Herbs & Hearts (Pt .6)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
The battle had finally ended after hours of relentless fighting, leaving the battlefield in a gruesome state. As the wounded warriors returned to their homes and camps, the extent of the casualties became painfully evident.
Y/n stood in front of the door and muttered a prayer of hope, to anyone who is listening. She took a deep breath, calming her nervous heart before summoning her last few energy and courage. She then opened the door and rushed into the room, summoning as many vines as she could that surrounded her clinic. All at once, she commanded the vines to bandage, cure and do surgery on the wounded soldiers. Normally, she would get as much as 6 patients a day, but the battle had injured all of them in some way and she was trying her best to cure every single one of them. She also instructed some of the children of the academy, who were too young to go to battle, to help her get medical supplies from the storage room. The cries of pain and desperation echoed through the clinic as she tirelessly tended to each wounded warrior. She was the only healer available to manage the overwhelming demand.
As the sun set, Y/n sent her last patient home, her own fatigue catching up with her. She sank into her chair, massaging her neck and shoulders, feeling the weight of the day's events bearing down on her. Her commitment to her work was unwavering, even though the battle had taken a heavy toll on her.
Despite the exhaustion, Y/n knew she had to continue her research. She turned to her books and the world map on her board. Empress Mileena had personally chosen her to help find a cure for the mysterious disease affecting Outworld. The responsibility weighed heavily on her shoulders, and she was determined to make progress. In the midst of her research, Kung Lao burst into the clinic, his stomach growling with hunger.
“Y/n! Time to eat! I. Am. Starving!” He shouted while emphasising on his last sentence. He plopped down on the medical bed and eagerly awaited Y/n's attention. She chuckled but asked him to wait as she continued working on her cure, engrossed in her thoughts and calculations. Her mind also started wondering how he could still be cheerful after the war. And somehow, it drifted to Raiden.
“So, have you talked to Raiden yet?” She asked, not looking away from her books and the map. Kung Lao groaned and showed reluctance, avoiding the conversation he knew he needed to have.
“You promised that you will talk to him after the battle is over,” She said again, which only earned her another groan from him. It was like having a conversation with a toddler.
“I mean technically the battle isn’t really over. The other timeline Shang tsung is still out there, somewhere,” He answered as he sat up. Y/n only shook her head.
“This is ridiculous. What was the fight even about?” She asked but Kung Lao, however, chose to keep the details to himself. He didn't want to burden Y/n with additional concerns when she already had so much on her plate. Y/n sighed before going back to work. The two were sitting in comfortable silence until Y/n jumped from her seat.
“Oh my god. Kung Lao, I think I found it!” She exclaimed, running over to him. She explained to Kung Lao how plants and Tarkat had a unique connection and that she believed she could create a new solution for her medicines by extracting nectar from a particular plant.
Kung Lao, intrigued by her discovery, asked for clarification for the plant’s whereabouts. Y/n eagerly located a marker, returning to her map to illustrate her point. She enthusiastically explained that she believed the plant they were searching for was on a distant island, which held the potential to cure Tarkat.
Kung Lao's understanding was limited, but he grasped the significance of her discovery. Excited, he celebrated the news with Y/n. As he hugged her in joy, he suddenly paused, a look of confusion crossing his face.
"Wait, can't you just grow the plant with your powers?" he inquired. Y/n shook her head, explaining that she couldn't simply create a plant she had never seen or visualised before. Kung Lao nodded slowly, attempting to understand.
Finally, Kung Lao pulled her away from her work and brought her to the dining hall, determined to ensure she took a break to eat and recharge.
-
When Y/n and Kung Lao entered the bustling dining hall, they were greeted by the welcoming smiles and enthusiastic waves of their Earthrealm friends, the Earthrealm gang. A long table could accommodate six people, and their friends sat in pairs: Liu Kang next to Johnny and Kenshi, and Raiden seated across from them.
Kung Lao frowned at the seating arrangement but remained silent as Y/n took her place between them, ensuring a buffer to prevent any potential disputes. The atmosphere was somewhat strained, with Johnny and Kenshi locked in a lively debate about Johnny's new Mortal Kombat movie concept, and Liu Kang engrossed in reading a scroll, likely containing information regarding the Royal family of Outworld. Raiden contemplated breaking the silence with a conversation but was preempted by Liu Kang, who directed his question to Y/n.
“So Y/n, is there any progress on the cure?” Liu Kang asked, putting down his scroll. The whole table went quiet so that they could listen to what she had to say. Y/n’s face lit up upon the question and had proudly claimed that she was 90% sure that she had found the location of the plant. Johnny laughed at the younger female and asked about the 10% left.
“The 10% is when I actually find the plant. The location is all based on theories so I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up yet…”She trailed off. Liu Kang nodded, while trying to think about her plan of finding the plant.
"When will you embark on this mission? Keep in mind, lives are hanging in the balance, so we require swift action," he reminded. Y/n retrieved a small notebook from her pocket and began to elucidate the riddle she had unearthed in the pages of an explorer's historical journal.
"To uncover the answer, here's your sole boon; Solve the enigma under the full moon," she proclaimed.
Johnny inquired, "Clearly, the puzzle must be solved during a full moon. When is the next one?"
"Fortunately, it graces the night sky tomorrow. May I seek permission to undertake the mission then?" Y/n asked. The lord nodded with a proud smile and inquired if anyone would accompany Y/n to provide support. Johnny and Kenshi promptly declined, claiming they were occupied with their own matters. Kung Lao had said that he was about to train his new initiate, Shujinko. Everyone looked at Raiden, expecting to hear his answer. Raiden didn’t want to go, but he also didn’t want to leave Y/n alone so he agreed reluctantly.
“Great! Raiden, we’ll leave at sunrise tomorrow,” Y/n said. She was pleased with Raiden's decision and expressed her gratitude, mentioning that they would leave at sunrise the following day. However, her smile waned when she saw Raiden abruptly stand and leave the dining hall with only a disinterested remark.
“Yeah, whatever,” was the only thing he said before walking out of the dining hall. The table was left in perplexed silence, exchanging questioning glances, trying to fathom the sudden change in Raiden's demeanour.
“Wow, he is much more emo than my 2013 Tumblr phase,” Johnny commented but no one got his joke. Johnny groaned before going back to his conversation with Kenshi. As Liu Kang left for an urgent matter, Y/n and Kung Lao were left alone at the table. Y/n's expression revealed her confusion, while Kung Lao grappled with a growing sense of guilt. He couldn't help but think that his and Raiden's friendship would never be the same again.
Kung Lao voiced his concern, questioning Y/n's decision to go on the mission with Raiden. He suggested that she wait until Shujinko's training was complete. He held her hand, nervously rubbing his thumb over her knuckles. Y/n reassured him, insisting that she needed to retrieve the cure as soon as possible, as lives were at stake and the next full moon won’t be anytime soon.. Kung Lao sighed, knowing that her determination was unwavering, and reluctantly agreed to her decision.
As they turned their attention back to Johnny and Kenshi, Kung Lao couldn't shake the underlying feeling of unease. He subtly observed Y/n, silently praying for her safety, and hoping that the gods would watch over her on their journey.

Herbs & Hearts (Pt.5)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
Raiden roamed the academy grounds, seeking his dear friend, Y/n. A lot of things have happened for the past few days and in just a few days, they will follow Liu Kang to war against the other Shang Tsung, who had disguised himself as Damashi. Raiden wanted to talk to Y/n, just to have a clear mind about her ‘relationship’ with Kung Lao. He had truly missed their friendship, and wanted to spend some time with her just in case anything happened during the war and he wasn’t able to resolve any issues he had with Y/n. He soon found them at her greenhouse, and Y/n was feeding him a spoonful of medicine paste that she had made. He watched their interaction, smiling and looked very happy without him there. As he approached, they finally acknowledged his presence, and Y/n greeted him with a smile. However, Kung Lao's response was less enthusiastic, and Raiden couldn't help but detect a hint of disappointment in his friend's eyes.
“Raiden. Are you here to get treated?” Y/n inquired, preparing to retrieve her portable medical kit from her bag. Raiden stammered, initially hoping for a private conversation with her rather than with Kung Lao present.
“Actually, I’m here to just check on you,” He said, walking nearer to her study table and looking at the plants she had grown. He saw a picture frame sitting next to a plant, and noticed that the picture it holds was Kung Lao and Y/n, taking a selfie. Both of them were wearing their monk’s clothes, so it was pretty recent. When did they take this? And where was he?
"I'm doing well. Both of us are fine. Thank you for asking, Raiden,” She answered, almost robotically. The whole conversation didn’t feel as natural as before, and he wonders if all of this was his fault. There was silence in the greenhouse as Y/n worked on her new medicine. The silence soon became unbearable, but lucky for them, Johnny had run in. All three’s attention was on the actor who raised an eyebrow at them.
