“Glad to make an impression.” Scott laughed, though the ruby red sunglasses on his face probably made the impression for him better then his personality did. “Thanks, and yeah I’m being a bit more careful after that whole experience.” He chuckled. “I’m doing good actually, thanks. What about you? Last time I saw you you were being a good Samaritan, how does that go nowadays?”
.
“Maybe you could get one of those cords that attach to the end of glasses that way you don’t lose them again.” He suggested. “I’m glad to hear so.” Jon truly was too. The men were essentially strangers, but he never wished bad on anyone. “It’s going good.” He let out a soft laugh. Being a good samaritan was all part of the hero thing, but Jon genuinely enjoyed it. Even when he wasn’t being Superman he tried his best to help other people when they needed it.

she chuckled “but i’d be an even cooler bunny! and don’t try and convince me otherwise, we both know it’d be fucking awesome!” irey grinned “i should talk to dami about getting a pet bunny… that’d be so dope.” hopefully she’d remember to see if ferrets and rabbits got along or not, but if not damien would let her know if it was a bad idea or not. “no, it’s not. i should let it go really… it’s been long enough and i keep bringing it up. i’m just being dumb, it’s fine.” she smiled, not as bright or broad as her normal smiles but she hoped it was enough. irey moved her hands from his shoulders to push herself up, but the way her leg had fallen asleep so as soon as she was halfway standing she fell right back into his lap. she scrambled, hands grabbing at his shoulders to stop her tumble, faces inches apart “i uh- my leg is asleep…”
.
Jon couldn’t help but laugh at Irey’s confidence in her theoretical bunny appearance. Giving in, he nodded. “You’re right. You would be an awesome giant pink bunny if Zatanna turned you into one.” It would be one hell of a magic show. “Are you going to co-parent?” He asked, a smile spread across his mouth at the mention of his best friend. Jon always loved when Damian was brought up in conversation. Sighing, he gave in. If she didn’t want to linger on it any longer, he wasn’t going to force her to. Guilt would still eat at him as the conversation moved on. She started to move off of him and Jon moved his arms so that she could move without restraint. That had clearly been the wrong move as she came crashing back down onto his lap. “Hi again.”

Dory closed her eyes and made a wish, like Jon had told her too. There were so many things she wanted but one stood out the most. She wished for Jon to be the one, and if he wasn’t then that nothing between them would ever change. She always wanted him in her life because he made her happy. Dory let out a laugh opening her eyes at his question. “I don’t think i’m supposed to tell you! Then it might not come true!” she countered her fingers poking him lightly in the stomach. “I wished for something that makes me happy.” she hinted.
.
“Why not?” He asked, trying to hide his pout. Her answer was valid though, and so he didn’t press her for an answer to satiate his curiosity. “I don’t want to know then.” Jon wanted all of Dory’s dream to come true, including the one she had just wished for. “I hope it comes true.” He mused with a smile. They had wished for the same thing: Dory’s happiness. “Are you hungry? My grandma packed us some things.”

Shivers ran down her spin, her gills wiggled behind her ears, the sparks reaching her toes. “Yeah” she said breathlessly as his lips touched hers and he pulled her close. He literally took her breath away, she’d never felt like this before. Dory curled one of Jon’s soft curls around her fingers before dropping her hand to her side. She gasped lightly pointing up toward the sky. “Did you see that?” She whispered as the sky quickly lit up with a shooting star. “Aren’t you supposed to make a wish?” She asked curiously her eyes still on the sky.
.
As Jon pulled away, a smile drew across his lips. Dory lit him up, bringing out a bright side of him. Turning, his gaze followed the length of her arm until his eyes were looking up at the stars above. “It’s a shooting star.” He whispered back. “Yeah, close your eyes and make a wish.” Jon closed his eyes, silently making a wish of his own. He wished for Dory’s happiness; whatever that may be. He just wanted to see her smiling without a worry in the world. His eyes fluttered open once again and he moved to look at her. “What did you wish for?”

