“O-oh no! Of course not!” Kageyama exclaimed loudly, wincing a little at Suga’s pat on his shoulder. Geez, no wonder Daichi-san and Azumane-san always looked so glum after getting “playfully” punched by Sugawara-san. 

“I was wondering, Sugawara-san,” Kageyama began again, “if we could practice some combination plays?” 

humbled-king:

Kageyama bowed jerkily. “T-thank you, Sugawara-san,” he said. Maybe deep down Kageyama already knew that was true. Either way, he felt reassured hearing that from Karasuno’s official setter himself. 

“I think we can handle anything… t-together,” he managed awkwardly. He shuffled on his feet. Sugawara-san had so much knowledge and experience, and Kageyama hoped he could gain a little of it. 

Suga’s heart swelled hearing Kageyama say that. For a moment he couldn’t hide the stunned look on his face, but it gave way to a wide smile. “Of course we can!” This time he did give Kageyama a (slightly too hard) encouraging pat on the shoulder. 

“Besides, I can’t let you go around having all the fun,” he added with a wink.
