đ± Is that ALBERTO ROSENDE walking about? Nah, thatâs just HUGO MENDOZA. The NINETEEN/TWENTY-THREE year old is currently working as a/an STUDENT at Fallcrest Community College/ASSISTANT at Veterinarian Clinic. Rumor has it theyâre a VAMPIRE and can be UNFORGIVING and NAIVE, but also KIND and TRUSTWORTHY. Some townâs folk would say theyâre the BENEVOLENT.

âP-Pikachu?â She frowned as she looked up, suddenly becoming confused because the conversation suddenly took a turn with the mention of the clouds. Now Nikita was figuring out just which one he was describing. âI⊠d-donât see it.. S-Sorry, I .. which one?â Hopefully she didnât annoy the other by not spotting said cloud right away. âUm.. T-this one.â She showed the cover of her book to him. âItâs.. itâs i-interesting, at least I.. I think it is.. But Iâm told that n-not many people enjoy itâŠâ
âYeah!â he said excitedly. âNot there.â Hugo said before taking hold of her by both her arms and turning her to one side before pointing up at the cloud again. âThere. The resemblance is uncanny!â He merely glanced at the book before grinning at her. âI mean, if you like it, thatâs what matters, right?â

Hugo had been too engrossed in playing Angry Birds on his phone and didnât realize that Willow had sat down beside him till she spoke. âOh, I sure -- thank you.â he said taking a fry and popping it into his mouth before realizing that she was offering him the whole thing. âWhy? Arenât you hungry? If you want something else, I actually have some chocolate with me!â he said brightly, rummaging through his bag looking for the chocolate he knew was in there somewhere.
Willow was having a hard time dealing with the cravings that came with being a new vampire. So usually she tried to keep active to take her mind off things. But this was a day that was especially bad so she tried an experiment where she went to a local fast food place to order fries and a milkshake, something she always splurged in before she was turned. Sadly with one bite of each she came to the realization that they tasted nothing like what she remembered. She sat down on a sidewalk bench with a heavy sigh without realizing there was someone next to her.  âDo you want these? I promise there is nothing wrong with them. Just not what I expected I guess.â

Lucy couldnât help but smile at how cheerful and eager, it was a nice change from the usual no-time-to-chat mood most people seemed to be in. She knew sheâd seen him before, when she brought her cat in for check ups and shots, much to the catâs dismay, but she didnât think sheâd forget his smile. Now, despite how busy she had been she had decided to take the time to make treats for the animals here, she did it at least once a month but usually he wasnât the one here when she dropped them off. âAh, no,â Lucy didnât sit he gestured to the seats, following him âActually I brought treats for the animals, and for you guys.â Smiling more, she watched him set the box down, laughing a little at his adoption question âNo, no, I have a cat whoâs more than enough trouble.â
His smile only widened when she said that she had brought over treats for the animals and the staff. âOh my God, youâre Lucy.â he said happily. âSo nice to meet you. Thank you so much, you really didn't have to, you know. But the chocolate chip cookies which you brought last month were really to die for. Do you work at a store or something? Because I would visit everyday and buy those cookies.â He chuckled a little when she mentioned her cat. âIf you ever feel like adding to the trouble, we have a few new kittens we need homes. You could also tell your friends.â

âUhâŠâ Russell murmured out with a slight shrug, taking a quick glance around the place. âSurely they have records on that sort of thing?â He asked back before giving off a small barking laugh. âNot monsters is always a good start. But, just okay? Are you sure? I like to think Iâm a little better than just okay.â
âI donât know!â he exclaimed. âBut you are probably right.â The man seemed to know a lot of things he did not, so he was going to listen to everything he said. âI mean, I am sure you are better than okay, I guess I mean just me then.â he chuckled. âI am just okay, youâre good, very good.â

Emma was too excited about the rock to let Hugo finish with what he was starting to say. This was too rare of a moment for it to be interrupt by another topic. They had time to talk about it later if it was that important. She was happy he saw it too, going to place it in her bag before stopping at his question. This topic hadnât come up with learning things about her new life, but she didnât see why not either. âWe should be able to do what we love, and if that means collecting rocks than why should it matter? Iâm going to do it anyways because I already have a small collection of rocks that I like.â
"You know what, you have an excellent point.â he grinned at the other. âAnd honestly, even if you didn't have more rocks, you should totally keep this one, itâs special.â he insisted. âYou should show me the others sometime though, I would love to see. I have a coin collection. Me and my sister used to collect coins when we were little but I sort of stopped doing it a while ago.â After he had been turned and his sister began to hate him but he didnât add that.