Jon was warm. He radiated it and she snuggled in closer to soak up the heat. He reminded her of the sun. They’d hugged a thousand times but somehow this was way better, why hadn’t they been doing this from the very start. It felt so natural. Dory had watched other girls fall head over heels for Jon and she could always understand why. She looked for him in other boys, for someone just like Jon but had never been successful, there was no one like Jon. To her he was perfect. A knot formed in her stomach as she thought about the other girls Jon liked and who liked him. Yara. Would she be upset with her? Would she hate her? All thoughts subsided when he told her he loved her too and Dory’s heart swooned her smile getting bigger if that was possible. Her breath was caught in her throat when his fingers traced her face, his hands were soft and it tickled. “You don’t have to ask me you know.” she let out a small chuckle. “you can just -” Dory shrugged lightly. “you know - kiss me.”
.
Jon was used to asking for consent. It was only right considering he never wanted to cross a line with anyone. Dory gave him clear consent to not ask though, and he would use it until she told him no or made it clear that she no longer wanted him to kiss her without asking. “You mean like this?” He whispered, leaning in to close the space between them. Pressing his lips against Dory’s, he pulled her close as they kissed. His nerves tingled as the sensation shot through him, sending a shiver down his spine. Kissing Dory was unlike anything he had ever experienced, even after the first time. It was obvious to him that kissing her would never lose that same spark that the first one held. He just hoped that she felt it too.

Jon sat on his mom’s couch, eyes fixated on the carpet that lay across the floor below. He chewed on the inside of his cheek to keep his smile at bay, thinking about his date with Dory. It had gone so well, and he couldn’t stop thinking about it. The next one had to be just as good if not better, so he came to Lois for advice. “Grandma said I could bring her back to the farm, but I want to do something different. It went well, but it doesn’t feel right to repeat it.”

Rose watched the other for a moment after all she was rather curious as to which one she was meeting. “Yes Jon, you’ll have to forgive me, I’m terrible with names. I’m Rose if you didn’t already know that also if you are looking for Dory she isn’t here right now.” She mused shaking his hand “How interesting so do you guys just not feel the cold? Or is it easier to focus so far away from everything?”
.
There was nothing to forgive as far as he was concerned. Being confused with his twin wasn’t an insult. “It’s okay. Nice to meet you Rose. I actually came to see Mar’i. Is she here?” He asked, taking the opportunity to listen for his friend’s heartbeat. It was close but that didn’t mean it was here. “We can feel the cold. We just have a higher tolerance to it. It’s easier to focus so far away from everything too. It’s not as loud out there.” He tried to explain, hoping that she would understand what he meant. Jon had never been great at explaining his abilities to people. He was better at showing.

“Yeah… I should have practiced more. I got impatient.” She sighed. Lara had waited 3 years; she could have waited a little bit longer. But she risked her life instead. She risked causing her mother even more grief. Lara frowned at the mention of their mother. “She’s… keeping busy. She misses you both. She didn’t want me to come… She doesn’t really know that I left. I told her I was going abroad. For school.” Lara bit her lip. “Metropolis is fine. Hopefully. I was hoping that if I helped… we could all go home together.”
.
Jon would have been worried if Lara wasn’t already there. He couldn’t exactly blame her for rushing to get to the past, though. If it was him, he probably would have done the same thing after three years apart. “I’m glad you’re okay.” Now was not the time to scold her as a big brother would. Busy was good. It was better than being holed up at home worried for the welfare of her children. “We miss her too.” It made sense that Lois didn’t want Lara to follow the twins into the past. It was dangerous, and she had already been parted from her sons for three years. Who knew how long it would be until she saw all of her children again, with Lara joining them. “You didn’t tell her that you were coming here?” Lois would be devastated when she realized - and she would realize. Their mother was too smart not to. “Hopefully? Is Kara watching it?” It was a nice dream: fixing the time machine, but things hadn’t been that easy thus far. Unless his sister had some magical plan it was going to have to wait.

