granted, no athlete who respected himself or his JOB liked to lose, and that certainly included ben. not because he had some undying rivalry with chicago, or any other team for that matter, but because no one liked when their team lost. it was simple as that, being in that mindset all he wanted was to get back to the hotel and sleep it off, not really to engage in yet another argument with the brunette. “ i wasn’t taking it out on you, i APOLOGIZED. ” he pointed out, his voice even as he let his hazel gaze land on her. “ but it sounds like you enjoyed the game so… i’m glad. ” he added, surely thinking she’d enjoy watching him lose in any way, shape or form. or at least that’s how their previous interactions had made him feel. 

 “ in the most unapologetic way. “ scar had responded back, looking at him in slight disbelief, of course with their history, she did believe he didn’t know when to apologiz3e. “what no, i would never it just means youre honest and thats a good thing.” she said looking over at the girl before going back to making makeshift cards to stuff in packages. she pursed her lips pausing for a moment before pouting, “right sorry… i should know not to talk about it..” she muttered biting her lip instantly feeling bad for many reasons, “it just keeps my mind off of everything piling up in my life, takes away from the endless amount of boxes filling my house because i have to appear to being in love and having been dating for months on end. it’s just so annoying that i rather just throw myself into my work and focus on nothing else.”

scar just nodded, not even taking offense if it was what nova meant, but wasn’t even going to comment on it any further. “ talk about what ? “ she asked, faking dumb for the drop of subject. there are things she will openly talk about, and then others where she wouldn’t reopen her scarred wounds to. “ why do you put up with the fake part of your life if it isn’t what you want ? is it worth it ? “

nova took a second before she answered tapping the pen she had in her hand on her chin, “definitely both, i mean i know you wouldn’t lie to me because youre my best friend but i also know you wouldn’t lie to me if you weren’t my best friend because youre the truest person i know.” she smiled before she took a sip from her own glass, nodding a bit, “other than everything dropping out of nowhere, the “boyfriend” and trying to keep up with my other best friends hockey schedule, life is great. i couldn’t wish for anything differently.” she spoke sarcastically at the end, “trust me babe if i’d get sucked into  my work it’d be a blessing for me.”
