Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust is a public charitable trust found by POCO Builders Limited in 2006. The trust runs CSR activities that include providing healthcare facilities, education, vocational training for the needy.
CASE AT HAND
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, introduced regulations to set out the civil aviation requirements for the operation of civil remotely piloted aircraft systems, known as drones. The Union Minister for Civil Aviation's clearance for flying drones has got the real estate industry excited. Using drone will help increase efficiency and produce quality results in real estate marketing.
Drones will provide aerial footage, high-quality visuals of the site and timely updates and make better informed decisions. Beyond the marketing point of view, drones can take care of quality control and inspection jobs in construction projects. As customers rarely get a sense of what kind of view they will enjoy from their future homes, drone images become a very useful tool in completing the entire customer experience.
Capitalizing on this opportunity provided by the government, POCO Builders implemented the usage of drones for the construction of its biggest commercial project, The Royal Trail. It was the most looked up to residential complex being built in the city of Bengaluru.
The Builders used the IoT format of implementation in order to use drones for repairs and maintenance purposes, in the future. As a result of this, the tenants had to sign an agreement which stated that drones will hover around the premises to identify and highlight the RRPs
(Repair Requirement Points). With the knowledge of this agreement, the tenants did not mind drones roaming around at odd hours.
The Tenant Agreement also contained the date of payment of rents, which was at the end of every month. On 21st September, 2019, POCO Builders inaugurated The Royal Trail and the first batch of tenants came in on 1st August, 2018.
On 29thOctober , 2019, the builders inflated the price of rent by five folds as they threatened to leak accumulated private information of tenants that was collected during the RRP collection process and demanded for higher rent so as to prevent the information leakage.
As a response, the tenants took a major step by going on aggressive strikes and protests. This created speculation and disruption of POCO’s goodwill and reputation. The business started enduring losses, tenants from its other establishments also felt unsafe and employees began quitting their jobs as they felt they were working for an unethical company that is witnessing a downfall in its value proposition.
 TASK IN HAND
You are the CHRO of POCO Builders Ltd. and you are required to:
•   Create a Comprehensive Plan to rebuild the company’s lost goodwill and reputation.
•   Come up with Employee Turnover Prevention Strategies.
•   Come up with strategies to guarantee privacy, security and ethical usage of drones in the future.
•   Develop an Immediate Action Plan to control the growing strikes by the tenants.
•   Draft strategies to regain customer trust and tenant support.
 DELIVERABLES
•       Come up with a PPT of not more than 10 slides

