Do you think back in 2014 they were exclusively dating after they reconnected? Or just hooking up when they got the chance to? There was also some pictures of Harry pumpkin picking with some girl in October i think. Then also in October Taylor and mh supposedly met for the first time. Then in November haylor seemed to be good again. Wonder what was actually going on

It's something only they could answer, considering we are going on song lyrics and interviews. The 2014 Timeline has more detail.

Everything seems happy till September when 1989 promo ramped up, which was Tree's first album roll out with Taylor. Harry was all heart kisses and giving thumbs up to fans with Haylor signs. Then they both travel from London to NY and disappear for a week starting 9 September. It's thought that was when Harry heard 1989 complete, as he followed Jack in that time.

Taylors Rolling Stone interview drops where the interviewer says she sounded jaded about love. Then on 11 September another RS piece includes this quote from her:

now I go in thinking, ‘How long do we have on the clock — before something comes along and puts a wrench in it, or your publicist calls and says this isn’t a good idea?'”

Harry has an Asthma (or panic..) attack on stage on the next show and writes Fools Gold the next day on 14 September. Which is about his love not prioritising their love, which was probably fair with RS, focused on releasing 1989 and soon some new faces with them both.

They then both performed at the iHeartRadio Festival, Harry was heart kissing in little things, Taylor pointing in Love Story. Then Harry's IG went Black and White, with a photo of Woodstock Festival in sepia as the last 'colour' photo for 2 years 2016, save for a few when they were in the same place.

This is where the pumpkin shopping with Erin Forster comes in on October 8. If I was inclined to believe this was PR I'd note they are dressed in matching fall colours, she is 12 years older and known to date famous people, and they were not seen together agin for a year. E News reported:

It's unlikely it will ever become serious, but they are casually dating whenever they are in the same place at the same time and it works for both of them. Meanwhile, their outing was PDA-free and didn't seem to hint that any sort of romance was brewing.”

Meanwhile Taylor performed a heart-wrenching Rip Tide on BBC Live Lounge 2 days later, with the lines "I love you when you're singing that song / And I got a lump in my throat / 'Cause you're gonna sing the words wrong"

The 1989 roll out continued with more emo comments from Taylor. But they also kept being in the same place including Leaving the Victoria Secret Afterparty 5 mins apart after dancing, the first time Style was performed. The high point in the end of the year was them giving heart eyes at the AMAs which looks resoundingly not done:

Then they went to the 1975 concert, but she gave the 'That person who might interrupt your wedding' after that. So it seemed not at all over, neither seemed that into the people they were seen with, and very into each other. They did finally break up before the OTRA tour in January 2015. My thoughts are that the release of 1989 brought a microscope on them that they did not want for whatever reason. The interesting thing is they also were seeming friendly in 2023 until a similar time before 1989 TV then haven't since.

I was watching Taylor's glamour photoshoot video from 2014 for their February edition. And I noticed that she used the phrase "never go out of style". The video was posted on 4th feb so thr photoshoot must have taken place few days prior at least, maybe end of January. Do you think she already had few lyrics in mind that became Style later after they got back together. I mean they were probably on and off in 2013 too so thr concept of the song still stands so she might have thought of that. She could have come up with it after he came by the studio when she was working with Ryan on IKP. If she had written the lyrics for Style after that encounter, writing Clean after that wouldn't make much sense unless Style isn't about getting back together or maybe they got back together then it didn't work again. But this doesn't make sense...so I'm thinking she might have had that line in her mind but not the whole song. It's a common phrase in regards to fashion i guess but still she does and says everything for a reason. So I'm kinda confused. If she wrote Style in late January then recorded it in Feb why would she write Clean in between that. I'm overthinking ughhhh

We know the dates of clean, shake it off and style because they are in the original 1989 booklet. A lot of Taylor’s collaborators and herself talk about her having voice notes that eventually become songs, they aren’t generally all written and recorded in one day reflecting that feeling of the moment. Except unless she left Style was an undeniable banger (which I mean it is) she wouldn’t have still recorded it if she hated Harry at that point.

(Also clean has a photo that date too, but I love this Grammy kettle photo, it reminds me of Taylor vogue 70 questions interview)

- Harry and Kendall broke up some time around Jan 6-18, I think because he didn’t want to be in KUWTK

- 5 February - Taylor says she likens relationships to fashion, the same concept she later said about Style, so it was permeating, maybe a voice note

- 9 February - Taylor writes clean with Imogen, they had also already worked on say don’t go, Taylor probably came with several ideas they could work on.

- 11 February - Harry seen backstage at Red in London

- 14 February - Taylor posts “nothing like real love” Shirley temple quote to mark Shirley’s passing. Styles MV is released a year later.

- 15 February shake it off written

- 19 February - style written in LA, Harry left a Brit’s after party early with his mum and then flies to LA the next day, before the me rest of the band

- 22 February - lover journal

- 3 March - at same vanity fair party

- 4 March - Harry wrote I love you performed by Alex and sierra who posts Taylor’s cats

I’m sorry, this is the ramblings of a Haylor fan. If you disagree you’re entitled to your opinions :) I feel like a LOT of the surprise songs have been Haylor and 1989 songs lately. Just thinking on it. Maybe she’s just super proud of 1989 (I definitely get that… it’s my favorite album)… but maybe, just maybe… she never quite put all her feelings to rest. Me either girl. 😫

Do you have thoughts on each of the surprise song choices? Is it all haylor?

To me they are, the theme of all of them is not being satisfied in her relationship and wanting an ex back, except CBBH which is a haylor love song

come back be here: one of the earliest songs Taylor wrote about Harry with clear call outs to him with London/NY. CBBH was rare before eras when it’s only play was August on the rep tour after Harry left LA for Italy. 👀 but it has been played three times on the eras tour now.

the way i loved you: being with a partner that good on paper but not the right person, Taylor is longing for a passionate relationship with an ex who she felt more for. 👀 An amazing surprise song, it hasn’t been played for 14 years.

the other side of the door: Taylor wants an ex back after she sees that she ruined the relationship, it’s about longing and regret. Taylor also played this earlier this year I think. Similar to TWILY

fresh out the slammer: wanting out of a stifling relationship and dreaming of an ex-partner who will be the first person she calls, who she’s dreamed of. I thought she would play this soon so it may not have particular meaning beyond the new album, but to me this song is Haylor.

high infidelity: feeling disrespected in a relationship and taunting her partner (Calvin) that she was unfaithful (with Harry) 👀on the date their collaboration was released