“Alright, so something definitely happened here, and I would love to hear the gossip. Unfortunately, Kenshi hurt one of the soldiers again, so I need to borrow Y/n for a while,” Johnny urgently said. Y/n hastily grabbed her med kit and ran after Johnny, who was already running as soon as he was done with his announcement.
Awkward silence engulfed the greenhouse, and for the first time in their lives, they found themselves uncomfortable around one another. Kung Lao turned his chair to tinker with the various items scattered around Y/n's workspace, while Raiden stood beside him, admiring the plant anatomy diagrams on a chalkboard hanging above her desk. He couldn't help but notice a picture frame on the desk, which held another photo of Y/n and Kung Lao.
"Wow, she did all this by herself?" Raiden inquired, hoping to engage in a conversation with his best friend. Kung Lao finally smiled and nodded, his curiosity piqued regarding Y/n's interests. The two friends began to chat about Y/n, and Raiden felt relieved to be able to spend time with one of his closest friends. It was as if nothing had changed between them, and he cherished the feeling, even if it was only fleeting.t.
“You know, I was thinking of asking her out,” Kung Lao blurted out. Raiden froze in his tracks, wondering if he had misheard. Did Kung Lao mean that in a friendly way or romantically? Raiden's gaze shifted to Kung Lao, who sat there holding a precious piece of jewellery. He immediately recognized it as Kung Lao's mother's ring, the same ring that had been used by Kung Lao's father for his proposal. The sight of the ring in Kung Lao's hand added to the complexity of the situation, leaving Raiden with even more uncertainty and mixed emotions.
“Like as in… friends?” he asked hopefully, preferring the thought of Kung Lao approaching Y/n for friendship rather than a romantic relationship. Kung Lao's face contorted in a brief frown, and he stood to face Raiden directly.
“No, Raiden. I mean as a couple. Y/n is perfect, and she deserves to live a happy life, don’t you think?” Kung Lao questioned with a strained tone. Raiden's mind raced with thoughts of the potential consequences of his two closest friends becoming romantically involved. Would they leave him behind? Could Kung Lao care for Y/n properly? How would their relationship affect him if they married? He was spiralling but his friend's hand on his shoulder snapped him out of it while asking if he was okay.
“You can’t do that,” Raiden blurted out unintentionally, cursing himself internally for not expressing his feelings more tactfully. He observed the swift change in Kung Lao's demeanour, noticing how his friend's breathing quickened, and his fists clenched involuntarily. He held his guard up, prepared for a confrontation.
“Why not?” Kung Lao questioned, his face betraying a sense of confusion and mounting anger. Raiden scrambled to find excuses to dissuade Kung Lao from pursuing a romantic relationship with Y/n, fearing the impact on their friendship.
“Because the three of us have always been friends. That's the way it's always been! I don't want that to change," Raiden tried to reason with his friend. However, it appeared that Kung Lao was unwilling to listen, and his frustration only grew. Kung Lao scrutinised Raiden and then returned his attention to the ring he held in his hand.
“Raiden, I don’t want to fight you because you’re my brother. But what I do with Y/n is my business,” Kung Lao declared, managing to calm his emotions. He gathered his belongings and made his way to the exit, but before leaving, he turned back to Raiden.
"It's not my place to tell you this, but our friendship changed years ago," he remarked before leaving. Raiden stood there, feeling worse than ever, a whirlwind of questions spinning through his mind. What did Kung Lao mean by that?

Herbs & Hearts (pt. 4)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
It was finally time for the tournament. Even though she was not an Earthrealm champion, Liu Kang insisted that she follow as she was their healer. Y/n hadn’t been able to hang out with Raiden since that night, as her feelings still hurt seeing him, but not being able to jump into his arms. She was packing her bags when she found her diary from her childhood days. She flipped the pages, and all she wrote about was Raiden. How Raiden always saved the day, or bandaged her wounds after training, or how he would always spend time with her to gossip about the villagers over their favourite tea, oolong. One particular page, however, stood out – it was folded and held a small flower hairpin, as though it held a precious memory.
As she unfolded the page and read through it, the memories of that special incident with Raiden came flooding back:
As usual, Y/n was helping Madam Bo at the restaurant. She was on stock duty that day, so she had to work at the loading bay, to make sure all ingredients were transported to their designated area. It was getting late, and she only needed the delivery woman’s signature for the successful delivery of milk. However, after getting her signature, the woman lingered around, trying to make conversation with her. Y/n knew that the woman fancies her, and even though she was quite good looking, she felt that the woman was way older than her and should be with someone who actually reciprocates her feelings.
"C'mon, Y/n. How about a drink? I know you're just 14, but I promise I won't tell your mom," the woman tempted, producing a bottle of liquor from her bag. Y/n took a step back, quickly conjuring excuses to return to work. The woman, however, grabbed her arm and insisted she stay.
“Please, stop that!” Y/n screamed, trying her best to be brave, but she was terrified. Even though madam Bo had taught her how to fight, Y/n froze. She had never fought anyone else except for Raiden and Kung Lao during their training. Y/n felt hopeless when she heard Raiden’s voice. Raiden stood in front of Y/n and threatened the woman. The woman tried to act tough but Y/n could tell by the way her hand trembled when holding her liquor, she was scared. The woman scoffed and walked back to her truck and drove away. With the threat gone, Raiden relaxed and checked on Y/n, ensuring she was unharmed. He pulled her into a comforting hug, and Y/n gratefully accepted it.
From his breast pocket, Raiden retrieved a flowerpin and secured it in Y/n's hair, remarking how well it suited her, given her love for all things botanical. Raiden extended his hand, inviting her to join him.
“Come on, love petal. Madam Bo is cooking lamb soup tonight!” He said, excitement gleamed in his eyes. He walked first, while Y/n followed behind. What he didn’t notice was her flustered face and smile. She was grateful to have Raiden in her life.
-
From that day forward, Y/n's affection for Raiden deepened, evolving from admiration to a subtle crush that gradually blossomed into love. She found herself thinking of him, sneaking glances, and even slipping extra drumsticks into his meals. Despite many opportunities to confess her feelings, hesitance and fear always held her back. But now, the uncertainty of whether she should still pursue Raiden lingered, after his indirect rejection a few weeks earlier. Y/n decided to wear the hairpin, thinking, why not put it to use?
“Little flower, are you ready?” Raiden asked, walking closer while offering to carry her bag for her. Y/n nodded and gave him her bag. As he slung the bag on his shoulder, he noticed the hair pin. His face lit up.
“Oh, I remember that! You still look beautiful with it,” He complimented, his hand reaching out to move her hair out of her face. However, Y/n gently took his hand away from her face and told him that they would be late if they stayed around any longer. She walked out of her room, with Raiden following her. Unbeknownst to her, he wore a disappointed expression on his face, which she failed to notice.
When they arrived at the portal gate, Kung Lao warmly greeted them. He slung his arm around Y/n's shoulder and guided her over to where the rest of their group had gathered. Raiden, meanwhile, strolled over to place Y/n's bag on the trolley. As he returned, he couldn't help but notice the broad smile on Y/n's face, punctuated by her laughter at Kung Lao's playful banter. Raiden also observed Kung Lao's hand resting on Y/n's back, with her subtly leaning in his direction. His frown deepened. Had he missed something important? Attempting to join in on the conversation, he approached the group.
However, Liu Kang chose that moment to announce their imminent departure
“Alright, my plant whisperer, are we ready?” Kung Lao jokes, extending his arm towards Y/n. She chuckled and put her arm and pretended to bow.Their laughter danced between them, but Raiden stood in the background, watching and feeling somewhat left out.
"Plant whisperer?" Raiden inquired aloud, hoping to engage their attention. Kung Lao jumped slightly at the unexpected sound but relaxed when he saw it was just Raiden. He exchanged a glance with Y/n before elaborating on their nickname to his friend.
“Well, it was just an inside joke between us. Besides, you have your nickname, I have mine,” Kung Lao explained before walking with Y/n through the portal. Raiden sighed, realising he's distanced himself from his friends lately. He shook his head, resolving to set aside his concerns. For now, his primary focus was on the impending tournament, and he needed to give it his all.
Y/n leaned against a stone pillar, sulkily nibbling on her sweet potato, which she had purchased from a street food vendor. Her gaze followed the younger princess of Outworld, who was walking alongside Raiden through the bustling festival streets. She couldn't believe it. Raiden had only known the princess for a few hours, and he already seemed smitten. Y/n scoffed inwardly. What did the princess have that she didn't? She was a royal, a formidable warrior, and stunningly beautiful despite her 10,000 years of age. In contrast, Y/n was a simple healer, herbalist, and, at best, a decent cook. Insecurities crept into her mind. Perhaps Raiden would be better off with someone like Kitana. She sighed and glanced down at her partially eaten potato. Thoughts of him left a bitter taste in her mouth, and she had no appetite to finish her meal. She was about to discard it when Kung Lao materialised behind her.