Carolina leaned back against the wall behind her bed with a small sigh. She had cleaned out her closet for the millionth time. Washed the kitchen counters, tried to find a series to watch by herself, called Nate just to talk, and now she was out of excuses to stay home. Which wasnât good. Something she was trying to be at the moment. Good and stable and.. more normal maybe? Pressing her lips together the vampire looked longingly at this incredibly cute dress she had found the other day which hung on her bedroom closet door. It was the perfect one for a night out dancing. But a night out never turned into âjust a night outâ. You could bet that she would end up doing something else she shouldnât, pissing someone off and creating chaos or just plain get ensnared by someone to participate in something trouble-like. A temptation began to tug at her, Lina slipped off her current outfit to put the dress on, studying herself in the mirror as she lifted her hair up to see if a ponytail would be better or not. In the middle of the process, there was a knock on the door. Padding out of her room, barefooted, Carolina opened the door. Not surprisingly, the sight of a distressed Hugo had the same effect on her as always, as she steeled herself for the gut punch of guilt, her eyes going wide and concerned by default. âOf course hon come, come. Doesnât matter what time it is.â She said, taking both his hands in hers as she gently led him inside, the door shutting on its own behind them. âCanât sleep?â Lina guessed, her mind racing at top speed in order to come up with anything that might make him feel better.Â
He was glad when she asked him to get inside, not that she had ever refused him before. But somehow he always felt like he was troubling her at the wrong times and this time was no different. âYeah..â he said slowly when she asked if he could not sleep. âItâs the same thing again and again. Same dreams. My mom and my dad and blood and.. I canât deal with it.â he said in a pained voice. The blood in his hands, always coming back to haunt him. And then imagines of him chasing after his sister but atleast, thanks to Alister, he hadnât ended up killing her too. He cursed the vampire who turned him every time he was reminded so vividly of what he had done the night he had turned. It was a few seconds before he finally took in the girlâs appearance. His eyes widened slightly seeing what she was wearing. She looked incredibly pretty, she always did of course, but this was more so that usual. It was a good thing that he couldn't blush or he would likely have turned a bright shade of pink -- one of the very many perks of being a vampire. But seeing her attire, he wondered if despite her insisting that it didnât matter what time it is, he had interrupted her evening. âWere you going somewhere? Its okay if you are, I can go back home. Come back and talk to you tomorrow or something. The walk was good for me, I sort of already feel better, you know? I don't want to interrupt -- uh -- anything.â He had to force himself to stop his rambling. âI just mean, if you are busy I get it. I can go.â

Hugo chuckled when he saw the girl getting irritated. âYou need to get a proper fake ID, there are people who will manage to get it for you.â Not that he needed his fake ID anymore, his real ID worked but he had gotten himself one a few years ago when he had been only nineteen. âI am Hugo by the way, have I seen you before? You look very familiar.â
Agnes sighed at the bartender, crossing her arms as her fake driverâs license was pushed back to her. Sure, she as only 18, but like many 18 year olds, she wanted to drink, and unlike most 18 year olds, sheâd be stuck at 18 for the rest of eternity, which, to her, meant that she might as well start drinking now. âIâm not sure what other form of ID youâd like to prove Iâm twenty-one, but last time I checked, people donât just carry around their passports so they can get a beer.â The girl shook her head, âThis is ridiculous.â

âI am fine, really, itâs totally okay.â he insisted. âBut look, that cloud really looks like pikachu, donât you think? Even the tail and all!â he said looking up and getting distracted all over again. âUm, sorry -- what book is that?â he asked when his concentration went back to the girl again.

âI donât knowâŠâ she shrugged, the smile quickly becoming a grin. âIâm not a mermaid.â To think that fishes were a lot more powerful than her even in that sense truly made her laugh, making her wonder what was even the point of having powers in the first place. âI donât know about you, but Iâd like to be a mermaid.â
âI would like to be one too.â he chuckled. âWell, not a mermaid but.. merboy? merman? I guess whatever they call them -- but Iâll pass if the price is my voice or something. I cannot imagine a life without being able to talk.â He shuddered a little at the thought.

Mariana knew she was right, especially when thinking about her co-worker and friend wearing what he had pulled out to take a look at. She only shrugged, adding, âI know.â Her voice was matter-of-factly, as she took a look over the clothes on the rack before she saw Hugo grab another top that looked a whole lot better than the first. âWell, the color looks a lot better already.â She stated while taking a closer inspection at the top, placing her hand on the material to feel the texture of it. She was proud that he was learning what looked good and what didnât look good, but it still was a work in progress. âI think this could suit you. Where were you thinking of wearing it?â She asked almost condescendingly so.Â
âThanks.â A wide smile grew on his lips when she approved of the shirt he had picked out. He trusted her advice. If she said it suited him, it must -- even if he wasnât all that sure about it. âFor work, or you know, college.â he said looking at the price tag to make sure it wasnât all too expensive. He began to look for another shirt -- he need a few new ones, his old ones were starting to get.. well, old. And someone at college had already pointed out that he wore the same clothes over and over again. He didn't see a problem in that but maybe a few new shirts wouldn't hurt. âHow about this?â

