hit with a massive anxiety attack which lasted a week, which resulted in my being hospitalized for a few days. I overwhelmed myself with working overtime because I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to pay my rent that I forgot to stop and take a minute to breathe. That was the biggest mistake I ever made. This all deteriorated my mental health to a whole new level and caused excessive stress in my life. My point is, take time out for yourself, find some time in your day to not be caught up in work, school work, or even chores. Some ways to ensure deteroating yourself are as follows: 1. Always take a break at work --> working can be very overwhelming and it is important you take 15-20 minutes to just relax yourself and slow your body down 2. Meditate --> this may sound cringy but even if you take one day out of the week to just give your body a break and calm yourself down, you will see improvements 3. Know your limits --> we all having our breaking points, avoid pushing yourself to your breaking limits because that will only result in poor work and lack of control 4. Sleep --> I am sure this is our favourite thing to do, so why don’t we do it more often? Too much work and not enough time? Don’t take that time away from your sleep, those 7-8 hours of sleep are crucial hours as they are the only hours your body fully gets to rest and restart.

I have been a full time student AND have had a part time job since I was in grade 10, but I still struggle to balance the two and still feel constantly overwhelmed. Let’s face it, one of the worst combinations is school stress AND work stress combined. We have all been there, when we go to school full time and are expected to stay on top of everything, while having part time jobs either before or after school, or even worse, on the weekends. So how are you supposed to juggle both without overwhelming yourself? 1. Don’t work more than 10-18 hours per week: I know when the manager asks you to work extra days or cover a shift, it is hard to say no! Don’t let that get in your way, avoid working more than 15 hours as it will become overwhelming and hard to manage other things. Work enough to cover basic finances. I tend to not work during the week and instead I take on weekend shifts mainly because I like to dedicate my week to school and not get distracted in between. Weekends work better because stores close early which means I can spend the evening completing school work or any other personal things and weekend shifts are a full 6-8 hours shift which is good pay for two days. 2. Don’t spend on extra things: I don’t blame you if you go to the mall and cannot resist buying whatever you see, if you have money, then might as well spend it right? Wrong. If you are in school and suffering in deb, avoid big shopping sprees or wasting money on unnecessary items. Cutting your extra spending will reduce your work hours as you will not constantly feel “broke” and pressured to work. Save your money and use it wisely! 3. Manage your time: If you are working during the week, look for online classes from your school this clears your schedule and gives you time to work and then study at a time more convenient for yourself! I like to make a monthly calendar so I can ahead of time and start my assignments prior to due date so I am not cramming everything in last minute. Most important, take your books to work, during your break try to finish wokr so you have less to do at home Overall, I feel that as a full time student, my education is the most important thing to focus on. Feeling overwhelmed? Take a day off work, book a weekend off and just relax and take some time to yourself. It is okay to sometimes take a day to yourself Take a look at this article for more tips! https://abound.college/finishcollege/advice/7-tips-to-help-you-balance-school-and-work/

Balancing work and fitness are a big thing for me. In order for me to feel like I`ve taken care of myself mentally and physically I need to exercise 3 times a week. So, you’re probably thinking like how does she do it? Discipline is a huge part. If you don’t tell yourself that you are important and taking care of yourself is number one than you will not succeed. Working out not only makes you fit but helps you focus, gives you energy and can be a stress reliver. You don’t need a gym to work out here plenty of alternatives like working out at home, taking walks whether they’re inside the office or outside.
So, some things that I`ve learned over the years are that you can’t just jump into working out without doing some research. An example is when I first started working out I went to go get a blood test done to see if I was missing any vitamins or nutrients so that I can balance them to get the best results but one thing I learned was that vitamin D was the most important out of them and an article by Forbes quotes that “From a fitness point of view, vitamin D is the best legal performance enhancer you can get, and arguably outperforms many of the illegal ones.”(Wishart 2012).
Another thing to look at is the products you have available whether its protein, pre-workout or post work out supplements those are great in helping you with maintaining energy on a busy work day or a session full of cardio. If you don’t know of any workouts you can find many of them that range from simple to intense just by searching different media outlets like YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