"If you're not going to finish that, you should give it to me," he said, eyeing the remaining potato. She laughed at his playful hunger and, despite her surprise, handed it over. He devoured the snack in mere seconds, leaving Y/n stunned. That couldn't be good for him. She scolded him, lightly rubbing his chest, concerned about his well-being. He responded with a sheepish smile before glancing at Raiden, who was still walking with the princess, and then turning his attention back to Y/n, who had reverted to her forlorn expression.
"You know, jealousy isn't a good look," he remarked, patting her back in an attempt to offer comfort. She managed a weak smile, but he couldn't help feeling sympathy for her.
"Was it really that obvious?" she asked, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her shirt, her embarrassment showing. Kung Lao chuckled.
"Oh, sweetie, I think practically everyone at the academy knows," he said, causing alarm to flicker across her face. He hurriedly reassured her that somehow only Raiden remained oblivious to her affections. She sighed, but the sadness still lingered. She straightened up, wiped away her tears, and informed Kung Lao that she wanted to return to her room. However, Kung Lao had other plans.
"No, Y/n, you deserve so much better. So wipe those tears away, and let me show you how a real man treats a woman," he declared, extending his hand. His heart raced, though he couldn't fathom why. He was merely inviting her to spend time together as friends, so why was he so nervous? Thankfully, she accepted his hand, and together, they ventured off to explore the festival.
Things were going well until the pair spotted Raiden winning a small tiger-like plushie for Kitana. Kung Lao noticed the disappointment on Y/n's face and decided to intervene. He paid the vendor to try his luck and surprisingly succeeded in winning the grandest prize the stall had to offer: a massive horse plushie. The plan worked, as Y/n became completely engrossed with her new prize. She embraced the plushie tightly, and the two of them shared joyous laughter, entirely oblivious to Raiden's envious emotions. Raiden contemplated approaching them to reclaim his "petal," but he remembered the presence of a royal family member and chose to calm himself instead. Kitana engaged him in conversation for a while, further distracting him. Yet when he looked back to find his friends, they had vanished. He sighed and continued walking with the princess, but his thoughts were firmly tethered to Y/n.

Herbs & Hearts (Pt.3)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
For several months, the Earthrealm Champions diligently trained under the guidance of Lord Liu Kang in preparation for the upcoming tournament. Y/n occasionally joined them to practise her unique powers and martial arts skills, but most of her time was spent in the medical room, tending to injuries, or nurturing her beloved garden and herbs in her greenhouse. Despite her ability to manipulate plants with her powers, she found solace in watching the plants grow naturally into beautiful flowers and herbs.
In her role as the academy's healer, she had become acquainted with many familiar faces who sought her care, including Raiden, despite his cautious and careful nature. Every time he visited, her hands would tremble, and sometimes she would even drop the needles she was carrying. However, everything went smoothly until one fateful night.
Y/n was in the process of cleaning up a particularly gruesome mess on her operating table when she heard three soft knocks on her door. Recognizing the pattern of knocks, she smiled to herself and welcomed Raiden inside. As per their usual routine, he took a seat and began to recount what had happened during his training. Y/n nodded and proceeded to prepare the necessary medical supplies to tend to his injuries.
During a moment of silence, she decided to break the tension. "So, is there anyone at the academy who catches your eye?" she asked. Raiden, typically oblivious, initially shrugged, indicating that he didn't understand her question. Y/n attempted to clarify, "We have some exceptionally skilled female warriors. I heard that Silas graduated at the top of her class."
Upon hearing this, Raiden smiled as if recalling a cherished memory. "Oh, yes. She's a formidable warrior, but I'm not particularly interested in her," he replied.
"Oh?" Y/n inquired further, smiling to herself.
"In fact, I'm not really interested in anyone. Being Liu Kang's champion means I have to stay focused and perform well. I can't afford to waste my time on a relationship," Raiden explained.
"Oh." She was conflicted, her smile slowly fading, feeling a mixture of relief and disappointment. She knew Raiden wasn't interested in anyone, which was good, but it was also because he didn't want to be in a relationship. She contemplated their interactions, the precious moments they had shared, and how he didn't feel anything beyond friendship for her.
Thankfully, she concealed her feelings, realising that being his friend was enough for her. Raiden finished getting patched up, gave her a hug with his non-injured arm, and kissed her on the head, expressing his gratitude. Y/n, unlike her usual gushing self, simply waved goodbye. Once he left, she slumped in her chair, reflecting on their conversation.
"That was tough to watch," a familiar voice remarked, jolting Y/n from her thoughts. Startled, she leaped to her feet, raising her fists, and her nearby vines prepared to defend them. However, it was only Kuai Liang, her second favourite Lin Kuei brother.
"Kuai Liang, what brings you here?" she inquired, swiftly clearing away the medical tools used to treat Raiden. He turned around and displayed a wound he had sustained. "I got stabbed," he mentioned casually, as if such occurrences were an everyday affair. Y/n, on the other hand, promptly ushered him to the operating table to begin the surgery. She asked further questions on how he had managed to get such a wound and it turns out that Bi-han had stabbed him using his powers during the training. Whether it was on purpose or accident, that question remains a mystery.
As she operated on him, she noticed that he seemed tense, as though he were hesitant to inquire about something. He eventually broached the subject, asking about her relationship with Raiden. However, before he could delve deeper, Y/n interjected, assuring him that he didn't need to discuss it.
“I understand,” Kuai Liang concurred, and a comfortable silence enveloped the room.
Once the surgery was completed, Kuai Liang sat up, thanked her for her care, and prepared to leave. Y/n, expecting him to depart, began tidying up her tools. However, he remained seated, his eyes never leaving her.
"Is there anything else you need my attention for?" she inquired, taking her seat at the table. Kauai Liang stood, took a seat opposite her, and placed his hands over her, surprising Y/n with his actions. She was bewildered, wondering if he had been drinking.
"Y/n, you've been my sparring partner since our childhood. We've been through thick and thin, grown up together, and I've always seen you as my little sister. You've always been there for me when I've been hurt, and I intend to do the same for you. If you ever need me, my door is always open," he said, in a tone they had never expected from the Lin Kuei brother. A warm sensation spread through her chest and face, and she prayed he wouldn't notice her blush. She humbly lowered her head to express her gratitude.
"But that doesn't mean you can drop by anytime. I still value my personal space," Kauai Liang added, which elicited a laugh from Y/n. She shook her head and encouraged him to return to his quarters, emphasising the need for him to rest to ensure his wound healed properly. She then packed up their belongings for the night and retired to her own room.
Despite the motivating and surprising words from Kuai Liang, Y/n couldn't shake her preoccupation with Raiden's sentiments. She sighed and lay back down to sleep, her thoughts still swirling.

Herbs & Hearts (Pt.2)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
The trio finished their meal, with Y/n eventually joining them after a heated argument with Madam Bo, who believed she shouldn't be working in her injured state. Raiden was in the midst of settling the bill when their meal was abruptly interrupted by a silver-haired man donning a mask. Several others dressed similarly loomed menacingly behind him, unsettling both Madam Bo and her patrons.
"Madam Bo, the Lin Kuei awaits your answer," the man stated, approaching the restaurant owner, who claimed her busy schedule as her excuse and walked away, the man following her.
"The Lin Kuei? Y/n, who are they?" Raiden inquired, but Y/n didn't respond. Instead, she rose from her seat and headed over to her mother, ready to assist the elderly woman in case things took a dangerous turn. Raiden attempted to stand up as well but was forcefully pushed back into his seat by Kung Lao. Confusion and concern etched across Raiden's face.
"What are you doing? We need to help her!" he insisted, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on their female friend. Kung Lao shook his head.
"Let's not act hastily. A single misstep could jeopardise many lives," Kung Lao advised, displaying a rare sense of rationality in their friendship. Reluctantly, Raiden sighed and nodded in agreement, aligning with his best friend's level-headed approach.
"What's the plan, then?" he inquired. Kung Lao leaned back in his chair, speaking in hushed tones, "Stay prepared." They turned their attention back to Madam Bo and Y/n, who were still striving to defuse the escalating situation.
“Madam Bo, it's a simple choice. Pay for our protection, or risk harm to this fine establishment," the man menacingly threatened. Madam Bo, however, stood her ground, unwavering in the face of the ultimatum. The man was having none of it and signalled to his accomplices. The men started wreaking havoc, causing chaos and panic as patrons desperately fled the restaurant. Madam Bo engaged in a fierce battle with the man, while Y/n did her best to lead the innocent bystanders to safety.
Madam Bo fought ferociously, but the attacker was younger and more robust, flipping her over and causing her to fall. Y/n cried out for her mother and attacked the man in a desperate attempt to protect her. Raiden and Kung Lao leaped to their feet, determined to assist, but their path was blocked when plants from all corners of the restaurant began to grow rapidly. Y/n, with remarkable skill, manipulated the plants with her hands, causing them to swiftly ensnare the man, rendering him immobilised. She turned to the boys, offering a reassuring nod. In shock, the boys couldn't stop gawking at what had just happened.
