does your muse believe in fate or destiny?  what’s theirs?

         With everything the Winchesters have seen it’s hard to believe in either.  If only for the reason that Sam thinks it’s hard that someone can be destined to be eaten alive or possessed by a demon.  All interaction with Castiel and the angels also threw those ideas out the window.  There was no God.  No one had seen the being in ages.  Though they’d also met gods from the other pantheons that doesn’t mean the Fates interfere.

          Either way, no, he doesn’t believe.  Everyone is in control of their own paths and sometimes that means they get the short end of the stick.

pinocchio : how honest is your muse?  what is their moral stance on white lies?

           Sam lives in a circle of white lies.  He’s constantly dodging Dean’s questions about whether or not he’s okay.  It’s not that he doesn’t want to talk about it.  More than anything, Sam wants to connect to his brother like they were on equal footing.  But, at this point, too much has happened.  Dean has suffered too much because of stupid decisions Sam’s made along the way and anything he can do to make it easier then he will.  That includes easing his brother’s mind at every turn.  

          While he thinks it’s okay for him to tell these little white lies, he also gets frustrated when Dean chooses to omit emotional secrets.  So, his stance is all over the place.  It’s okay for him but not for others kind of thing.  Even then, he doesn’t get mad at Dean for doing it.  He just gets frustrated because he wants to help.

mulan : is your muse secure in their gender identity?  have they ever experienced sexism or transphobia?

          Sam is…indifferent on his gender identity.  All his life he’d felt like something wasn’t quite right but he’s never been able to put his finger on what that is.  He never felt the bravado his brother did and he never felt the way his father insinuated a ‘ man ‘ would feel like.  Sometimes he even felt a disconnect with his body.  The best way he can describe himself is as gender neutral.

          It’s also something he’s never discussed with anyone besides Jess.  The topic stemmed from a joke she’d made at dinner and turned into something a lot more serious.  Not in a bad way.  Simply in an exploratory way.  He explained how he never felt how everyone described he should feel.  There was no strong leaning either way.

          On that note, he’s never experienced transphobia.  Seeing it always sets his emotions on fire.  When he can he steps in because that kind of bully needs to be educated.  Sexism is something he feels like he’s experienced in the sense that people always assume he belongs one way or the other based on his looks.  There are comments on his actions and how they should be.  How he should and shouldn’t act is something he always wrestles with.

current mood: needs to be kissed

          --   re: memories of hell

          Sam wasn’t in hell for just a year.  When Dean was sent down into hell we learned that the passage of time down below was a lot different than it is on earth.  During that time, the younger Winchester was subject to a small civil war between Michael and Lucifer.  When the angelic brothers didn’t have their attention on each other they had it on Sam.  It took him to the brink and the weight of all that trauma infused every cell in his body by the time the walls came crashing down in his mind.

          One of the most vivid things was the image of Michael standing by while Lucifer had his way.  The archangel did absolutely nothing to help his soul let alone save it and that only put more weight on Sam’s pain.  Someone was standing by with the ability to help but chose not to.

          Seeing Lucifer not only brought those memories back but phantom pains kept Sam awake.  Whenever he closed his eyes he could feel invisible blades cutting through his flesh.  When Lucifer talked it wasn’t only words that were heard, it was the dripping of blood.  Unlike Dean’s tale of Hell, there was no promise of release.  There was no one else to torture, so there wasn’t even the hope of reprieve.  Sam was trapped knowing that the pain, the taunts, the everything would continue on for the rest of eternity.

          When Castiel took that weight from him, the memories remained but the emotional attachment to them was removed.  Disconnected.  Like all those terrible things happened to someone else.  It gave him the time to properly process all those images.  At the same time, it gave Sam yet another thing to feel guilt over.  He’d let Castiel down yet again.

what animal would you associate your muse with?  why?

          Oh man.  I have no idea.  Sam is incredibly loyal.  He’s protective.  He’s compassionate.  He’s empathetic and intelligent.  The first thing that comes to mind given these qualities is a wolf.  At the same time, that feels like a really biased answer because i really, really love wolves.

          If anyone has any different ideas I’d love to hear them!

Lady and the Tramp - What are your muses romantic standards? Would they ever fall for someone of a lower class?

          Class is never part of the equation as far as Sam is concerned.  Hell, neither is species if we get down to the nitty gritty of what he’s done on the show.  He’s slept with a number of supernatural creatures.  Everything comes down to connection.  There has to be something emotional there to hold on to, even for a one night stand.  He can look past a number of things.  He can even excuse a number of things because everything comes down to what he sees inside.

          Inner strength is something Sam cherishes.  The will to survive.  The will to defy the odds.  In the case of Ruby it was also a matter of connecting to someone when he felt like an outcast.  A supportive nature also goes a long way.  I see that as a big basis for his attraction to her.  She was his cheerleader when no one else was.  There was an ulterior motive there, sure.  But, outwardly, Ruby believed in Sam when Dean was constantly looking down on him for his psychic abilities.

          They’d been through a lot since Sam first stumbled on the trail of the originals.  He’d thought them a myth.  All alphas, actually.  It was hard to wrap his head around the idea that everything they fought on a daily basis stemmed from specific bloodlines. 

          “ Bonnie, “ the younger Winchester takes a step forward.  Arms lift.  Fingers outstretch.  There’s a plea in Sam’s eyes that he has no idea how to voice.  Sometimes it was hard not to let the job take over.  

          His mind takes him back to the demon he’d been in Ruby’s care.  She’d played on his insecurities and, as a result, he’d been ruthless in his quest to stop Lilith.  Maybe there was a part of him that was still trying to atone for that sin.  Now another one of his friends was hurt as a result.

          “ What else was I supposed to do?  I can’t just let them keep running wild.  Look what they’ve done to Mystic Falls.  Eventually, they’re going to want to go back out into the world and continue the carnage and I can’t let that happen. “

          Sam stopped in his tracks.  His laptop is tucked under one arm and there’s a freshly brewed coffee in his other hand.  Food hadn’t been on his mind until Amelia said something.  Now that the subject was on his mind the younger Winchester couldn’t even remember the last time he’d eaten.  

         There were a few fast food bags tucked under his passenger seat that he’d bought on the drive to see his friend.  But, he didn’t end up touching them.  By the time he parked they were too cold to even think about, so he’d left them there.  Then, once Amelia came into view he’d been too focused.  Reading and catching up took over.  Sam found it easy to get lost in the smell of old pages.  In the rhythmic clicking of fingers on keyboard.

         “ Right, “ a smile slowly stretches across his lips.  “ I’ll grab something.  I promise. “