Enrica Lexie
Tumblr media
Italy is the 8th largest export economy in the world and the 13th most complex economy according to the Economic Complexity Index (ECI). In 2016, Italy exported $455B and imported $401B, resulting in a positive trade balance of $54.3B. In 2016 the GDP of Italy was $1.85T and its GDP per capita was $38.2k. Italy, being a non-OPEC member and due to its geographical location, has harbours and canals through which exporting oil is a difficult task because they are too small to accommodate the larger Suezmax or the larger still very large crude carriers and ultra-large crude carriers. Hence, it majorly depends on Aframax ships for the movement of crude oil. These vessels are of great assistance as they serve regions that do not have very large ports or offshore oil terminals to accommodate very large crude carriers and ultra-large crude carriers.
Enrica Lexie (called Olympic Sky since 2013) is an Italian Aframax oil-tanker. The Enrica Lexie was built in 2008. She was originally owned by Naples-based Dolphin Tankers whose parent company is Fratelli D’Amato. In 2012, the ship was involved in the shooting of two Indian fisherman in the Laccadive Sea.
Time line of events:
Feb 15, 2012: Two fishermen, Jelestine and Ajeesh Pinku, who had left for fishing in a mechanized boat from the Neendakara Fishing Harbor were shot dead in the seas off Ambalapuzha. The incident is reported to have taken place in international waters. The ship from which the fishermen were fired upon was identified as the Enrica Lexie. The Lexie claims it thought the fishermen were pirates.
Feb 16, 2012: The Indian Navy lashes out at the Italian oil tanker, Enrica Lexie, for flouting the laid-down counter-piracy measures, which resulted in the ships armed guards, who are Italian military personnel, gunning down two Indian fishermen. Italian Consul General in India, GiamPaolo Cutillo reaches Kochi, meets the Coast Guard and Kerala police.
Feb 17, 2012: Italian oil tanker Enrica Lexie is brought to Kochi and police and Coast Guard personnel question the crew.
Feb 18, 2012: External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna has a telephonic conversation with and his Italian counterpart Giulio Terzi di Sant’ Agata. India wants the captain of Enrica Lexia and the two marksmen who shot the fishermen to surrender to Kerala Police. Italy wants the three to be permitted to leave in return for a joint investigation into the incident. Talks fail.
Feb 19, 2012: Kerala police arrest the two Marines (Latorre Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone) suspected to have fired the shots. Captain of the tanker Umberto Vitelli is also questioned.
Feb 20, 2012: Latorre Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone are remanded in judicial custody for 14 days (till March 5, 2012). Italy says the Marines have immunity from the Indian law as the tanker was flying an Italian flag in international waters, sailing from Singapore to Egypt, when the shooting occurred.
Feb 21, 2012: Rome decides to send junior Foreign Minister Staffan De Mistura to India.
Feb 22, 2012: Italy moves the Kerala High Court, seeking to quash the first information report (FIR) registered against two of its naval personnel. The petition argues that under the principles of international law and conventions, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (which India has ratified) Indian courts have no jurisdiction to register a crime in connection with the incident.
Feb 23, 2012: Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Staffan de Mistura visits Kochi, meets the Marines who are held at a CISF guest house. Italy launches a parallel investigation of the incident by its agencies back home.

The loss of Enrica Lexie was huge to the Italian Republic as it was Italy’s one of the best ships. The government is looking to bring it back after all these years, from Marshall Islands. But, it requires a revamp plan for the same. Alongside, Italy needs to tackle the allegations that are being fired on it and improve its international relations. Further, Italy completely sympathises with its marines and feels crestfallen for their current situation and is looking for alternatives to temporarily stabilise their lives, until the final judicial verdict comes out.
Task at hand
Hence, officials from the Italian Republic have approached Thrive Inc. for its crisis management consultancy services. Your task as the Human Resources officer of Catenator Inc. is to:
Create a phase-wise revamp plan to bring back and re-introduce Enrica Lexie.
Create a recruitment drive to hire necessary personnel once the ship begins its operations.
Create an organisational structure to define the roles and responsibilities of the new ship personnel.
Create a compensation structure for the new ship crew, keeping in mind the salary and labour laws of the Italian Republic.
Create a code of conduct for the new ship crew members.
Introduce a new and appropriate performance appraisal system for the ship crew members.
Draft a temporary life-style stabilisation programme for the two Marines.
Establish a fast track investigation unit which will investigate in the matter and assist in reaching a conclusion, quickly. Define the roles and responsibilities of the unit, clearly.

Planet K proudly has the world’s first ever, player centric, live action role playing (LARP) theme park. Macao is first to the table with this innovative and immersive family entertainment concept. Within its massive 100,000 square feet facility, Planet K is exquisitely designed to house eight distinct gaming zones containing more than 200 whimsical games.
Rivaling traditional theme parks, Planet K is destined to become one of the most interactive entertainment experiences within Asia and abroad.
Case in Hand
Due to the very high minimum wage rate in Macau, Planet K found an easy way out by smuggling people from Indonesia. These workers have been forced to work under poor conditions, without proper facilities provided to them, nor are they fairly paid to work in the park. These workers have no option but to work for you, as they do not have the necessities to get back to their country as Planet K has withheld all their documents.
Over the years, various questions have been raised regarding the carelessness of the employees regarding the maintenance of the rides, quality of food and misbehaviour with the visitors. And yet, the management has not taken any action.
On 20th November, 2019 one of the visitors was found dead in the locker room, on further investigation of this case it was found that the woman was brutally assaulted and murdered. The CCTV footage showed only the workers were present in the premises after closing hours. When this news was brought to public notice, a large number of anonymous complains with regards to harassment by the employees was brought up.
Currently, the investigation is still in process, many of your employees are in custody, there are various cases against Planet K, there are also cases filed against the HR manager for smuggling of the employees.
Task in Hand
You're the HR manager of Planet K and you are responsible for the following:
• Justify your actions to the authorities.
• Decide the future course of action for the employees you've smuggled from Indonesia, prepare a compensation plan if any.
• Compensation for all the victims

