tired of walking on eggshells pretending like i don’t care about shipping when i do actually. sue me but i crave romance and i think it’s fun to write. i WANT to ship my characters. i don’t care if our first interaction is setting the foundation for a plotted ship. the best part is this still doesn’t mean shipping is my main focus but god the purist culture the rp community has developed around shipping and painting it as some moderately taboo thing that you should only ever indulge at a strict minimum is so exhausting. ship with me.

Nothing was more beautiful to her than the mountain range around Skyhold in the late evening, when the sun was about to set. The sky painted in technicolour and the fresh wind twirling snowflakes high into the air. In moments like these it was hard for her to believe that beyond this sight, the world searched constantly a way to destroy itself — even if for years she had lived in this severe ugly way.

Shaking her head, Nimue tried to get those thoughts, the creeping anxiety brought by those memories, out of her mind. It was in vain. She hadn't been capable of thinking of anything else.

He survived, Nimue.

The thick and warm coat embracing her body felt hard under her fingers, pressing into the cloth until they ached to be released of the pressure, yet it kept herself from trembling. Trembling from the fear that if she'd fall to sleep and awake, the monster from her dreams would haunt her out of the Fade. A monster she had thought of as defeated and buried, but however he had escaped the claws of dead, Uthred was still out there.

Once they had returned to Skyhold, almost half of her party had noticed her wandering thoughts. Her humorous comments to any situation falling silent. Not even a flinch in the corner of her lips, just a dead shine in her eyes, as if her spirit had left her for the entire journey home. Cassandra must have reported this to Leliana, as their master spy had been anything but surprised to see the Inquisitor in her high tower. Their talk was now two weeks old and today Leliana had brought her the news, Nimue had hoped to never hear.

The mage had been right. Her agents had found evidence of Uthred. A former templar had informed them that it had been him, who brought the lifeless body of the former Knight-Commander of Ostwick away from the Circle — although he hadn't been so lifeless. That monster had survived, lurking in the shadows all the time. So deep and dark, not even Leliana's agents found more clues about his whereabouts. It was hopeless... at least, for the Inquisition's master spy.

Her fingers trembled as they searched the wooden door to his office. She had never been in there, except for the time, she had been wandering around Skyhold, wanting to discover every secret corner and room. The castle had more secret passages than she would have thought first, but from all her late night walks, she had kept away from the Commander's office, as if it harbored the plague. Part of her thought that Leliana might have held some information back, only to make her take this step. Even Josephine had made a quick advice for their Inquisitor to talk to her third advisor about the problem. He has excellent contacts within the Templar Order. It might save months of time, if that man is so dangerous.

Uthred was a devil, more treacherous and evil than any demon she had encountered before. It was the only reason why she even considered this. Her long breath hadn't even left her lungs yet, as her fingers knocked on his office's heavy door.

"Commander? Are you still awake?", she asked, voice unusual high, betraying her nervousity. Calm your nerves, Nimue. He won't try to kill you... yet.
