thinking about how my dad fled his home country at 19 in the middle of a war and then after 9/11 came to my preschool to educate kids on middle eastern culture/food/clothing so they wouldn’t be scared of people in traditional/religious dress or worry when they heard someone speaking arabic

Please make art. You don't have to bare your soul or make a masterpiece, you can be silly and you can be derivative if you want. You don't even have to show it to anyone. Just please make something, it's so good for you

Is it me talking about this part from The Flash & Green Lantern The Brave and The Bold #6 again? You bet.
So @haljordangreenjedi made some excellent point in these here tags
And it made me thinks of this. Hal says “the day we die.” Okay so this gives very much Hal thought they’d go out in the same blaze of glory vibes. He never expected to have to live without Barry.
Iris’ death affected Hal the most (minus Barry obviously) on the League because it was someone he loved dearly and lost specifically to the superhero life. It probably shifted it into focus that yes Hal could die but whatever more importantly Barry could die. And that we know is basically is one solid fear, watching a loved one die.
These two were so close that to Hal living without Barry doesn’t even seem like a possibility. But then it happens and Hal is lost. The people he thought were his friends turn their backs on him, brush him off, or actively scorn him.
Barry was his rock just like Hal was for him and he lost that. It’s no coincidence that when Barry comes back to life the person who tries to bring him back to the present, make him slow down is Hal. In fact they have multiple conversations about it because of how much Hal knows his friend is hurting.
Barry felt alone and isolated from his family because he wasn’t there to make the good memories with them or help them through the bad memories. Hal knew what it was like to feel all alone and made it his mission to help Barry slow back down.
These two mesh so well together because they’re so in tune they know what the other needs and does what they can to help. They can always turn to the other in a time of need and that is a really special relationship to have.