THE SPACE RACE!
Tumblr media
Space Race 1957, we are on the brink of another war, the USA and the Soviet Union is competing to become the biggest superpower. There is a state of geopolitical tension between the two countries. The USA has its allies known as the western bloc and the soviet union has its satellite nations which are called the eastern bloc, both have conflicting ideologies.. With the western bloc being capitalist and the eastern bloc being communist, these ideologies don’t just affect our political systems they have an effect on every aspect of our economy, businesses, and lifestyle. The war is a diplomatic war, after the devastating effects of the two world wars another armed fight between nations could lead to the end of civilisation as we know it.
The cold war until now was fought with quiet diplomacy and strategic partnerships. It was for territory, weapons and resources. Each nation was trying to build these resources so that they could be the supreme power. All that has changed, the US has just announced its intent to launch its first artificial satellite, the race for dominance in the spaceflight sphere has now started between the two nations. The technological superiority required for such dominance was seen as necessary for national security, and symbolic of ideological superiority. The Space Race spawned pioneering efforts to launch artificial satellites, uncrewed space probes of the Moon, Venus, and Mars and human spaceflight in low Earth orbit and to the Moon.

THE BUBBLE
The fight against Section 377 in India began years ago, and on September 2018, in an unanimous verdict, the Supreme Court decided to decriminalized all consensual sexual behaviour. While the verdict gave many a hope to fight for justice and equality, it is still a small step in a fight that is way bigger in the society. In India, many till date do not even have a say in choosing a partner of a different cast let alone homosexuality. Many have come forward about their sexuality after the repel of Section 377 but the social stigma about LGBT has not changed. Even after the Supreme Court judgment, the mind set of many including the corporate sector has not changed. Many company officials/employees are not comfortable to  work with people with other sexual representations - which also is an unsaid policy of many companies. This makes it harder for the LGBT community to be open or to get recruited. Strategic Media Services began its operations in the year 2007 in Gujarat. In a nutshell, they provide corporate communication services for their clients by regularly collaborating with the media for inspiring stories and grooming youngsters to learn the art of communication in a right, apt and an honourable manner. They have also been investing a lot of time and effort in training motivated youngsters about the nuances of Public Relations. The company teaches them the art of developing strategies to help brands to evolve into more powerful corporate entities, have better image and communicate the correct messages to their key stakeholders from time to time. The workforce consisting mainly of youngsters, forces the top level management to be open minded.
CASE IN HAND: Strategic Media Services now aims to recruit people of the LGBT community in order to start a new wave of acceptance of them into the workplace. Being a media agency, the company wants to set an example for many others.
TASK AT HAND: As the Human Resource Manager of Strategic Media Services: ď‚· Come up with recruitment strategies for the LGBT community. ď‚· Devise change management strategies which help the LGBT community fit in better with the workforce. Also curate non-monetary incentives for these new recruits.
DELIVERABLES: ď‚· PPT of not more than 8 slides