"Go and help my mother. I'll be fine," she assured them. However, a cloud of smoke began to envelop her, making it increasingly difficult for Raiden and Kung Lao to see her. Reluctantly, they had no choice but to trust Y/n and heed her advice, rushing to confront the other hostile men. They were stopped by yet another enigmatic stranger, this one dressed in blue attire. He unleashed icy projectiles at them, but the boys managed to evade the attacks.
"Freeze where you stand," the man ordered, his voice carrying a weight of authority. Another figure, clad in yellow and wielding a weapon, entered the fight. Raiden and Kung Lao quickly agreed to take on one opponent each, and before long, their adversaries were defeated. They rushed over to check on the unconscious Madam Bo, while Y/n, still alive but in pain, lay just a few metres away, groaning.
As they attended to Madam Bo, the woman woke up with an astonishing level of cheerfulness, as if she hadn't just fallen from the second floor and crashed onto a table. The boys were perplexed, but their attention was diverted when the silver-haired man approached Y/n. Raiden and Kung Lao swiftly returned to their positions, ready for another confrontation. However, the man's words left them bewildered.
"Sorry for destroying your plants, Y/n," he apologised while extending a hand to her. Y/n laughed and shook her head, accepting his gesture and standing up.
"It's alright, Tomas. You know I also grew them back at the academy," she reassured him, and Tomas hugged her before rejoining his companions. Another man, muscular and cloaked, approached Madam Bo. Despite his imposing presence, the boys sensed a gentle side to him, evident in his manners and smile.
"Madam Bo, are they ready?" The man inquired. He introduced himself as Lord Liu Kang, the God of Fire and the Protector of Earthrealm. He went on to explain to the boys that the entire encounter had been a test of their character and abilities, aimed at determining their suitability to become his champions. He then introduced the Lin Kuei brothers, Bi Han, Kuai Liang, and Tomas, whom they had been pitted against.
With some clarity finally dawning on them, the boys had questions, especially about Y/n. Raiden asked, "Is Y/n a Lin Kuei too?" At the mention of her name, Y/n stepped forward to stand proudly beside the Lin Kuei brothers, flanking Lord Liu Kang.
"No, but Y/n possesses an extraordinary gift—the gift of flora. I knew that Madam Bo wouldn't be able to teach her how to harness it, so I specifically sent her to my academy to mentor her," Liu Kang explained, placing a hand on her shoulder, conveying his pride. "And tonight, she performed exceptionally."
Raiden connected the dots, saying, "So, all your 'trips' to find exotic plants..." He trailed off as Y/n confirmed his theory. His frown was replaced by his trademark warm smile, melting her heart once more.
"That would explain why the harvests would always flourish under your care," Raiden observed, earning a smile from Y/n. However, Liu Kang interrupted the tender moment by extending an invitation to the boys, asking them to join him as champions. After some persuasion, both Raiden and Kung Lao eventually accepted his offer.
That night, they bid farewell to Fengjian, prepared to leave their old lives behind and embrace their new roles as protectors of Earthrealm under the guidance of Lord Liu Kang.

Herbs & Hearts (pt.1)
Raiden x f!reader
Tumblr media
Raiden and Kung Lao entered Madam Bo's restaurant, instantly greeted by a delightful medley of sweet and savoury smells emanating from the kitchen where Madam Bo worked her culinary magic. They were welcomed by the owner herself, who guided them to their usual table, the spot where they often hung out.
As usual, they playfully argued over who would be picking up the tab for their meal. After this spirited exchange, they stood up in an open area to engage in a friendly martial arts match. Their battle was intense, but in the end, Kung Lao emerged as the winner. His celebration, however, led to an accident when he bumped into a waiter carrying a bowl of noodles, causing the food to go airborne.
The whole restaurant fell silent, anticipating a mess, but from the kitchen, a figure swiftly emerged, wearing a farmer's hat and the familiar restaurant's apron. With incredible dexterity, this person skillfully caught the flying food and restored it to the tray, as if the accident never occurred. The customers, initially holding their breath, broke into applause. The restaurant quickly returned to its usual bustling activity, with the incident soon forgotten.
Raiden and Kung Lao couldn't contain their curiosity and approached the mysterious saviour. When the figure looked up, they immediately recognized her as Y/n, their childhood friend. Y/n was the adopted daughter of Madam Bo, the chef of the restaurant. Madam Bo had found Y/n as a baby, abandoned at her doorstep with nothing but a tattered cloth to protect her frail body. There were stories circulating that suggested divine intervention, as some believed that gods had descended from the heavens to save her. These tales led some superstitious parents in the neighbourhood to warn their children to be cautious around Y/n, fearing that they might inadvertently offend these mysterious deities and bring about a curse.
However, it was only Raiden who immediately welcomed Y/n as a friend. Kung Lao, on the other hand, needed some convincing, but as the years passed, he too grew to love Y/n, not only as a friend but also for her exceptional fighting skills. The trio grew up together and trained martial arts under Madam Bo, forging a strong and enduring bond.
Y/n smiled at them and continued serving customers. The two friends couldn't contain their joy and embraced Y/n. The boys were aware of Y/n's deep passion for plants and her fascination with studying various herbs. She was often found in her room, conducting experiments and nurturing her own herbs. This love for botanical pursuits led her to embark on journeys in search of herbs that she insisted couldn't be found in the village.
Initially, the boys expressed concern and offered to accompany her on these trips, but Y/n politely declined their assistance. Madam Bo, too, advised them not to accompany Y/n, encouraging her independence. In order to avoid upsetting the wise elder woman, the boys eventually accepted and let Y/n pursue her herb-hunting adventures on her own.
"Y/n, when did you come back? We've missed you!" Kung Lao said, affectionately pinching her cheeks. The female laughed at his actions and put her hands over his to get him away from her cheeks.
"I got back this morning. Mother told me to rest, but you know I can't just sit still for too long," Y/n replied as she picked up a tray of food from the kitchen and resumed serving the customers, with the boys trailing behind her. As she went about her tasks, Raiden couldn't help but notice the bandage on her left foot and her slight limp when she walked.
"What happened to your foot?" he inquired. Setting the food on a table, Y/n turned to face them, a touch perplexed at first, but then realising what he was referring to.
"Oh, I just ran into a bit of trouble during my journey," she nonchalantly shrugged. However, seeing their worried expressions, she swiftly reassured them that she had managed the situation. Kung Lao offered a hearty chuckle and cheered for her, while Raiden could only shake his head, sighing in concern.
Y/n felt a slight disappointment in his reaction, but her spirits lifted when he smiled at her. He gently placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled her close to his chest.
"Well, as long as you come back in one piece, love petal," he whispered, kissing her head. Y/n returned the hug and turned her head away to hide the growing blush on her face. Kung Lao let out an exaggerated scoff and rolled his eyes before heading back to their table. The duo then parted ways and joined each other at their table, ready to relish their meal and dive into a conversation about Y/n's recent adventures.

A/n: I am so sorry for the late post. Too many things were happening but I'm okay now! :)
Tumblr media
When the boat arrived back at the docks, Jobe was greeted by his family with open arms. Y/n chuckled at his excited antics, still finding it amusing that the once rude tourist she disliked had become the person she now loved. But her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a high-pitched, annoying voice calling out for Jobe.
“Yoohoo! Hey pookie-mookie, mushy-bushy booboo bear!” The voice rang out, and Y/n couldn't help but cringe at the loudness. She wondered if she could be hired as an emergency alarm with a voice like that.
The owner of the voice ran towards Jobe and jumped into his arms. They seemed to be acting like a couple, and for a moment, Y/n's heart sank. But then she noticed Jobe gently pushing the girl away, which gave her a glimmer of hope.
“Booboo bear?” Y/n said, approaching Jobe and the girl with curiosity. Jobe seemed nervous, as if he had been caught red-handed. He took a deep breath before introducing the girl to Y/n.
“Y/n, this is Ella, my girlfriend,” Jobe said, and Y/n felt like her world was crashing down. The words cut through her heart like a knife. All the adventures and experiences they had shared over the last 10 days now felt like a painful reminder of what could have been. She felt betrayed, as if all her hard work, her boat, and her money had been in vain since meeting Jobe.
Anger surged inside her, and she struggled to contain it. In that moment, she wanted to hurt the couple, to make them feel the pain she was experiencing. But she managed to compose herself, avoiding shaking Ella's outstretched hand and instead choosing to leave the docks with her belongings.
As she walked away, she couldn't help but hope that Jobe would come after her, to explain or make things right. But he didn't. Fucking coward.
-
A week had passed since Jobe's return to London, and his tale of being stranded on an island had become a global sensation, thanks to Emma's penchant for making things a big deal, despite Jobe's desire to keep it quiet. While the Bellingham family had settled back into their routine, Jude couldn't help but notice a change in Jobe's demeanour. Sensing an opportunity to talk, Jude entered his brother's room without any announcement or knocking, causing Jobe to startle slightly before resuming his cleaning.
