Hello there. My name is Hugh Maffey and I am a 17 year old male human from New Zealand. I grew up in a small town South of Auckland called Waiuku, then eventually moved to an even smaller town on the end of the Manukau Heads Peninsula, called Awhitu, where I now live today. Music has always been my greatest passion, from the days that I would sit in my pram listening to my dad play in his Irish Folk band to now, and throughout the years I have only become more and more engrossed in playing and listening to music. Some of my favourite artists include: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Rage Against the Machine and Grada. Some of my favourite moments throughout my life have been: getting a Fender Squire for my ninth birthday (which I still have today), receiving a scholarship to attend Dilworth School and performing a solo with the Dilworth Choir Fortissimo.
When I saw your job advertisement on Seek I instantly became extremely excited. I am looking to leave school and start working but feel scared that I will find myself working a job that leaves me uninspired at the end of the day. After reading the description of the job I got started on this Tumblr page and here I am. Working in an environment where I can be surrounded by music would be amazing, before I saw this job advertisement I had forced myself to accept that I would probably have to keep my passion and my work apart and probably wouldn’t find a job where I could do both. Being able to apply for this job has given me new hope so I thank you for that. I admit that I may not be the most qualified of your entries and I won’t have the same experience as most of your applicants, but I can promise you that if you give me a chance I will be a hardworking, friendly and reliable member of your team. I can adapt quickly to new environments and am willing to learn all I need to be the best that I can.
Thank you for your time.

This is my solo in Fortissimo and was one of my proudest moments. (You’ll notice me, I stick out a bit)

Theses are a few of my CDs. I never used to buy CDs but then I realised how much of a buzz I get when I get an awesome album in hardcopy and it’s all legit.