It was quite a dull day at work and so when Lucy came by, Hugo was rather glad for the company. âHi! How can I help you?â he asked brightly before quickly walking towards her because she seemed to carrying a huge box in her hand. âLet me get that for you.â he said, taking it from her and gesturing to the chairs, so that she could take a seat. He placed the box in another of the empty chairs and turned to her with a smile on his lips. âAre you here to adopt?â

Russell gave another glance over the young man with a short chuckle, giving him a one off shrug. âIâm never opposed to double checking.â It wasnât that he cared too much about the building, but the people were something he liked to think he cared about from time to time. âI suppose it wouldnât hurt. If we can prevent future deaths, then that would make us good people, huh?â
Hugo smiled brightly. âHow do we do that? How do we double check?â he wondered out loud. âWell, I think if we do what we can to prevent deaths, it just makes us.. people? I guess? And not monsters. Good people are those who actually go out of their way to help those in need, you know. We are okay, I guess. We are okay people, we do what we can.â

Elijah was exhausted. All he wanted to do was go to his room, lay down, and cry until he fell asleep. He got back home to see that his sister and mother werenât home yet, so he knew that he wouldnât have any disturbances from them⊠but as he approached his door, he spotted Hugo with Mister Whiskers. Immediately, the blond paused and swallowed hard, trying to make himself appear more normal, instead of the mess of a person he felt like. âHey, Hugo.â He said from behind him, trying to force a small smile. âWhatâs up?â
The door had barely even opened and Hugo had begun to ramble without so much as a hello to Elijah. Mister Whiskers walked into Eliâs apartment like he owned the place. âWe were just going back home but you know how Whiz gets, he really wanted to see you. And if I say no he would scratch me to --â His chattering stopped when his eyes fell on the other, the grin on his face fading away. He looked a mess, his eyes were puffy and red and it was easy for Hugo to say that he was not his usual cheerful self. âEli -- whatâs going on with you, are you alright?â he asked before realizing that it was such a stupid question really. He was obviously not alright. âHey -- itâs going to be okay.â he said before throwing his arms around the other and pulling him into a hug.

The past few days had been rather busy ones for Hugo. He almost always managed things fine but sometimes, it got difficult to balance study and work â which usually ended with him losing sleep. A completely exhausted Hugo had fallen asleep at an odd hour that evening and before long, he woke up with a start, stiffing a scream. Blood. It was all he could see. Blood everywhere. Not in his room, it was in his mind. The images of his dead parents was back to haunt him â their cold, dead, lifeless eyes staring up at Hugo. His hands had been covered in blood. He could taste it, he could taste their blood on his lips now.. he had to stop thinking about that night. He quickly got up from his bed, looking at the time â relieved to see that it wasnât all that late at night. He didnât waste any time, quickly stepping out of his apartment to get some fresh air to clear his head. He hadnât consciously thought about where he was going but he found himself in front of Carolinaâs door before long. She would understand him. Standing out there, he knocked the door, the smallest of smiles on his lips when the door opened. But it wasnât Carolina who opened the door, it was Rosalie. âSorry â I know itâs late but.. is Carolina home?âÂ

Hugo walked the pavement with his eyes fixed on the sky. Not the brightest of ideas, he was clumsy and fell down twenty times a day even when he focused on his path. This was bound to end badly -- but there was a cloud in the sky which looked pretty much like Pikachu and he couldnât help but keep looking at it. That was when he bumped into Nikita, his thoughts snapping back to reality and his eyes falling on her. âOh my God -- it is all my fault.â he apologized frantically. âI am so sorry, I wasnât even looking where I was going -- are you okay?â
Nikita finally had the day off and the shifter decided to spend her day out of the house since her mother was constantly nagging at her to go outside more. Something about being cooped up in either her room or the lab too often that it was getting ridiculous. Nikita didnât think so.Â
With a book in her hand, Nikita had her nose to the pages while she walked. It wasnât probably the best idea, and it was soon proven true when the girl suddenly collided with something - or rather, someone. âS-Sorry!!â She had her head kept down as she semi-bowed in an apologetic manner. âI.. Sorry..â

âI donât know.. maybe itâs just a coincidence.â Hugo suggested, a grin on his lips. âDonât you think they would probably be able to accurately guess if you are a mermaid or not? I mean they are fishes, so -- I donât know, they probably have some extra sensory powers.â he said chuckling a little.
âIâve been walking back and forth in this particular area and the fishes wonât stop following me. Is it in their nature or could they think Iâm a mermaid?â Ophelia wondered out loud, trying to keep a straight face before a smile broke through. âMermaids⊠as if.âÂ
