“I swear Bobby, if you drop lasagna one more time. I’m siccing Erika on you. I don’t need this while we hire a new Janitor. That’s like twice this week alone. How many times do you eat lasagna!” He threw his arms up in exasperation and sighed as someone else walked in. “What’s up? quinn walked over to the break room and noticed bobby getting scolded. shaking her head at julian she waited for the man to finish or at least until she was acknowledged that she was there. “hey leave bobby alone, bobby you go ahead and eat that lasagna, don’t listen to julian, he’s just a grumpy old man worried about his precious carpet becoming a mess. you do you boo boo.” she told the other man and laughed softly, “leave him alone, let him live his best life.”

“I just couldn’t decide, so I had to put out a bunch of different candies this time. I think I like it, all the shiny little dishes make the top of my desk look so pretty! Here we have… jelly beans, and M&Ms, then of course skittles and bubble gum beads and caramels, because we know Quinn loves them.” Waving a hand across the array of little plastic iridescent bowls that held her available choices, Penny took the opportunity to pluck an M&M out of it’s bowl and pop it into her mouth. “Are you coming to poor Richard’s for Karaoke tonight?”

quinn leaned against the reception desk over looking at her best friend who sat behind the desk. “i was about to say if there aren’t any caramels i was about to be very sad.” with that, she smiled and reached over and took one of the caramel candies and opened the wrapper before popping it into her mouth. “you should just put, ‘quinn’s caramels only’ so no one takes any of these.” she giggles and took a few more and put them into her pocket. “who am i to miss out on karaoke night, it’s like you don’t know me at all.”

“That’s the worst! And obviously, the dog has no way to communicate besides barking so you just wanna march over there and tell their owner to take care of their animal. Honestly, in cases like that, kidnapping pets should be legal.” Lilah winced in sympathy at Quinn’s story. “Is it just me or have our customers been extra annoying lately? It’s like they all woke up and decided together to be the embodiment of our worst nightmare. Well, lucky for you, I can at least fix one of those problems.” Lilah flashed her a warm smile before getting up from her seat, returning a few moments later with a coffee mug filled to the brim for Quinn.

a soft sigh left her lips as she ran her fingers through her hair. quinn wasn’t having the best morning not to mention she heard riley was back from training. right now she was doing her best to ignore that and just do her best to get through the day. looking up at lilah, she sighed once more and shakes her head, “it was so annoying i was lucky to even get myself out of bed after all that.” leaning back against her chair she looked to lilah again, “honestly right it’s like they woke up and chose violence today.” she responded with a shake of her head. watching lilah disappear to the back then return seconds later, quinn gives her a small smile, “what would i do without you?”

“you know what’s annoying? being woken up two hours before your alarm because your neighbors dogs decide to start barking super loud for no reason and at nothing. thankfully rocket doesn’t bark along with those dogs otherwise i would have been extra annoyed this morning. i haven’t even had my morning coffee yet and i already had a customer yell at me because he felt the need to educate me in what kind of paper is better. can you tell i’m have a great day so far?” || @dunderstartsers​

Because I will forget if you don’t remind me,” She laughed lightly and then happily stepped closer to Quinn. “It was good,” She nodded her head, “We talked about baby stuff, so that was cool. She was already feeling a lot better by the time I got off work and got to her place, so that’s good.. I think Skyler probably helped cheer her up. He seems like the only one who can really do that nowadays,” She forced out a small laugh and then shrugged, looking down at their fingers entangled together. “It’s so weird, picturing Penny as a mom. She’s gonna have a baby in a few months. Like an actual human baby.” She let out a huff through her nose and shook her head. “That feels so insane.”

when told to remind riley not to forget to order pizza, quinn smiled and chuckled softly, “okay i’ll remind you. maybe we can order it in an hour or so.” she suggested and kept the smile on her expression. as riley told her about her day, quinn nodded her head and listened, “aw that sounds like fun, i’m glad you were there for her and i’m glad she was feeling better. i feel like i haven’t seen penny outside of work since the barbecue, i’ll have to message you.” she tells her and smiles listening to her words, “i know, it’s pretty insane that she’s going to be a mom soon and skyler a father wow.. who would have thought.” she shook her head and gave a small smile. there was a question quinn wanted to ask riley, but felt it wasn’t the right time to ask, “but i’m sure the baby is going to be super cute of course. did she tell you if she knows what she’s having?” quinn was curious as to if penny would have a girl or a boy or if it was too early to even tell. “but aside from that, are you ready for an amazing night with me?”

   Riley felt butterflies in her stomach when she heard the knock at the door. Her dog Daisy lifted her head up, and let out a soft bark, but Riley shook her head. “No barking, Daisy.” She told her before heading towards the door. 

