                                               WUZZ GUD YALL!

My name is Aaron Hamlet and I’m a fourth year Mechanical Engineer.

This past summer I decided to learn some Photography and Photoshop tips and tricks (mainly through linda and youtube), so excuse the amateur material. For the most part I’m self-taught and continue to push my learning by making flyers, gifs, edit photos, the whole hooplah as I continue my time at GT. Hence why I’m apart of THE BEST COMMITTEE OF AASU, the publications committee.

So ill start off the student spotlight by my 3 favorite photos I’ve taken over the summer as well as my 3 favorite art pieces that I’ve created. The title of the photo is bolded and the reason/inspiration is the subtext.

Day 1

This is the first time I took my camera out and forced myself to take photos everyday for a week. This picture is really dark, but if you can turn your brightness all the way up, then you’ll see the finer details in this photo. like the “Start strong, Armstrong” on the back of his shirt, the line of light posts leading into the sunset, and the general vibe. This is one of my most amateur photos that I didn’t really appreciate until later.

Essence

I was going through an emotional time(very light in hindsight) and my Clevelynn ( the model) came to visit me at tech. She also was going through a much heavier emotional/mental stress and we found comfort with each other as we reminisced about our high school days. My goal for this shoot was to get a photo that represented us looking towards the future.

RAF

This day was beautiful and I wanted to take photos. I called my friend and we drove around for 20 minutes before we stumbled upon piedmont park. This is my most recent planned photoshoot that was not a responsibility. Almost every photo of this shoot was usable(very rare occurance for me up until then).

ART SECTION (~time it took to complete)

Pretty Girls Love Trap Music (~15 hours)

After watching Rick and Morty, I became obssessed again with Deloreons. Thus I created this art piece. Around Half way into drawing this, 2 Chainz released his album Pretty Girls Love Trap Music(PGLTM) at the Atlanta Traphouse. So I recolored and themed the car to fit PGLTM Traphouse(also revealed on the album release date) and finished the art about a day or two after the album released. Also, since the Atlanta Traphouse became a tourist location, I figured the car that everybody took a picture on and around would break. The day after the car was totaled and taken off the lot of the tourist location, I shared this art on instagram.

note: The thumbs up logo on the hood of the car is the same thumbs up logo on the PGLTM Album cover.

Minnies (~3 Hours)

I made this for a friend that really loved the minions. I finished it right before the Despicable Me 3 movie released in theaters.

LEVEL 1 (~2 hrs) 

This is one of my most recent on-a-whim art pieces that I did. i call it level 1 because its the only digital drawing that I’ve done with 1 layer of color.--no shadows, gloss, highlight, etc. Everything is flat and that was my aim. My vision for the whole Levels project, was to have Air Jordans shoe models 1-12 hanging along the same powerline, each rendition, increasing in detail; level 2(Air Jordan 2) would have 2 layers of color, level 3(AJ3) 3 layers of color, etc.

October 28, 2017: Day of the Dead on The Roof at Ponce City Market (8pm-12am):