The Bhangarh's Curse
Tumblr media
The Bhangarh Fort is a 17th-century fort built in the Rajasthan state of India. It was built by Bhagwant Das for his younger son Madho Singh.
The Bhangarh Fort is located on the border of the Sariska Reserve in the Aravali range of hills in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The nearest village is Gola ka Baas. The fort is situated at the foot of the hills on sloping terrain. The ruins of the King's palace are located on the lower slope of the hills; trees surround the pond area and a natural stream falls into the pond within the premises of the palace.
Most people are of the belief that Bhangarh Fort is haunted and there is no dearth of tales that help in amplifying the mystery that is Bhangarh. Venturing into the fort after sunset is nothing short of an act of bravery as it is supposed to be a centre for paranormal activity and the Archaeological Survey of India therefore has prohibited people from visiting the Bhangarh Fort at night.
Of the many Bhangarh stories that the locals like to indulge in, the most popular is that of Emperor Madho Singh who built the city after attaining the approval of Guru Balu Nath, an ascetic who used to meditate there. The saint gave his approval on the condition that the shadow of the Emperor’s palace should never fall on his retreat.
If in case it did, the city would crumble into ruins. Once the construction was completed, the retreat of Guru Balu was unfortunately shadowed by the palace. Having incurred the saint’s wrath, Bhangarh immediately transformed into a cursed city and could never be rebuilt as no structures ever managed to survive in it. It is interesting to note that the tomb of Guru Balu Nath can still be found among the ruins.
Nothing stops the villagers from believing that it is a sanctuary for ghosts. People have supposedly often heard noises that are unaccounted for. The locals claim to have heard women screaming and crying, bangles breaking and strange music emerging from the fort. There have been instances where a special perfume was emanating from the Bhangarh Fort along with ghostly shadows and inexplicable lights. Some people have felt the strange sensation of being followed and even slapped by an invisible entity. It is believed that if a person enters the fort after sunset, he/she will never ever come out of it. The doors are therefore always locked after dusk and entry into the Bhangarh Fort at night is absolutely forbidden.
CASE IN HAND
The Archaeological Survey of India has strong reasons to believe of the presence of precious metals and minerals in the fort premises which might count up to thousands of tonnes. For the same, it has decided to initiate a full excavation program in and around the fort premises to find these minerals and materials. But the beliefs of paranormal activity, keeps everyone miles away from indulging in any activity involving the fort.
TASK IN HAND
As the Chief Excavation Officer of the project, keeping in the horrors about the fort believed by the society you are responsible for the following:
• Recruitment and selection strategies for all the workers needed for the project.
• Strategies to be included to convince the workers regarding the various myths and safety concerns.
• Training Program for the workers.
• Contingency Plan

NOT O.K. GOOGLE
Tumblr media
“Google is famous for its culture, but in reality, we’re not even meeting the basics of respect, justice and fairness for every single person here,”
An investigation stated that one of Google’s top executives, Android founder Andy Rubin, received a “ hero’s Farewell” , when he left the company in 2014. Google did not disclose that Rubin had been accused of sexual misconduct at the time—the real reason, according to the investigation, that Google’s then-CEO Larry Page asked for Rubin’s resignation. Google paid Rubin a $90 million exit package, paid in instalments of about $2 million a month for four years, according to the article.
The repercussion that Google had to face is inexplicable. More than 20,000 Google employees and contractors participated in the mass global walkout to protest the company’s handling of sexual harassment allegations against top executives. The walkouts capped a turbulent week for Google. After the article was published, the company revealed that it had fired 48 people for sexual harassment over the last two years and that none had received an exit package. Sundar Pichai, Google’s chief executive, and Larry Page, a co-founder of Google and the chief executive of its parent company, Alphabet, apologized. And one of the executives whom Alphabet continued employing after he was accused of harassment resigned, with no exit package.
But employees’ discontent continued to simmer. The employees threaten to go on a strike and boycott operations of the company, if not provided with reasons for such partiality.
TASK AT HAND:
As the CHRO of Google, justify to the employees,
Why such a package was provided to Andy Rubin alone.
Make peace with the agitated employees.
List policies that you will undertake to maintain transparency within the organisation.