“So... Y/n,” Jude began, noting the tension that immediately gripped his younger brother at the mere mention of her name. Jobe continued his tasks without facing Jude, his unease palpable. After a few minutes of silence, Jobe let out a sigh and turned to lean against his table.
“What about her?”
Jude observed his brother's posture and could sense the inner turmoil he was going through. He didn't want to push Jobe too hard, but he also knew that sometimes a little nudge could help.
“I mean, both of you seemed pretty close to me. Almost like you were in love, dude,” Jude commented, treading carefully. Jobe remained silent for a while, his expression conflicted. Finally, he looked at Jude, and what his older brother saw in his eyes was a mixture of regret and sadness.
"What do you want me to do?" Jobe's frustration seeped into his words. "We're back in London, and she's all the way out there."
Jude paused, considering his response carefully. "I get it, Jobe. But you shouldn't have started something you couldn't finish." He let his words sink in before continuing, "But let me leave you with this. Do you love Ella, or do you love Y/n?"
Jobe lowered his gaze, lost in his thoughts as he wrestled with the question. Jude sensed that it was a lot for his brother to process at the moment, so he decided to give him space. He walked out of the room, hopeful that their conversation might have helped Jobe sort through his feelings.
As the door closed behind Jude, Jobe was left alone with his thoughts. He leaned against the table, the weight of his choices heavy on his mind. Love was never meant to be easy, and he was beginning to realise the depth of his emotions. The memory of his time with Y/n on the island kept replaying in his mind, juxtaposed against the reality of his life in London.
He knew he had a decision to make, one that would shape not only his own future but also the lives of those he cared about. He silently wished that there would be someone or something to guide him to make the right decision.
A few nights later, Jobe found himself at the restaurant Ella favored. Although it wasn't his preferred choice, he concealed his displeasure, as was his usual practice. The couple perused the menus, with Jobe already aware that Ella would order her usual steak, while he would opt for the salad and the soup of the day. It was still football season, and he needed to maintain his diet.
Sipping on his sparkling juice, Jobe was taken aback when the waiter approached their table. To his surprise, the waiter turned out to be Y/n, dressed in the restaurant's attire, holding a notebook and a pen. Shocked, he accidentally swallowed his juice, causing him to choke. Y/n rushed to his aid, helping him recover. When he glanced at her again, she seemed to have transformed, her appearance entirely different.
“Oh my god, pookie-wookie, are you okay?” Ella exclaimed as she hurried to his side, assisting him. Once he had regained his composure, he looked at her and was even more astonished. Outside the restaurant, by the bus stop, he spotted Y/n dressed as a salesperson, selling balloons to children. A bus arrived and departed, leaving behind a muscular man who had now transformed into a balloon animal artist.
Returning his focus to the dinner table, Ella tried to lift his spirits with silly faces, though it only made him cringe internally. Jobe assured Ella that he was fine, and they continued waiting for their meal. Suddenly, the host announced that the live band would perform a song. Jobe paid no attention until he heard the name of the song. The singer began performing a song called 'Y/n.'
“Has there always been a song like this?” Jobe pondered. Initially filled with anger and aggression, the song suddenly shifted to a softer melody, mirroring his rollercoaster experience with Y/n. The entire dinner was consumed by thoughts and emotions connected to Y/n, a feeling Jobe despised. He tried to figure out how to broach the topic with Ella, but her question caught him off guard.
“Who’s the girl?” Ella inquired, not looking away from her food. Jobe attempted to deflect the question, but her intense gaze demanded an answer. “How did you know?”
“Jobe, I’m not oblivious. Men wear a certain look when they're deeply in love, and you've never worn that look with me. But when I saw you with that village girl on the boat, you were practically glowing with love. I was a bit hurt, but I saw this coming. I thought maybe I could break through your tough, aloof exterior, but it seems someone else did it first,” Ella remarked. Jobe was speechless, not expecting such a response. He struggled to find the words, but Ella interjected.
“It's okay, Jobe. I forgive you. Just promise me you'll take care of her. Be a better man. Don’t treat her the way you treated me. Every person deserves happiness. Now go, before I change my mind,” Ella said with a smile. Jobe smiled back, grateful for Ella's understanding. He hugged her and settled the bill before heading home. Ella shook her head and returned to her own residence.
On his way home, Jobe contemplated Ella’s words. 'Don’t treat her the way you treated me.' Had he truly mistreated her? He made a mental note to express his gratitude to Ella properly. She deserved a farewell that wasn't merely a breakup during dinner. He set that note aside as he focused on his plan. All he hoped for was that Y/n would still want to be with him.
Y/n was in the midst of sweeping the resort's pool area, boredom settling in. Stuck in the village with no money, Jobe had returned home with his girlfriend, a word that left a bitter taste in her mouth. She felt betrayed and embarrassed, realizing that he had used her for entertainment due to the village's limited offerings. Her irritation grew when someone called her name repeatedly. She swept the floor aggressively, but the caller persisted. Finally, she turned around.
“Listen, sir, I'm a very busy woman, so if you could please go awa—” her words trailed off as she locked eyes with the last person she expected to see: Jobe Bellingham, standing with a small bag, his brother sipping a pina colada nearby.
“Too busy even for me?” he quipped, offering a faint smile. Y/n walked slowly towards him and, when close enough, slapped him across the face. Jobe, although taken aback, understood he deserved it.
“Okay, I deserved that,” he admitted.
Y/n quickly pulled him into a kiss, their arms wrapping around each other naturally, as if they were meant to be. When they broke apart, Jobe wore a wide grin. “Okay, I deserved that too,” Y/n chuckled.
“Shut up,” she whispered before kissing him again. Their passion ignited once more, and Jobe's brother, Jude, disgusted, walked away to give them some privacy. Jobe then remembered something and handed her the small bag. “For you.”
Curious, Y/n opened the bag and found it filled with money. She gasped and quickly zipped it closed, casting a cautious glance around.
“Jobe, what is this?” she whispered.
“You told me you wanted to leave this island. Because of me, you lost all your money. Now, I get to help you. You can finally start a new life, with me, in London,” Jobe declared enthusiastically. Although Y/n had worries etched on her face, she smiled and nodded. Jobe's heart swelled with happiness, and they shared another passionate kiss.
Y/n made her way to the waiting car where Jobe was already waiting. He helped load her bags and held her close once he was done. “Are you ready?”
Y/n gazed back at the resort, where the staff waved their farewells. She saw the manager and told Jobe to wait for a moment. She ran to the manager, and they shared a heartfelt hug, tears streaming down their faces. Afterward, she returned to the car. With one final goodbye, Y/n entered the car with Jobe, her heart a mix of anxiety and excitement as they set off to begin their new life together in London.

A/n: this series is ending soon
Tumblr media
It was the day the Bellinghams were supposed to leave, but Jobe was nowhere to be found. Panic spread throughout the family, and Jude, his older brother, blamed himself for not keeping better track of him. However, Denise and Marc Bellingham knew they shouldn't place the blame on Jude. After all, he had to focus on his training for Madrid, and they themselves had been occupied with their own travel plans.
The resort manager was quickly informed, and he mobilised his staff to search for Jobe all over the resort and the nearby village. The manager also noticed that Y/n, a young woman whom Jobe had grown close to during their vacation, was not present and tried to contact her repeatedly. However, Y/n didn't answer her phone, leaving him to assume that she was probably still asleep.
News of Jobe's disappearance spread like wildfire throughout the village, and the tight-knit community rallied together to help with the search. The Bellinghams were touched and relieved to know that they weren't alone in this distressing situation.
As hours passed, the weight of uncertainty bore heavily on Denise's shoulders. She couldn't help but feel that their efforts might be in vain. Sitting in the resort lobby, she covered her face with her hands, the anxiety and worry consuming her thoughts. She was on the verge of thinking the worst when the resort manager came running toward them. Denise stood up, hope creeping into her heart. "Did you find him?"
The manager's face carried a mix of relief and concern. "Not yet, but we did find something. One of the villagers checked Y/n’s house and found out that she went fishing yesterday. Let's go to the docks now!" he said urgently and rushed to his car. The Bellinghams followed closely behind, their hearts pounding with worry.
When they reached the docks, Y/n's boat was nowhere in sight. They frantically asked the local fishermen if they had seen Y/n or Jobe. One of them recalled seeing them heading towards the island yesterday. The resort manager let out an exasperated sigh. Despite the storm warning issued the day before, he knew Y/n well enough to realize that she might have ventured out into the sea regardless.
He swiftly instructed his staff to set up a boat, ready to head out into the ocean to search for them. However, Denise couldn't bear the thought of waiting helplessly on the shore. "Hey! Let us come too!" she shouted over the loud engine.