Dory looked over at Jon and laid down curling up next to him, her head on his shoulder. “I love you - I guess…that kind of takes on a new meaning when there’s kissing involved…but i’ve told you that a million times and it’s never going to change.” Dory never seconded guessed telling Jon she loved him but now that they were dating, or trying to date, or whatever this was love had something more behind it. She wasn’t sure you were supposed to tell a guy you loved him on the first date but Jon was her best friend, this wasn’t the first time she was getting to know him. Dory turned to look at him. “You can tell me anything, you know that.” she gave him a soft smile. Her face turned beat red as she blushed hard, his hand bringing hers to his chest. She could feel it beat fast, almost as fast as her own. “Jon.” she whispered. “Do you want to kiss me?”
.
Jon wrapped his arm around Dory as she laid down, curling into his side. It was the perfect spot for her. She told him she loved him, and he turned his head to look down at her. Smiling, he couldn't help the way he beamed. Saying that they loved each other didn’t lose any of its meaning, only gaining more now that there was kissing involved. It was a different kind of love. With Yara, his feelings had drastically changed. He could pinpoint the exact moment his love for her had changed. With Dory, he couldn’t. He had always loved her but never questioned how intensely until now. Maybe he had always felt this way about her but just didn’t realize it. There was no big epiphany, but he knew he felt the same way when she said it to him. “I love you too." Nothing would change that. Jon's heart rate only increased as she asked if he wanted to kiss her. His hand moved around the back of her ear, tucking the strand of hair securely behind it. Letting his fingers trace the curve of her face, following along until his thumb settled onto her chin, his eyes hovered over her lips. The answer was yes. He did want to kiss her. He couldn’t stop thinking of the way her lips felt against his. "I do. Can I kiss you?"

“Oh it’s you again.” Scott remembered him distinctly. It was hard to forget losing his shades and thinking ‘please don’t let me die in such a dumb way’. Would have been a real crappy way to go out, and without Jon’s help it may have happened. “I don’t know if you remember me,” Though Scott had been told he made an impression with those scarlet glasses of his. “I’m Scott.”
.
“Hey! I remember you.” Jon smiled, happy to see Scott’s friendly face in the city again. It wasn’t often that he ran into the people he had helped more than once. “Your glasses still look cool, and you aren’t missing them this time.” He joked, chuckling to himself. “How are you?”

Dory blushed at his wink. This was a different kind of attention from Jon she was receiving and she didn’t think she’d ever get bored of the butterflies fluttering around in her stomach when he looked at her like that. Dory always knew that Jon would be in her life in her future, but she’d never planned on daydreaming about being his girlfriend or showing him Atlantis or maybe even one day ruling it with him. These girly daydreams had started showing up after the kiss, a form of excitement and infatuation all rolled into one. Part of her world “Was that a little mermaid reference?” she laughed, her eyebrows raised at him. Dory shifted making herself comfortable in the bed of the truck. Dory didn’t date much and more recently she had told Jai she liked him and he had ghosted her, which made her embarrassed. Having your feelings out there was scary but unlike Jai, Jon was always honest. “I guess i’m always nervous to let someone in. But with you it’s different.” she admitted. “It’s not silly. It’s sweet. Were you nervous for this date? You know whatever we did would have been perfect because it was with you.”
.
“Maybe.” He laughed. Dory reminded him of mermaids, and she was an actual princess. The only other mermaid princess he knew about was the little mermaid. Jon laid down, looking up at the star-filled sky above. It was the biggest thing that separated him from his dad. Jon couldn’t just fly into the atmosphere and continue to breathe like normal. He had tried once, and it hadn’t gone well. It was a reminder that no matter how hard he tried, he would never be his dad. He had to be his own man, his own Superman. Grabbing one of the pillows, he used it to prop his head up. “It’s just me. I’ll wait for as long as you need. I’m not going anywhere.” Jon didn’t want to rush her or make her feel like she had to open this new part to him. It was hard and scary enough with people that weren’t your best friend. It only made it worse being so close because of the risks, but he was confident in them. He wasn’t going anywhere, and he knew Dory wasn’t either. “I was really nervous. Can I tell you a secret?” He asked, leaning up so that he could whisper in her ear. “I’m still really nervous. Here.” Jon reached for her hand, wanting her to feel the way his heart was racing in his chest. “I just wanted you to like it. You’re special. You deserve something like you. Something we’ll never forget, and I’ll never forget this.”

