Reflections on being a Daddy, what makes a boy?
Boys are very special little things, precious, made of joy and giggles and full of love. If you have the love of a boy you have the most amazing thing in the world, treasure it, because a loved boy is loyal, obedient and giving of himself.
The more time you invest in a boy the more he grows, or regresses, the more of himself he gives to you in exchange for the life you are creating for him.
If he knows you're happy and he's safe he will explore the very depths of his boyhood with you. He will willingly give up adult things in favour of little things.
When given a choice between an adult activity or colouring, playing toys or exploring another facet of his boyhood, he will choose the most boyish option.
Who doesn't want to come into a room to be met by a bouncing baby boy shouting Dada, Dada, Dada! Or when he accidentally calls you Daddy in front of others - melty moments are a boys domain, they can turn us into melted Daddy's in seconds!
His endless, boundless energy he will develop will inspire you, the way he finds silly boy things to do, like squat down to look at a bug on the floor. Insisting you have to come look even though you are running late! He of course isn't being naughty, he's being curious, and that must be supported!
Don't forget when he wants you to help him make "jumpies" over low walls, cracks in the floor or onto the pavement.tje way he pretends the wall is a tight rope!
And that brings us to his imagination, everything is a plot device in his wonderful world of play. Including you, and especially your side of the bed- which he claims is better than his......hmmmmm 🤣
Most of all they deserve our protection, all our little ones do, from the tiniest to the biggest. They need to feel safe, and it's the job of us grown ups to be that for them! In many ways our big little kiddos are more vulnerable than tiny little ones! And I won't stand by when I hear little ones being abused - please tell a grown up if someone is hurting you!
Our boys are a reflection of the best parts of us,I look at Riley and all I see is a bright, kind, sweet, adorable little boy, and I will fight like no Daddy ever had for him and his right to be a boy!
This I think this photo captures his innocence and the breath of life he brings to my life!
Boys are beautiful, pure and Magickal, to all the men and women who love our boys I salute you!
And to all of us parents adopting other people's kiddo's and making them our own I salute you too!