The manager hesitated, concerned about putting more people at risk, especially tourists. He tried to persuade Denise not to go, but her desperation and determination were evident. It took Marc and Jude to hold her back from jumping into the boat. Finally, Denise relented and sat on the bench situated near the docks, her eyes fixed on the boat as it departed into the sea. Marc and Jude sat on either side of her, providing comfort and support.
In their anxious wait for their safe return, they heard a familiar voice behind them calling for them. Turning around, they saw a figure waving excitedly.
"Oh, shit," Jude uttered, recognising the figure.
-
Jobe woke up early, following his athlete schedule, and gently roused Y/n from her slumber. They decided to sit by the shore, their feet touching the ocean waves, and watched the sun rise together. As the warm rays of light painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, Y/n couldn't help but ponder the changes in her life since she met Jobe. She felt a mix of happiness and apprehension, knowing that their time together might be limited.
While sitting there with him, a question gnawed at the back of her mind: Is this what love is? Her heart fluttered at the thought, realizing how deeply she had come to care for Jobe in such a short time. Yet, that joy was tinged with a sense of sorrow as she remembered that he was a foreigner and couldn't stay on the island forever.
Sensing her troubled thoughts, Jobe nudged her gently with his arm wrapped around her. "What's wrong?" he asked, genuine concern evident in his voice and expression.
Y/n hesitated for a moment, her emotions conflicting within her. Then she sat up, facing him seriously, wanting to have an honest conversation. Taking a deep breath, she brought up the topic that had been weighing heavily on her heart.
"Isn’t today the day you go back home?" she inquired, trying to remain composed. His reaction was immediate, and she could see realization wash over his face, followed by a frown. The silence between them was uncomfortable, and Y/n's heart sank further as she feared the inevitable end to their time together.
But then, in a surprising turn of events, Jobe's eyes widened, and his face lit up with happiness. He stood up, grabbing a large banana leaf and waving it around like a maniac. Y/n couldn't quite comprehend what was happening. Had Jobe lost his mind after just one night on the island with her?
Her confusion cleared when she followed his gaze and saw the brightly colored boat of one of the local fishermen approaching. To her surprise, her manager and some of the resort staff were on board. Y/n couldn't contain her laughter and excitement, waving her hands to catch their attention.
Jobe's exuberance was contagious, and he couldn't contain his joy. He grabbed Y/n by the shoulders to make her face him, showering her with kisses all over her face. Y/n laughed, knowing her manager had probably seen that display and would surely lecture her later.
Overwhelmed with happiness, Jobe spun her around and pulled her into a tight embrace, momentarily making her forget about the bittersweet reality of the day. In that moment, all that mattered was the joy they felt and the connection they had found with each other on this island.
As the boat finally reached them, Y/n's manager and the staff were relieved to see her safe and sound. But it was clear that they were also taken aback by the obvious affection between Y/n and Jobe.
Gathering their belongings, they all climbed onto the boat, ready to return to the resort and the world they had known before. The journey back was filled with laughter, stories, and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of this island and the unforgettable memories they had created.

A/n: hehe sorry i’m late...
Tumblr media
Over the course of the next three days, Jobe rarely left Y/n's side, eager to spend as much time with her as possible. He accompanied her on errands and found ways to be together even when she had work at the resort. Gradually, Y/n began to open up, genuinely interested in the stories Jobe shared about his life in England. Jobe initially worried that he was talking too much, but he soon realised that Y/n enjoyed hearing about his experiences. Encouraged by her interest, he eagerly continued sharing more tales. However, Y/n remained guarded when it came to her own family, indicating a topic she wasn't yet ready to delve into. Although this saddened Jobe to some extent, he found solace in the genuine friendship they had forged during his vacation.
On the ninth day, Jobe couldn't find Y/n anywhere. He searched for her at the house, but she wasn't there. He then went to the resort, but she was nowhere to be found. Determined to locate her, Jobe approached the townspeople and even denied a game of football, a choice he never thought he would make. Through his inquiries, he discovered that Y/n was at the docks, preparing for a week-long fishing trip. Curiosity sparked within Jobe as he noticed the words 'Captain Kai' painted on the side of the boat. Although he briefly pondered the meaning behind it, his primary focus remained on finding Y/n.
Arriving at the docks, Jobe spotted Y/n setting up the boat for departure. He couldn't help but tease her, a playful smile on his face. Y/n stepped away from her task, responding with a genuine smile that immediately brightened Jobe's mood. He was relieved to see her in good spirits.
Y/n expressed her uncertainty about whether Jobe would want to join her, considering that fishing could be boring at times. Jobe, smitten and eager for any opportunity to be with her, couldn't resist a charming response. "How could I resist, love? Besides, any time I spend with you isn't boring. I'd spend a whole day fishing just for you," he slyly remarked, seizing the moment to win her heart. Y/n rolled her eyes playfully but couldn't hide the small smile that graced her face.
Jobe climbed aboard the boat, lending a hand to Y/n as they prepared for their fishing expedition. Once they were both ready, they set off, venturing deeper into the vast ocean.
 -
They had been out at sea for two hours, and a palpable tension hung between them. It was evident that both Jobe and Y/n harboured feelings for each other, yet neither had made a move. Despite numerous opportunities to express their emotions, like when Y/n patiently taught Jobe how to handle the bait or the fish hook, he found himself paralyzed by nerves each time he considered confessing his feelings. Jobe's frustration with himself grew, while Y/n appeared content with the status quo.
As the day progressed, Jobe thought it couldn't get any worse, but he was mistaken. The sky darkened, and the rain began to drizzle, quickly escalating into a torrential downpour. The once-calm waves transformed into monstrous mini-tsunamis, filling Jobe with terror. He was gripped with a fear of death, especially without having the chance to reveal his true feelings to Y/n.
The fierce rain left them with no choice but to head back home. However, a crucial rope that held the sail in place broke, leaving Y/n struggling to regain control of the boat. It violently swayed from side to side, nearly tossing them overboard. Lost and disoriented, they were pushed further out into the sea until they stumbled upon another island.
Amidst the chaos, Jobe's mind raced with various scenarios, his fear and inability to act immobilising him. In a sudden twist of events, a wave struck the boat, causing Jobe to lose his balance and hit his head on the railing. His senses faded as he heard Y/n calling out his name.
-
Jobe awoke with a start, his heart pounding in his chest as he tried to make sense of his surroundings. Blinking against the brightness of the morning sun, he realised he was lying on the sand.
Gazing around, Jobe spotted the boat a few feet away, partially damaged from their previous ordeal. His eyes then fell upon Y/n, her back turned as she rummaged through the boat's supplies, her frustration evident in the way she clenched her fists.
Wiping the last traces of sleep from his eyes, Jobe approached her cautiously, unsure of how to address the situation. He knew they had been through a lot, and emotions were bound to run high.
“Shit. shit. shit. Where is it?!” She muttered under her breath.
"Y/n," he called gently, trying not to startle her. She turned around, her face contorted with anger, and Jobe could already sense a confrontation brewing. She jumped down from the boat and ran up to him, her emotions boiling over. Unexpectedly, she gave him a tight slap across the face, leaving him stunned and hurt.
He looked at her in horror, the sting of her hand still lingering on his cheek. She appeared strangely satisfied with what she had done, her eyes blazing with frustration.
“Why did you do that?!” He exclaimed, rubbing his cheek.
She pointed her index finger accusingly and shouted back at him, her voice laced with bitterness. “If it weren't for you, my father’s boat wouldn’t have been broken. We wouldn’t have drifted further into the sea. We wouldn’t be stuck on this godforsaken island!”
Jobe's initial shock was now replaced with a mix of anger and disbelief. He couldn't believe she was blaming him entirely for their predicament. Feeling hurt by her accusation, he decided to stand up for himself.
“My fault?! I’m sorry I can’t control the fucking weather! Besides, the rain was bound to happen. You saw the clouds when we left the port. With or without me on the boat, you would have been stranded!” he retorted, his voice tinged with frustration.
Y/n shook her head, not wanting to admit defeat. She grabbed her knife and walked towards the direction of the woods. Jobe's anger quickly vanished, replaced with fear and anxiety. He didn't want to be left alone, especially on an island where there was no life or civilization.
“Wait! Where are you going?!” Jobe's voice trembled, his concern for her outweighing his anger.
“Anywhere without you!” she shouted back, giving him the finger as she stormed off into the woods.
He decided it would be best to give her space, rather than follow her and escalate the situation further. Alone and uncertain, Jobe looked around, pondering his next move. He knew that staying on the boat was not a viable option for survival, as it was damaged beyond repair. He needed to find a way to make do with what little resources the island had to offer.
As the sun began to set, he collected wood for a fire and scouted for any potential sources of food and water. The island felt desolate and unforgiving, but Jobe knew he had to remain strong and resourceful.
As the night fell, the reality of their situation sank in, and Jobe felt a deep sense of loneliness and regret. He wished he hadn't fought with Y/n, even if her accusation was unfair. He missed her presence and longed for the comfort of companionship.