Dory smirked at him her hand snaking around his and pulling him closer, “like that, if you get too close.” she teased lightly. She liked that she could be herself around Jon and that he liked her for who she was. “You’re the only one who tells me that.” she said softly, her words quiet. It was weird to think how quickly romantic feelings could happen, but deep down she had always been in love with Jon, he just belonged to another girl or Yara and she never allowed those types of feelings to ever bubble to the surface because he was her best friend and she knew that wasn’t fair of her because he counted on her. She had let that slip the night of the kiss but it had all worked out for the better. “I would love that. Atlantis is a whole other world, it’s my world.” she gushed. Dory followed him to the Truck, letting him help her up into the bed of it. She took a seat on the blanket and pillows laid out smoothing her dress down and crossing her tennis shoe clad feet out in front of her. “I’ve only been on two dates in my entire life…that’s kind of silly right?”
.
Jon looked down at Dory as she wrapped herself around him, pulling him close to her. He smiled, leaning down to kiss the top of her head, a laugh leaving his parted lips. “Well, if you were seaweed I would get as close as I could.” Flashing a dimple at her, he winked. “I’m never gonna stop. It’s the truth. You’re the most special person I know.” He couldn’t believe that no one else bothered to tell her how special she was. It was so obvious to him. He knew it like he knew the sky was blue and the sun would come up tomorrow. It was just a fact. She was special and he was lucky to have her; he would remind her of it for as long as he could still speak. “I want to be a part of your world.” He told her honestly. Jon had always wanted to. His place had been beside her for as long as she had been above the surface and he longed to be with her again when she was in the water, too far away for him to join her. Jon sat down next to Dory once she was situated, wanting her to be completely comfortable before he found his spot beside her. “I don’t think that’s silly. There’s only two dates I’ve been on that I really care about. I don’t really remember any of the other ones.” He admitted, looking at her. “Is it silly that I planned and re-planned this date a dozen times?”

“I care about you too.” she said stepping up on her tiptoes to kiss him on the shoulder in a affectionate gesture. Even though she was nervous because the feelings she was feeling for him were new, it was comfortable. “That sounds like a lot of fun.” Halloween wasn’t that big in Atlantis but when she was on the surface she had learned about the holiday. “It’s a little more lively, because of the water sometimes it can wrap around you.” Thinking of it now it might be the perfect thing for Halloween seaweed grabbing you while you’re trying to run or rather swim through a maze. She was blown away by how thoughtful it was but also how romantic she could see why all the girls loved Jon. “I do. I love that you thought about this for me. It makes me feel special.” she told him biting her bottom lip the blush on her cheeks evident. Dory looked up at the stars as he mentioned them, he was right. They were crystal clear and sparkling. “You can’t see the stars from Atlantis but when you’re in the middle of the ocean above the waves, it looks just like this.” she explained. “I love the stars ever since I was little I loved looking at them. This is really special Jon.” she said walking closer to the setup.
.
Jon smiled, feeling her lips against his shoulder. It was a small gesture that helped him relax, reminding him that everything was going to be okay no matter what happened. “I can bring you next year and we can go through it together if you want.” He offered, wondering to himself why he had never thought to bring the team there before. It would have been a perfect way for the team to get together and do something fun. “It wraps around you?” That sounded much scarier than just a regular old cornfield. She said she did and it felt like the world had been lifted off of his shoulders. He was relieved that she liked it because that was all he had wished for. He wanted this date to be enjoyable more than anything else, for her to have fun and do something they had never done before. “You are special, Dory.” She had always been special to him, holding a notable spot in his heart for as long as he could imagine. “Maybe you can show me some day.” He told her, trying to give them something to look forward to some day. Jon wanted to see her home just as much as he wanted her to see his. “I’m glad you like it. Come on.” Pulling on her hand again, he led her to the truck. Stepping onto the bed, he got his footing before helping her up.

