I'm home now so I'm gonna curl up with some blankets and really consider making robyn. the happy huntresses deserve more love tbh. I'm also sort of considering making an emerald, but if I do I might start with a sideblog somewhere. two new muses at once is A Lot, but I do think I need something New to jumpstart rwby muse again. part of me is also anxious about stepping on toes, but I do know that most of that is just anxiety.

I have projects to work on tomorrow, but we're getting some storms tonight and tomorrow too, so making a blog or two will probably be a good distraction.

Nobody gave Emerald a second gland- most didn't even give her a first glance. Here among the sandy twists and turns of Shade, packed with refugees close to bursting, she was more alone than she'd been in a long time. Even with Cinder-

Her fingers tightened around the pouch in her hands. It hardly weighed anything, and part of her, however irrational, worried it would fade away if she took her attention off it for even a second.

She sat on the edge of the roof and looked out over the desert. Stars stared coldly down at her, and sand stretched as far as she could see. Mercury was out there, somewhere. Even with Cinder, when Emerald had been scrabbling for mere scraps of the woman's attention, Mercury had been there. He wasn't nice, but nothing nice had ever survived in their lives.

A hot breeze picked up, and Emerald opened her pouch and poured the contents over the edge of the roof. The ashes caught in the air and swirled with the sand, and Emerald sat with her legs dangling over the roof until all the ashes had disappeared and the dry Vacuo air stung her eyes.

"I'll find him," she promised.

Robyn shrugged and gave her interviewer an easy smile, but hidden on the other side of her body, a finger tapped against the inside of her palm. One, two, breathe in; one, two, breath out. It wasn't a battleground she was used to, but she had never backed down from a fight before. The news was just one more arena she had to survive.

For Mantle.

"It wasn't a matter of hating Atlas. It was a matter of loving Mantle." She lifted a hand and gestured to the tired, dust-stained streets behind her. "And here I am, becoming a politician so I can bring Mantle's voice to the forefront. We're tired, but together, we are strong. Our voice deserves to be heard."

Anything for Mantle.

but they have two very different reactions. whereas Ironwood becomes overcontrolling and basically becomes a dictator, focusing on the end goal of "protecting atlas" while stepping all over those he's supposedly protecting, raven runs. she throws up her hands, because she thinks she can't stop any harm coming to them so she won't even try, and she can't bear to watch it.

Ironwood doubled down on his reaction, he didn't confront his fear- and he failed. and that makes me wonder about raven and if her fear and the war she ran from will catch up to her. I know spring maiden yang is a Thing, but I honestly am kinda meh on any of the main four becoming a maiden. But, I do think it would be really neat to have to see Raven make her choice again: to run and leave behind her family (again), or to face her fear and fight for her family and those she cares about.

you can argue her at the end of v5 was doubling down, but I want to see her have to make that choice- I would love to see her consciously choose. maybe realize that, by giving into her fear, she is losing her family as much as if she was watching them die. she obviously still cares about them, and I would love an exploration of that vs. her choice to leave.