He sat on the sand, cooking the fishes they had caught earlier that day on the fire that he had made, which made him proud of himself. He looked at the pile of items beside him, Those were some things that he took looted from the boat, things that he felt that can be used or just still brand new. One of the items was a walkie talkie. It still had its battery but Jobe couldn’t reach anyone. He was staring into the sea when he felt a figure beside him. He grabbed a makeshift stick and pointed to the unknown creature.
“Relax, it's just me,” Y/n said, with her hands up. “Nice weapon, Where did you get it from?” She snickered.
“Shut up, it's the only thing that I could do alone” He said as he put away the stick. She chuckled and that made him smile. There was a silence between them and they watched Jobe roast the fish,
“I’m sorry,” Y/n began, “I shouldn’t blame you for bridging you into this mess. It’s just that all my life I’ve been alone and suddenly you came and for the first time in my life, I actually had fun. And then we got stuck here and I’m scared you know? Usually I know what to do but now I’m just lost,”
Jobe listened to her story and he realised that he had never seen her parents before, just that one picture frame at her house when they had first met. Questions popped up in his mind but he wasn’t sure if she was in the right mind to answer them.
“I’m sorry too. It’s okay to be scared. I’m scared too. But we can’t let fear consume us. Right now, we need to find our way out of here,” Jobe said, his voice filled with reassurance and sincerity. Y/n looked over to him, her eyes meeting his, and she could see a glimpse of hope in them.
She smiled to herself, admiring his unwavering determination even in the face of uncertainty. Despite the challenges they had faced, his resolve remained strong, and it gave her a sense of comfort she hadn't expected.
Without a word, she moved closer to him, feeling the warmth of his presence. Y/n leaned gently against his shoulder, and for a moment, she sensed him tensing up. But soon, she felt his body relax, as if he had allowed himself to trust in their connection.
In that quiet moment, under the starlit sky, they found solace in each other's company. The waves crashed softly against the shore, and the crackling of the campfire added a soothing ambiance to the night.
Jobe leaned his head on hers. He can’t believe it. After 9 days or trying, he had finally won her over. He felt a sense of accomplishment. As the night wore on, they shared stories, hopes, and dreams, finding solace in each other's company. The stars twinkled above them, and in the midst of the wilderness, they found a sense of peace and contentment they had never experienced before.
It was already late at night, and both of them were laying side-by-side on a makeshift bed made from extra clothing and fabric. They were looking at stars, something Jobe had rarely seen since living in Britain. Since they were comfortable with each other, Jobe felt that it was the right time to ask the questions that were bothering him since the fight.
"Just now, at the boat, what were you trying to find?" Jobe inquired, his tone cautious, hoping not to evoke any negative emotions again.
Y/n's smile faded slightly, but she seemed willing to share this time. "Remember that day when you asked me to go out, and I went on that errand without taking you inside the shop? I was actually selling most of my belongings. I've been saving money to find a way off this island," she explained.
Jobe's frown deepened. "What about your parents?" he asked, genuinely curious about her past.
"My family died in a wildfire when I was young. That's when the resort manager took me in, and I've been working at the resort ever since. There's no reason for me to stay on this island. You saw it for yourself; the village has almost nothing, except for that resort," Y/n shared, her voice tinged with a mix of sadness and determination.
However, Jobe felt compelled to disagree. "That's where you're wrong. The village does have something special, a hidden gem," he said with a soft smile.
Y/n frowned, intrigued, and asked him what it was. "It's you," Jobe said, causing Y/n to burst into laughter.
"You are so corny," she teased.
"Yeah, but I made you laugh, didn’t I?" Jobe responded with a playful grin, and they both laughed together, sitting up on the sand.
Their shared moment of laughter brought them closer together. Jobe's hand instinctively found its way to her cheek, and he gently pulled her face towards his. Their lips met in a sweet, tender kiss, and for a moment, the world around them disappeared. It felt as if they were made for each other, their connection deepening with each passing second.
After a while, they separated, catching their breath, but their hands remained entwined. Y/n smiled, her eyes shining with affection. "You're a better kisser than I expected," she admitted, and Jobe couldn't help but chuckle.
"Is that so?" he replied with a playful glint in his eye.
They lay back down together, finding comfort in each other's embrace as they drifted off to sleep. Under the starlit sky, on the isolated island, Jobe and Y/n discovered a love that felt destined, a love that bloomed amidst the challenges and uncertainties they faced.

A/n: Here is a longer chapter, while you shall starve for part 5.
Tumblr media
The next day, as the early morning sun cast a golden glow over the beach, Jobe strolled along the sandy shore once again. As he approached the beach house, he caught sight of Y/n diligently cleaning the exterior, a determined expression on her face. A warm smile tugged at the corners of his lips, appreciating her hard work. Wanting to announce his presence, he coughed softly as he reached the front steps.
Y/n turned at the sound and a brief smile flickered across her face. However, upon realising it was Jobe, a scowl swiftly replaced the smile. Disheartened, Jobe understood that winning her over wouldn't be easy. Undeterred, he positioned himself in front of her, causing her to pause in her sweeping. As she looked up at him, Jobe couldn't help but notice how adorable she appeared, despite her initial hostility. He quickly refocused his thoughts on what he had come to say.
"Bring me out," Jobe requested with a playful tone, hoping to catch her off guard.
Confused, Y/n furrowed her brow. "What do you mean? Like... on a date?" she asked hesitantly, unsure of his intentions.
Jobe chuckled, trying to alleviate her nervousness. "No, not a date. I'm just bored and in need of some fun. And it seems like you know your way around here. Perhaps you can show me the ropes?"
Amused by her nervous reaction, Jobe decided to playfully tease her. He took a slow step towards her, causing Y/n to retreat until her back met the wall. Leaning casually against the wall, Jobe raised his arm, flexing his developing muscles in a lighthearted display.
"Unless... you want to make this a date," he purred, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Y/n's mouth hung open in surprise, clearly unaccustomed to his playful advances. Her face turned as red as a tomato, and in her flustered state, she used the end of the broom to hit his calf. Jobe yelped in pain, hopping away and rubbing his leg.
Y/n quickly darted inside the house, attempting to shut the door, but Jobe's quick reflexes intervened. He halted the door's movement with his foot, interlacing his hands in a pleading gesture.
"Please, let me come with you. I promise I won't be a hassle. I'll keep quiet, I swear. I’ll pay you even!" Jobe pleaded, noticing a flicker of softness in Y/n's eyes before her frown returned. She hesitated momentarily, her body relaxing, revealing that she had given in.
"How much?" she asked. Jobe cheered in his head, finally getting her attention.
“As much as you want. I have money,” He answered, showing her the black card he has. Perks of a celebrity. He could see that Y/n was contemplating but she slowly nodded. “Fine, let me get ready”
And with that, the door closes. Jobe couldn't contain his excitement, a sense of victory filling him. Although his plan to charm her hadn't gone as expected, he didn't mind. Waiting patiently on the steps, he contemplated the endless possibilities of fun activities they could do together, his mind racing with anticipation.
-
Throughout the day, Jobe had been shadowing Y/n like a lost baby animal, constantly seeking her attention. At first, Y/n found this behaviour annoying and refused to engage with him. However, as the hours passed, she slowly started to warm up to his presence, engaging in small conversations from time to time. Nevertheless, Y/n didn't hesitate to scold Jobe whenever necessary, making it clear that his actions were not always welcome.
As the day progressed, the vibrant hues of sunrise gradually transformed into the gentle colours of sunset. Y/n had one last task to complete, and it seemed to hold a sense of secrecy that intrigued Jobe. Unlike earlier instances when he accompanied her into various shops, this time Y/n requested Jobe to wait outside. Uncertain of the nature of her errand, Jobe complied, patiently standing outside the shop. However, as time ticked by, boredom quickly settled in. His phone had died, leaving him with no means of entertainment or communication. Additionally, he wasn't even sure if the locals spoke English, further isolating him in this unfamiliar place.
Staring into the captivating scenery before him, Jobe's attention was suddenly drawn to the sound of children's laughter. Curious, he turned his gaze and discovered a group of kids merrily tossing a ball among themselves. They seemed to be immersed in their own game, devoid of any rules or objectives. A mischievous idea sparked in Jobe's mind, and a sly smirk formed on his face. Determined to alleviate his boredom, he decided to approach the children and put his plan into action.
-
Y/n sighed in relief as the negotiation came to a close. She stood up, extending her hand to shake the dealer's, a gesture of professionalism. She discreetly stashed the money in her bag, knowing deep down that her actions were necessary despite conflicting with her personal values. Urgency had driven her to this point, and she couldn't afford to dwell on her doubts.
Leaving the shop, she scanned the area and spotted Jobe engrossed in a game of football with the local children. It was a sport unfamiliar to her homeland, but seeing the joy it brought to everyone involved, she couldn't help but appreciate it. Y/n decided to join in on the uplifting atmosphere and purchased two cups of drinks before settling on the nearest bench. Slowly sipping her drink, she observed Jobe as he interacted with the kids, his gentle nature shining through. His enthusiasm and encouragement added to the lively game, and his genuine connection with the children became evident.