   She opened it, greeting Quinn with a wide smile. “Hii,” She leaned in and kissed Quinn on the lips before stepping aside and inviting her in with a gesture of her arm. Once she was inside, she closed the door behind her. “I got a lot of snacks,” She said, heading towards her living room and gesturing towards where she had different snacks laid out on her coffee table. “We can order a pizza or something, too, for like actual food. But I like snacks,” She chuckled.

a small appears on her lips as she waits for riley to answer the door. a soft giggle leaves her throat just hearing the dog barking on the other end. as she waited, she looked down but soon looked up as soon as she heard footsteps behind the door. 

as the door opened, she smiled and greeted riley. “hi.” she responded and happily returned the kiss to her girlfriend. she took her shoes off and placed her things on the couch as she walked more into riley’s apartment. “oh good, i brought some snacks myself just in case.” she giggled softly and followed her over to the living room. “i’m down for anything to be honest, pizza, snacks all of it sounds amazing.” she smiled and took riley by her hand to pull her close to her, “how was time spent with penny?” she asked and laced their fingers together.

   Riley was happy that her and Quinn had made up. She was hoping they would be able to put the whole issue behind them and move forward. Of course she wasn’t really thrilled that their first fight had been in public at a company event, but it could’ve been worse, so she was just thankful that they were fine. She was also incredibly excited that Quinn was coming over. She’d gotten snacks and everything prepared and ready, and had found that time was passing even slower once she was off work.

   She was seated on her couch, scrolling through TikTok on her phone, checking the clock every few minutes and waiting anxiously for Quinn’s arrival.

aside from everything that happened at the barbecue, quinn was happy that she and riley were able to fix things. well not only fix things, but make their relationship official. it made quinn super happy knowing she was able to finally call riley hers. the two had planned to have a sleepover at riley’s place, with movies and cuddles and lots and lots of snacks. quinn packed an overnight bag with a few clothes and things she needed to bring with her to riley’s. getting into her car, she heads out to the other’s place already having memorized the directions there. 

getting out of the car after she parked, she grabbed her bag and walked up to the front door knocking a few times and waited for her to answer.

   Riley snuggled in against Quinn a bit more, “You know I wasn’t lying when I said there’s no way I wouldn’t love whatever you prepared, right? Like I wasn’t just saying that to be nice.. I mean this is absolutely incredible and you went like above and beyond. And I’m not gonna be able to shut up about how magical this whole setup feels,” She giggled quietly, “But I would’ve loved anything you did for me. I will always love anything that you do for me,” She turned her head to look at Quinn and smiled warmly at her before turning back to the laptop. “Okay, I’m done being cheesy, and I’m done talking your ear off. I’ll shut up so we can watch the movie now.” She giggled again, letting her head rest on Quinn’s shoulder again. Riley reached over and took Quinn’s hand in hers, intertwining their fingers together and resting them in her lap as she settled in.

it was nice feeling riley snuggle close to her and just being beside her felt nice. looking down at her, she listens to her and smiles. a soft giggle leaves her lips while she continues to listen to riley. “you know it’s always reassuring hearing that you like it though. just makes me feel good and giddy.” she giggled again and bit down on her lower lip as their eyes met when riley turned to look at her. “you’re so cute, you know that?” quinn also turns her head towards the laptop as she clicks the play button. “it’s okay i don’t mind listening to you talk, i like hearing your voice.” she admits shyly and smiles as she smiles when riley laces their fingers together. a soft hum leaves her lips as she cuddles closer to her as the movie plays and makes sure to keep the snacks close to them.

   “You did,” Riley nodded in agreement, picking another one out of the box after she’d finished the one she’d been eating. “You really knocked it out of the park with every single part of this.” She set the box of strawberries next to the other snacks. Riley cuddled in next to Quinn and got comfortable. “Mhm!” She said through a bite of strawberry, keeping her mouth closed. Leaning her head against Quinn’s shoulder, she spoke again once her mouth wasn’t full, “You’ve seen this movie before, right?” She tilted her head so she could look at Quinn, “I remember watching it like a thousand times when I was younger.” Riley chuckled, “I wanted to be just like Elle Woods when I grew up.”

a part of quinn was hoping it wasn’t too much with what she had prepared for them. since it was their first date after all, all she wanted was for things to go really well and for riley to enjoy herself. “oh good i’m glad i did, i was hoping you’d like it.” she added and smiled reaching over for a few snacks and took another bite of a strawberry loving how sweet the strawberry was. feeling her cuddle close, quinn smiled and leaned her head on top of hers while her arm comes to wrap around riley’s. “oh of course i have, it was one of my favorite’s growing up.” she smiled and giggled kissing her forehead softly, “that’s so cute, baby.” it was rather cute and she loved that. reaching over, she pulled the blanket over them and pulled the laptop close so they both could see.