Rose looked at the male for a moment, it was obvious he was a Kent boy; she just wasn’t which one he was, having not really had the pleasure of meeting either of the Kent twins she took a chance. “So are you the one who is always hanging out with Dory or the one who took a trip to icicle sanctum?” She questioned leaning back in her chair.
.
Jon stood by Jason’s door, his eyes moving around the apartment, looking for something to catch his attention. Hearing Rose speak, he looked up at her. “I’m the one who is always hanging out with Dory. I’m Jon.” He introduced himself, walking over to her and sticking his hand out for her to shake. “My brother, Jordan, is the one who took a trip to the Fortress of Solitude.”

she nodded, happy with being described that way. “aw, and here i was gonna see if zatanna could turn me into a bunny so i could complete the meme. fine, i’ll just stay a boring human.” irey huffed, a pout on her face. part of her knew that her friends loved her and that they didn’t mean to hurt her, but as much as she pretended that it hadn’t being left like that did hurt. she wasn’t mad that they wanted to come back to this time, she’d have personally brought them if they asked… but to just wake up to find her best friends gone like that… “never mind, it’s not important.” she flashed him a bright smile, head tilting to the side “i should probably get off your lap huh?” irey chuckled as she realised how close they were
.
Jon shook his head, a soft laugh falling from his lips at the mental image of Zatanna turning Irey into a life-sized pink bunny. “You aren’t a boring human. You’re a cool human.” He corrected her. There weren’t very many people that Jon found anything short of interesting, but this was especially the case with Irey. How did you find someone who could move faster than the speed of light boring? “It is.” He started to protest, not wanting her to think that he didn’t think she cared. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t have been there. Before he had a chance to get into it, she changed the subject. Now very aware of her on his lip. Jon cleared his throat, shifting under her. “Yeah, sure, sorry.”

“Of course it’s okay, you’re always so thoughtful.” Jon was genuine and honestly so was Jordan. they both came from a good family with good values. Their family kind of reminded her of her own. Sometimes she wished she had a sister or brother instead of being an only child, she really wanted to go home and gush about this date to someone but she hadn’t told Lian or Mar’i yet. Dory looked down at his hand in hers and curled her fingers around his hand. She followed him through the corn field her free hand lightly touching the stalks as they went. “If we don’t have corn tonight i’m going to be disappointed.” she teased with a light chuckle. “Is this a maze? I think I’ve heard of this before corn maze? We have like a seaweed maze in Atlantis but it’s on the outskirts of the city.” Dory chatted but as soon as they got to the clearing she gasped her breath taken away at the sight he had planned for them. “You did this?” she asked turning towards him. “For me?”
.
“I just care about you.” He replied honestly. Well before Jon had asked her out on a date or kissed her, he cared deeply for Dory. It was in his nature to care about the people around him and in his life. “I will too.” He admitted, looking back at her for a second before turning back ahead of him. The terrain was bumpy and the last thing he wanted to do was trip in front of her on their first date. With any luck, his grandma had added cornbread inside of the basket she had made for them. It was better than a corn of cob and would help to curb the nerves before they started to become overwhelming. It was a comfort he never thought he would need around Dory. She had always been one of the things to help his anxiety and he was sure that once they got used to whatever this was, she would do just that again. For now, though, he couldn’t look at her without his heart racing and his stomach doing flips. “Yeah, she turns it into a corn field every Halloween until she harvests the crop.” He confirmed, looking around at the tall stalks. “I think she likes seeing how happy it makes everyone.” The whole town loved Martha and she loved them all in return. “Is it as thick as this?” Jon questioned, trying to imagine it. Jon stopped once they made it. Hearing her gasp, he smiled at Dory. “Do you like it? I thought we could stargaze. You can see the stars better out here. The smog blocks them out of Gotham so they’re harder to see but the night is clear out here, especially in the middle of the field because we’re far enough away from the farmhouse that the lights don’t block out anything.”