With some moments of solitude, Y/n had the chance to truly see Jobe for who he was. Gone was the drama queen she had encountered during their initial meeting at the hotel. She noticed his attractive physique and well-groomed hair, features that added to his appeal. His infectious smile brought newfound vibrancy to the once sombre town, spreading joy and eliciting smiles from all those around him. Y/n couldn't help but appreciate the curiosity gleaming in his eyes, always observant of his surroundings, a quality that translated well into his football skills.
"He's actually quite impressive," Y/n thought to herself, a smile naturally forming on her lips. This transformed version of Jobe made her forget the initial negative impression she had of him. However, her moment of reflection was interrupted when Jobe noticed her presence. She hoped he hadn't caught her staring, feeling a tinge of embarrassment. Jobe, however, wore a knowing smile and didn't mention her sudden change in behaviour. He approached her, instructing the children to continue playing, and joined her on the bench. Y/n averted her gaze, ashamed of her previous actions, but Jobe's friendly presence helped ease the tension. As he buttoned up his shirt, having discarded some buttons due to the heat, she passed him the extra drink. He thanked her, appreciating the newfound warmth in her demeanour.
After a few moments of silence and contemplation, the duo finally decided to head back to the resort. Y/n graciously offered to accompany Jobe, ensuring he wouldn't get lost or, worse, kidnapped. The journey back was quiet, but there was no awkwardness between them. Once they reached the resort lobby, Y/n turned to Jobe, extending her hand and demanding payment. Jobe took a moment to comprehend the situation and let out a nervous chuckle.
"Wait, I promised to pay you after our outing," Jobe spoke, straightening his shirt and adjusting his posture to convey his seriousness. The calm expression on Y/n's face quickly transformed into a frown. Jobe instinctively took a step back, secretly hoping she didn't possess a weapon.
"Are you serious? I spent the entire day showing you around town! Isn't that enough?" Y/n exclaimed angrily, her voice growing louder.
"I understand, but my vacation isn't over yet. I'll pay you once you take me out until my last day here," Jobe explained. Y/n paused for a moment, attempting to grasp his words. Finally comprehending his request, she turned around and stormed off, muttering something under her breath. Jobe chuckled lightly, shouting a farewell after her. He entered the elevator with a smile, ready to continue enjoying his time at the resort.
However, as the elevator doors began to close, Jobe's brother Jude stumbled in, reeking of alcohol and beer. It was evident that he had just returned from the hotel bar, a place Jobe was not yet allowed to enter.
"What's got you grinning like an idiot?" Jude slurred his words, leaning heavily on Jobe's shoulder. Jobe rolled his eyes and let out a sigh. Before he could think about his girl, he needed to ensure his intoxicated brother reached their room safely.

It had been three days since Jobe arrived at the resort, and he was growing increasingly bored. The town lacked excitement, and all the festivals had already taken place. Swimming had lost its charm, as he had already spent too much time in the water. Jobe's mother had encouraged him to explore more, but he couldn't fathom what else there was to see.
As Jobe strolled along the beach, his eyes caught sight of a small, dilapidated beach house at the far end. Despite knowing better than to trespass, his boredom got the best of him, and he decided to venture inside. He knocked on the door, but it swung open easily since it had no lock. Cautiously, he entered the house, taking in the fascinating posters, maps, and souvenirs adorning the walls. On a table, he noticed a family portrait amidst unpaid bills, featuring an adult couple and two young sisters.
Just as Jobe was about to examine the portrait, a knife whizzed past, narrowly missing his hand. Startled, he turned around and found the same girl from earlier, now dressed in her everyday clothes, glaring at him. She held a pail of fish and a fishing rod, clearly annoyed by his presence.
"Nice shot. You almost got me there," Jobe said, attempting to brush off the close call with a cocky smile. The girl scowled at him, pushing him aside as she placed the bucket of fish on the floor. Jobe cringed at the sight and smell of the seafood.
"Are all tourists like this? Always invading locals' privacy?" she snapped, clearly irritated by Jobe's intrusion. Despite her obvious dislike for him, Jobe found himself oddly intrigued. Her cold demeanour and resistance to his presence sparked a desire for the challenge of winning her over. After all, he was desperate for some entertainment.
Jobe began asking Y/n various questions. Some she answered, while others she ignored or refused to respond to.
"What's that on your wall?" he inquired.
"A sword from my ancestors," she replied curtly.
"Is that even legal?" he pressed further.
"Don't know, don't care," she retorted dismissively.
"Did you catch those fish yourself?" Jobe inquired, pointing at the bucket.
"Yes," Y/n replied simply.
"Why are you so angsty all the time?" he probed, trying to understand her better.
Y/n fell silent, refusing to answer that particular question.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Jobe then asked about her parents. This question struck a nerve, causing Y/n to erupt in a torrent of words in a language Jobe couldn't comprehend. She brandished the knife that had nearly struck him earlier, pointing it menacingly in his direction. Jobe wasted no time in retreating from the house, jogging a safe distance away before finding a place to sit and collect his thoughts.
As he glanced back at the beach house, he spotted Y/n chopping the fish, muttering to herself. Jobe couldn't help but smile. It was the most exciting thing that had happened in the past three days. Jobe realised that winning Y/n over might be the key to dispelling his boredom. He was determined to find common ground and break through her tough exterior. Standing up, he brushed the sand off his legs and started walking back to the resort, forming a plan in his mind.

I am so sorry for making Jobe a dick. 😭
Tumblr media
When the Bellinghams discovered that Jobe had a two-week break, they wasted no time in booking a surprise vacation for the family. Jobe's anticipation grew as he imagined the luxurious destinations they might visit. Would it be the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii? The vibrant streets of New York? Or perhaps the cultural wonders of South Korea or Singapore? However, when they arrived at their destination, Jobe's excitement quickly turned into disappointment.
Instead of a glamorous five-star vacation, the family had opted for a quieter, peaceful town near the coast. Jobe couldn't help but feel a twinge of dissatisfaction. He had dreamed of attending fashion shows, indulging in six-course meals, and shopping for the most luxurious football gear. These were activities he had imagined doing alone or with his family, free from the incessant pestering of Emma.
Yet, as Jobe explored the town, he discovered that it had its own charm. With its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a renowned five-star resort, he realised there was potential for enjoyment and relaxation. Perhaps he could make the most of this unexpected vacation.
Back at the resort, the family settled into their rooms, intending to rest before heading out for dinner. Jobe, still carrying some lingering frustration from his relationship with Emma, decided to vent his emotions by redirecting his dissatisfaction towards something else. He called for the manager to attend to him immediately.
"I want my room cleaned again," Jobe demanded, his voice tinged with irritation. The manager, visibly nervous, stammered in response, trying to assure Jobe that the room had been adequately prepared.
"But sir, I believe my workers have done a good job in preparing the room for your arrival, Mr. Bellingham."
"Well, I did pay for this room, so I have the right to complain!" Jobe retorted, his impatience showing.
The manager reluctantly called for the cleaners to come to Jobe's room promptly. Moments later, a male and a female cleaner entered, the male looking nervous and the female displaying a touch of attitude. They inspected the room, ensuring they hadn't missed anything, but it appeared just as clean as every other room they had tended to. The male cleaner spoke up, assuring Jobe that the room had already been cleaned.
"See, Mr. Bellingham? You have nothing to worry about. My workers have already cleaned the room specifically for you," the manager chimed in, hoping to diffuse the situation.
Unsatisfied, Jobe persisted with his complaints. He insisted that the room be cleaned again and threatened to escalate the matter to the higher-ups, even going as far as to imply that the manager's job might be at stake. It was then that Y/n L/n, the female cleaner, couldn't contain her frustration any longer.
"Hey asshole! Do you think you're the only guest here?" Y/n's voice carried a note of irritation. "We have many other rooms that actually need our attention. If you hate it so much, why don't you clean it yourself?"
Jobe was taken aback by Y/n's confrontational attitude. He glanced at her name tag, silently acknowledging her identity. Turning his gaze back to the manager, Jobe demanded an explanation for her rudeness. The manager, now even more fearful, hurriedly pulled Y/n out of the room, reprimanding her and instructing her to calm down. Jobe could overhear the manager asking her to find somewhere else to cool off.
"I apologise for my worker's unprofessional behaviour. She can be... unpredictable at times," the manager explained as he reentered the room, attempting to smooth things over.
Jobe huffed in response, feeling a mix of annoyance and curiosity about Y/n's outburst. He decided to put the incident behind him and headed out of the room, seeking activities within the resort to distract himself from his mounting frustrations. Little did he know that this encounter with Y/n would mark the beginning of a journey that would challenge his perceptions and open his eyes to the world beyond his own privilege.
